Chapter 6

The servant, seeing the situation, stepped forward to urge Richard. Just as she was about to push Richard, Catherine blocked her with her body.

The servant's displeasure was evident on her face, and she was about to lose her temper when Richard groggily sat up in bed, immediately putting on a pleasant smile.

"Mr. Richard Smith, it's time to get up. Mr. Lucas Smith has invited a very famous doctor to see you."

Richard ignored the servant's toothy grin and turned to the neglected Catherine.

He took Catherine's hand and asked, "Are the bad guys in white coats coming to take me away?"

Catherine burst into laughter and quickly explained, "No, no, he's here to help you. Come on, let's go downstairs together!"

The servant, seeing the two of them exchanging silly remarks, leaned back with a look of disdain and arrogance.

When Richard was seated in his wheelchair and Catherine was wheeling him to the elevator, the servant deliberately walked slower.

She thought, 'These two idiots won't know how to use the elevator. They'll definitely need my help!'

But instead of hearing cries for help, she saw Catherine about to close the elevator door.

This was unacceptable. If Lucas saw this, he would think she was slacking off!

Catherine watched the servant stride over and discreetly pressed the close button. The servant was left outside, her face showing a look of horror.

As expected, when the servant reached downstairs, Lucas gave her a stern look.

"These must be Mr. Richard Smith and his future Mrs. Smith," the doctor said with a smile, his gaze sweeping over them like an X-ray.

"Yes, this is Richard, and this is his fiancée," Lucas said, dressed in a suit with a fake warm smile, pointing at Richard.

Catherine's heart tightened. She had never seen this man before. Was it because she had been too busy with business to keep up with such things? But for Lucas to be so polite, this person must be a top figure in the States.

His medical skills must be excellent.

What if he discovered she was only pretending to be foolish?

Catherine's mind raced for a solution, but to outsiders, she appeared vacant and dazed.

Richard noticed Catherine's state and shook her arm. "What's wrong?"

Catherine met Richard's gaze and was slightly stunned.

Richard's gaze was a mix of dazedness, foolishness, and... surprisingly, a hint of concern.

She actually saw worry in the eyes of a fool.

Catherine's expression became complicated for a moment, then she returned to normal and laughed, pointing at the doctor. "He looks so funny."

The atmosphere in the living room instantly turned icy.

Lucas laughed awkwardly and exchanged a glance with the doctor, his face showing a hint of embarrassment.

"Micah, I'm sorry, but my nephew and his wife have encountered some difficulties and have become simple-minded. I invited you here this time to help treat them; I really appreciate your effort."

Micah had thought only Richard was foolish, but it turned out his fiancée was too. The Smith family was indeed as rumored, a gathering of fools.

"No problem, Mr. Lucas Smith. I'm an expert in this field. I'll definitely find a treatment for them. Don't worry."

Lucas smiled politely and said, "Money's not an issue. The most important thing is to get them better."

He patted Micah's arm as he spoke.

Micah understood and, with a confident look, waited for Lucas to leave before his expression changed.

"Mr. Richard Smith, come over here."

Richard, sitting in his wheelchair, tilted his head slightly. "But I'm in a wheelchair. Why don't you come to me?"

Micah was taken aback. Richard's words were logically clear, aside from the foolish tone.

Could it be...

Micah frowned. Could Richard be pretending to be foolish, as Lucas suggested?

Intrigued, Micah walked over to Richard and instructed the accompanying doctor to prepare the necessary equipment. He reached out to examine Richard.

Just as he was about to touch Richard's shoulder, he heard a sharp sound. Micah looked down to see a red handprint on the back of his hand.

"What are you doing! Don't touch my fiancé, you bad person!"

Micah sneered. "I'm a doctor. Without me, your fiancé will stay a fool forever!"

"Even so, you can't touch him! Richard, let's go play in the garden. There are lots of fun things there!"

Richard's eyes lit up at the mention of fun, and the two of them headed towards the garden terrace.

Micah stood there, dumbfounded, and instructed his assistant to guard the equipment, then followed Richard and Catherine.

"Mr. Smith! Ms. Spencer!"

As Micah reached the terrace, he felt something trip him, and he fell forward.

Everything went dark, and when he came to, he realized he was in a large pit.

Above him, two smiling faces appeared.

It was Richard and Catherine!

Richard, sitting in his wheelchair, had a foolish expression. "Look, the bad guy is so funny. Should we bury him?"

Bury him?

Catherine felt uneasy. This wouldn't do. What if he died?

As Catherine hesitated, a scream came from the terrace.

The servant, seeing the two of them pushing Micah into the pit, was terrified.

Catherine quickly understood. The more outrageous their behavior, the more people would believe they were truly fools!

With that in mind, Catherine let go and started pushing dirt into the pit.

Richard struggled to the ground and began pushing dirt into the pit as well.

Their smiles never left their faces, and to Micah, they looked like demons!

"No! Let me out! Let me out!"

"Hurry, Micah is down there! Get him out!"

"Oh, Mr. Richard Smith, please don't do this. If Mr. Lucas Smith finds out, I'll be the first to suffer!"

The servant, responsible for Richard, was in a panic, and with another person's help, they pulled Richard and Catherine away.

The scene was chaotic, but they managed to rescue a disheveled Micah.

Meanwhile, in the study, Lucas heard that Micah insisted on leaving and didn't believe it at first.

"Just offer more money."

The servant, anxious, shook her head. "Mr. Lucas Smith, you should go see for yourself. Micah almost lost his life! This time, money won't work!"

Lucas's expression changed, and he immediately headed downstairs.

He saw the mess in the garden and the dazed Micah and was momentarily stunned.

Then he approached with concern. "Micah, what happened?"
