Chapter 13
Julia felt much better, so she grabbed her purse and headed back to the private room.
As she stepped out of the restroom, she bumped into someone in the narrow hallway.
"Sorry," Julia began to apologize, but a curse cut her off, "Damn it, are you blind? You just ran into me!"
Julia had been drinking, but the man in front of her reeked of alcohol even more. Clearly, he had had quite a bit.
Julia, preferring to avoid trouble, instinctively took a step back, creating a seemingly safe distance.
Their eyes met, and the man's lips remained frozen in the shape of his last word. His pupils dilated as he stared at her.
Julia was strikingly beautiful, the kind of beauty that left a lasting impression.
Seeing the man suddenly freeze, she softly asked, "I'm sorry, it was my fault. Are you okay?"
The man seemed to snap out of his daze at her words and reached out to touch her. His hand landed on Julia's long hair and started to move towards her waist, but she swiftly pushed him away.
"Hey! Have some respect!" she said, frowning slightly, trying to sidestep him.
But the man, breathing heavily, didn't give her a chance. He pulled her closer with a forceful tug. "You're so beautiful, don't go. Be my friend, okay?" His lecherous gaze revealed his true, vile intentions.
His hand began to wander again, aiming to touch Julia's skin.
Julia, seizing the moment before he could touch her, bit down hard on the hand that was holding her.
The man yelped in pain and instinctively let her go.
Seizing the opportunity, she kicked him hard in the groin.
Already unsteady from drinking, the man collapsed to the ground from the impact.
"You arrogant bitch! You dare kick me! Fuck!" he cursed from the floor, raising a trembling hand to signal.
Suddenly, two bodyguards appeared out of nowhere. Their muscular builds and intimidating presence made it clear they were not to be messed with.
They approached the man, trying to help him up. "Are you okay, sir?"
"Grab that bitch for me!" With his command, the two bodyguards strode towards Julia.
Knowing she couldn't outrun them, Julia pulled out her pepper spray, which she had made herself. It wouldn't harm anyone but would make them itch uncontrollably.
If they got any closer, she wouldn't hesitate to use it.
She pressed herself against the wall, calculating the distance as the bodyguards approached.
One step.
Two steps.
Almost there.
Just as she was about to press the button, the bodyguard in front of her suddenly screamed and was thrown backward.
Within seconds, the other bodyguard followed suit.
What just happened?
Julia instinctively looked up and saw a tall figure standing there.
She recognized the black suit immediately, even from six feet away, she could smell his distinct, cold scent.
Her heart pounded with anxiety, and she instinctively wanted to run.
Henry's face was cold, his golden eyes fixed on the woman before him.
Julia!
He had come out at the noise, not expecting it to actually be Julia!
Before he could speak, Julia tried to make a run for it right under his nose!
Henry wasn't about to let that happen. He lunged forward, grabbing her wrist tightly.
His grip was so strong it felt like he might crush her bones. His presence was as intimidating as a wild beast.
Julia never imagined that in a city as big as Neoville, she would run into Henry like this. It was unbelievable!
She wanted to run, but with Henry so close, she knew escape was impossible.
"Julia!" Henry shouted her name with intense hatred.
Seeing his furious face so close, Julia snapped back to reality.
She instinctively tried to shake off his hand. "Let go!"
But he didn't give her a chance. Tightening his grip, he lifted her delicate arms above her head, pinning her against the wall.
"Let go?" Henry's voice and gaze were icy, sending chills down her spine.
Six years had passed since he last saw Julia, yet her beauty still captivated him.
Time had added a sharpness to her features. Unlike before, she now dared to meet his gaze fearlessly.
Henry gripped her hands tightly, staring at her coldly. "Julia, do you think you can escape?"
Julia opened her mouth to speak, but Henry didn't give her a chance. His cold eyes fixed on her, he spoke to Asher, "Take care of this!"
Without giving Julia time to react, Henry scooped her up and carried her into a nearby private room.
Julia struggled, but her efforts were futile against Henry's strength.
Henry shut the door behind them.
Now, it was just the two of them in the room.
Julia's heart pounded in her chest. "What do you want? We're divorced!"
Maybe something in her words triggered Henry.
He turned, pinning her against the wall with his body, making it impossible for her to move.
The distance between them vanished, and she could hear his breathing clearly.
Julia wanted to struggle, but being so close to Henry, any movement might lead to unwanted contact.
Six years ago, he hated being close to her.
He probably still felt the same now.
In this sudden situation, anything she did would be to her disadvantage.
Henry's gaze were intensely invasive, as if he wanted to see right through her.
Julia forced herself to stay calm.
They were divorced. Six years ago, she had said everything she needed to say.
She owed Henry nothing.
If anything, Henry owed her for their marriage.
So, she wasn't afraid!
Besides, after six years apart, they were practically strangers now.
Julia convinced herself of this, and her emotions gradually calmed down.
She broke the tense silence first. "Henry, we can talk this out. There's no need for this."
Henry was surprised by her indifferent tone, momentarily stunned, a flicker of disbelief in his eyes.
Though it was brief, Julia noticed it.
Seeing him silent, she pressed on, "Don't you have anything to say? Then I'll leave."
Her calm demeanor was so disconcerting that even the experienced Henry couldn't read her thoughts.
