Chapter 28 Moving Out of the Johnson Mansion

"What are you whispering about?" Jeremy's voice cut through the room, making Edith's face go pale.

Edith shook her head nervously."Nothing. I was just asking Gerald if something happened on the way that delayed him."

Jeremy gave Edith a deliberate look before standing up. "You wait here. I'll go upstairs. Let me know when Lawrence gets back."

As soon as he left, the tension in the living room eased considerably.

Edith let out a long breath and rolled her eyes. "What does that jerk Lawrence want from us now? He'd better not be trying to take more from us."

Lawrence had already taken over Emerald Peak Farm. There wasn't much left of value for him to take.

"Who knows? We'll find out when he gets here." Gerald said.

Unlike Edith's grumbling, Gerald remained calm. They didn't have to wait long before they heard commotion from the yard.

"Lawrence, what gives you the right to drag me here? Let me go back!" Elliot yelled.

Gerald and Edith exchanged a glance and quickly rushed outside.

They saw Elliot being forced out of a car by two bodyguards, followed by Lawrence and Hazel.

"Elliot, what's going on?" Seeing her son being treated like this, Edith's eyes flared with anger as she glared at Lawrence. "Lawrence, what are you doing?"

She tried to help Elliot, but the burly bodyguards blocked her way, leaving her to vent her frustration on Lawrence.

"I noticed Elliot hadn't been home for a while, so I had someone bring him over. After all, he's Grandpa's grandson too. It's good for Grandpa to see him." Lawrence's lips curled into a calm smile.

"Is this how you invite someone? Let him go right now!" Edith said.

Lawrence made a gesture, and the bodyguards released Elliot. Edith rushed to his side, full of concern. "Are you okay, Elliot?"

"I'm fine, Mom." Elliot rubbed his sore wrist and shot a glare at Lawrence, but quickly looked away when he saw the cold amusement in Lawrence's eyes.

Clearing his throat, Elliot spoke up. "Lawrence, this is too much. I was planning to visit Grandpa today anyway. You didn't need to go to such lengths!"

"Oh? Really? My men found you at the airport. Where were you planning to go?" Lawrence's eyes narrowed slightly, making Elliot's heart race. He quickly averted his gaze.

A bad feeling grew stronger in Elliot's gut. He pinched himself to stay calm. Without evidence, Lawrence couldn't do anything to him.

"Uncle Gerald, Aunt Edith, since Lawrence is back, let's go inside." Hazel, pushing Lawrence's wheelchair, chimed in at the right moment.

Edith, feeling stifled and unable to vent her frustration, led the group inside.

Toby had already gone to inform Jeremy of the commotion outside. By the time Lawrence and the others entered, Jeremy was coming down the stairs.

Elliot was quick to complain, "Grandpa, Lawrence went too far. You have to teach him a lesson."

Hazel almost laughed out loud. The audacity of the Johnson family never ceased to amaze her.

"What happened? Why all the shouting? It's disgraceful." Jeremy scolded.

To Elliot's surprise, Jeremy didn't side with him but scolded him instead, extinguishing his anger.

"Lawrence, they're all here now. What do you need to say?" Jeremy added.

The servants had been cleared out by Toby. Gerald and Edith sat on one side, while Lawrence and Hazel sat on the other.

"Grandpa, do you remember the incident a few days ago when Hazel and I almost got burned alive?" Lawrence said.

As Lawrence spoke, Hazel watched the others' reactions. Interestingly, Gerald and Edith's expressions differed from Elliot's—one was shocked, the other panicked.

Jeremy nodded. "I remember."

"I found some evidence. Since Uncle Gerald and Aunt Edith are here, let's all take a look." Lawrence pulled out a file and spread its contents on the coffee table. "I always thought that no matter how much Uncle Gerald and Aunt Edith disliked me, they wouldn't resort to harming family. But I was wrong."

Before he could finish, Elliot looked as if he'd seen a ghost.

"Grandpa, how you handle this is up to you. Hazel and I are planning to move out." Lawrence said.

Hazel was surprised. She hadn't expected Lawrence to bring up moving out now.

Gerald and Edith, looking through the evidence, were visibly terrified. "Dad, Elliot couldn't have done something like this."

Leaving the Johnson Mansion took about half an hour. Hazel didn't have much to pack, just a suitcase, and she followed Lawrence to Emerald Heights Estate.

Lawrence preferred solitude, so there were no other servants at Emerald Heights Estate, just Jason.

As for how Jeremy would deal with Elliot and the others, Hazel didn't know, and Lawrence didn't tell her. She had to focus on setting up the new company.

After moving to Emerald Heights Estate, Hazel and Lawrence resumed their usual routine.

The renovation crew had been working for several days. Hazel and Kelly planned to check out Victory Square.

But as soon as they arrived, Hazel heard a familiar, unpleasant voice. "Hazel, I finally found you."

Kelly frowned and turned with Hazel to see who it was, her face full of disgust. "Why do you keep bothering Hazel?"

Hazel thought the same. Last time, Randy's pestering had led to Luna taking photos. Now he was back again.

Randy approached with a bouquet of flowers.

"Should I leave or help you fend him off?" Kelly asked.

"You go ahead," Hazel replied. She had overheard Cheryl and Matilda's conversation at the hospital. She wanted to see what Cheryl had planned by sending Randy to bother her again.

Suppressing her disgust, Hazel stood her ground. "Randy, didn't I warn you to stop bothering me? Do you not understand?"

Randy replied, "Hazel, I heard you were in the hospital a few days ago. I'm sorry I just found out. I came to check on you."

Seeing Randy's earnest expression made Hazel want to vomit.

She pinched herself hard to keep from cursing him out. "Thanks for your concern. You've seen me. Now you can leave."
