Chapter 1

The streets of London were dark and suffocating under a blanket of fog, the moon barely breaking through the clouds. The only sound was the faint echo of distant footsteps, slowly dissolving into the murky night air. The city, with its timeless stone buildings and narrow alleyways, seemed alive with secrets. And one of those secrets was about to unfold.

The vampire stalked the city streets, hunger gnawing at his insides, a primal need that could not be quenched. He had been at this for days, hunting in the shadows, drawing closer with each victim. Thirteen. Thirteen young women. Each one, more delicate and sweet than the last. He didn't care who they were. It was the thrill… the chase, the moment before he sunk his teeth into their soft, pulsing veins. That was what drove him.

Tonight, he had his eyes set on her. A young woman in a red coat, walking briskly through the fog, unaware of the predator just a few steps behind. He had been following her for blocks, savoring the anticipation. She was his now. The night was his, too.

The woman turned the corner, and the vampire quickened his pace, a predator closing in on its prey. She glanced over her shoulder, but the streets were empty… only the fog, thick and creeping, swirled around her. She kept walking.

The vampire, unseen, crept closer. He could hear the soft thrum of her heartbeat, a gentle rhythm that only he could hear. He could smell the blood… sweet, rich, intoxicating. His mouth watered. Just a little more.

With a burst of speed, he closed the distance, stepping into the alleyway ahead of her. The woman’s eyes widened, but she didn’t scream. She didn’t even have time to react before his cold, pale hand grabbed her wrist, yanking her into the darkened alley. She stumbled, her breath catching in her throat as she tried to pull free, but his grip was iron, unyielding.

"Don’t scream," the vampire hissed, his voice low, a growl that rumbled in the air like thunder. He wasn’t asking for permission.

She froze, terror flooding her senses, but she said nothing. It wouldn’t have mattered even if she did. The night was too thick, too silent. No one would come for her. No one would hear.

The vampire leaned closer, breathing in the scent of her fear. It made his blood boil in ways he didn’t want to acknowledge. He tilted his head, his sharp eyes scanning her face, her pale skin. He could see the faint pulse at her neck, her throat trembling beneath his gaze.

He wasn’t gentle. The first bite was harsh, puncturing the skin with a sickening crack. Her body jerked in his grasp, a sharp gasp escaping her lips. He sucked, greedily, feeling the warmth flood his senses as her blood spilled into his mouth. His fangs dug deeper, and with each pull, the life drained from her.

She whimpered, a fragile sound, but he didn’t stop. He didn’t care. The woman’s struggle grew weaker, slower, her body going limp in his arms as he drank until the last drop was gone. He pulled away, letting her body crumple to the ground. Her eyes were glassy, her face pale, her mouth slightly parted in a silent scream.

Another life, extinguished. Another woman who had become just another notch in his killing spree. The vampire stood over her, breathing deeply, his bloodlust sated… for now.

The vampire stood motionless, the woman’s blood still dripping from his fangs, her body lifeless at his feet. For a moment, he felt nothing… just the emptiness that followed each hunt, each victim drained of life. But as the night air cooled, a prickling sensation crawled over his skin, an unease that tugged at his instincts.

He wasn’t alone.

The flickering streetlamps cast long shadows down the alleyway, but as soon as he turned to leave, the lights blazed to life. Bright and intrusive, cutting through the darkness like the blade of a knife. His senses screamed… too late.

From all corners, they emerged. A group of humans, quiet, organized, like hunters. Eyes glowing with resolve, they held fire in their hands… torches and makeshift weapons. They weren’t scared. They weren’t running.

“You’re not going anywhere,” one of them said, his voice cold, as if he had spoken those words a thousand times before.

The vampire snarled, showing his fangs, his muscles tensing. He tried to leap forward, to attack, but the humans were fast. They had planned for this, and their trap was already set.

The man leading them stepped forward, his torch raised high, his face grim. “You’ve taken enough of us. It’s time you paid.”

The vampire lunged at him, but the humans were too quick, spreading out to surround him. One of them grabbed a rope and, in an instant, wrapped it around his limbs, binding him to a nearby lamppost. The vampire struggled against the ropes, thrashing and cursing, his strength too great to be easily contained.

But they didn’t plan on ending him quickly. No, this was a slow burn.

They waited.

The vampire struggled, tugging at the ropes with increasing desperation, but the more he fought, the tighter they became. He could hear them talking, but their words blurred as his mind raced with a growing panic. ´What are they waiting for? ´

And then, as if on cue, the first hint of light broke over the horizon. The slow, creeping dawn, seeping through the cracks of the alleyway like a promise. His eyes widened in realization.

They weren't going to kill him quickly. They were going to let the sun do it.

His body, then felt the first sting of the sun's touch, burning through his skin like acid. He screamed, but the sound was swallowed by the growing heat. His body jerked involuntarily, his muscles fighting against the inevitable as the sun crept higher in the sky.

The fire from the torches, which had once been a threat, was now a distant memory compared to the sun. The vampire's skin started to blacken, the flesh sizzling and crackling. His vision blurred, each moment more agonizing than the last. He fought the ropes, tried to flee, but his body was already failing him.

The humans didn’t watch in satisfaction. They watched because they knew what the vampire had done to their friends, lovers and sisters. They watched because there was nothing left to be done but let the sun burn away the monster who had caused so much death.

And with one final, soul-piercing scream, the vampire was reduced to nothing. His body turned to ash as the sun’s rays consumed him, leaving only the faintest trace of his existence in the morning air.

The humans stood around the smoldering remains, their faces blank.

The deed was done.

And the vampire, who had stalked these streets for so long, was finally erased from the world.

The humans stood over the smoldering remains of the vampire, watching as the last trace of him disappeared into the morning light. A silence lingered in the alley, but it wasn’t a peaceful silence. It was one of quiet, somber realization.

They had stopped this one vampire, but the shadows still loomed heavy over the city. His death, though a victory, was just the beginning. If one vampire had dared to hunt and kill, who was to say there weren’t others? Who could know how many more lurked in the dark corners of the world, waiting for the perfect moment to strike?

One by one, the humans exchanged glances. Their faces were drawn, hardened. The fight wasn’t over.

"He won’t be the last," the leader of the group muttered, his voice cold but resolute. He was looking out over the remnants of the city, his gaze piercing through the fog as though he could see every hidden threat, every predator waiting in the darkness.

"No," another said, wiping the soot from his brow, "There are others. There are always others." His voice trembled, betraying the fear that gnawed at him. He knew what the vampire had done. He had seen it with his own eyes… young women drained of life, left to wither into empty shells.

The leader turned to face them, his eyes hardening. "We cannot allow this to continue. This... this madness." He gestured at the body, now nothing more than ash. "If one exists, more will follow. And if we wait, they'll kill us all. We have to be sure. We have to stop them before they can grow, before they can wipe us out."

A murmur spread through the group. They knew what that meant. They knew the consequences.

"This can’t be a single fight," the leader continued, his voice steady despite the tremor of urgency that had crept into it. "This is no longer a hunt. This is war."

A chill passed through the gathered humans. Some of them had heard the rumors. Some had feared the existence of vampires for years, thinking they were just myths. But now, the reality had hit them hard, like a punch to the gut. They weren’t just facing one lone creature; they were facing a force. A force that had lived in the shadows, unnoticed, until now.

"We will need more," one of the humans said, his voice hoarse. "More hunters. We’ll need armies... weapons. We cannot do this alone."

"We will gather them," the leader replied, his tone growing fierce. "We’ll find them. We’ll find every last one of them. And we’ll kill them before they can strike again."

The group nodded, understanding the magnitude of the task ahead. They couldn’t stop with just one vampire. They had to hunt them all, every last one. The night would no longer be safe for them, but for the humans, the stakes were too high. Their very existence was at risk.

And so, the humans made a vow. They would rise, arm themselves, and declare war on the vampires. They would hunt them down, one by one, and eradicate them from the earth before they could extinguish humanity itself.

This was the beginning of the war… a war for survival. A war that would change everything.
