CHAPTER 3: THE DEVIL'S DAUGHTER

MARIANA'S POV.

After the Alpha left, the men who had their heads bowed in reference raised it up and I almost let out a gasp at how scarred and tough they looked. None of them had a smooth face and with the deep lines of frown on their faces, one could tell they'd been through a lot.

I slowed down a bit when I couldn't feel the guard behind me, trying to take in the rest of my surroundings until I felt his rough hands push me again. This time, bumping my head into a hard pillar made me cuss out in pain.

“Hey, are you dumb or can't you see you're hurting me?” I asked angrily.

“I can see you like to talk. I bet you'll keep that lousy mouth of yours shut after your meeting with the Alpha” He replied, acting like he didn't just throw me into a pillar.

“So we're going to ignore the fact that you just stupidly bumped me into a wall?” I huffed, stopping in my tracks, causing him to stop too. This time, I took my time to take in his facial features and I can definitely say he's the only good looking guard I've seen since we got here.

His face had little scars and his hair was laid down backwards. His eyes were almost as brown as berries and his lips were as thin as the edge of a blade. Oh, one more thing I would like to add is the fact that he's towering over me and can easily throw me out with one of his huge muscles without flinching a bit.

After seeing his height and the grim look on his face, I cleared my throat, looking away. Clearly he's not someone I can take on in a fight.

“How long is it going to take to get to the door or is this a magical palace we have to teleport into?” I asked sarcastically as we continued walking but he didn't say anything.

The walk from the gate to wherever the door is felt like a journey of eternity and I started to wonder why the door was so far from the gate. Soon,we arrived at a big, tall black door with what I guessed to be the emblem of the Pack house. It was a metal sculpt of a viper. It looked so real and scary I had to jump away from the door at first making the guard let out a grunt disguised chuckle.

I tried to open the door but it required a fingerprint passcode so I stepped away from the door and let the guy do his job.

After a few seconds the door opened and I was met with the most stunning view of my life. The entire hallway was painted in a dazzling white. Everything from the walls to floor was covered in a spotless hue of white.

My jaws dropped as we walked through the hallway into a wide, no, massive sitting room. I can't call this a sitting room because it was just too big to be called one and once a while, ladies who I guessed to be maids walked in and out of different rooms without sparing me or the guard a glance.

“Stared around enough, loose mouth?” I heard Macho's voice behind me and I could tell he had a proud smirk on his face. Embarrassed, I closed my mouth, straightened my cloth and made to talk when another huge looking guy interrupted me.

“Sir, the Alpha asked me to get the location file of the last goods we sent out from you.” He said with a voice thicker than my guard. I tried to make a mental comparison of our height and boy, I'm a dwarf compared to them. The new guy didn't spare me a glance as he continued talking to guard who seemed to have forgotten about me.

I used the opportunity to stare around the house and never in my imagination would I have imagined that the clan house of the vipers would look so harmless and spotless compared to what the pack house was known to be- ruthless and tough.

The entire house was painted white and had silver, breathtaking chandeliers hanging from the roof. There was a long staircase that led to a train of rooms upstairs.

I was still gaping around when Macho suddenly grabbed my hands, causing me to wince and said,

“Hey, stay here and wait for me. Don't go anywhere and don't touch anything if you love your miserable life.”

“How dare you-” I tried to argue but he was already walking away with the other guy so I kept shut and returned to feeding my eyes on the interior of this spine-tingling mansion. I darted my eyes around until something caught my eyes.

It was another long hallway with an array of artworks on the wall. Another thing about me is that I'm a crazy sucker for art and paintings.

Before I could tell what's going on, my legs started drifting towards the hallway and soon, I found myself touching and admiring the artworks. Whoever did this is definitely not a member of this cruel family. I thought to myself.

I continued trailing and touching the paintings on the wall when I felt someone run into me and the loud scream from the person was enough to bring me back to life. I turned to look at who had hit me and it was a tall, extremely spotless looking lady. She had a deep frown on her face which made her look like a malfunctioning toy. She stared at me with so much anger in her eyes and it made me equally angry.

“Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to-” I stuttered until she cut me off.

“Are you stupid or did your brain stop working?” She yelled at me. I looked around to ensure she was actually yelling at me but there was no one else around so she really must have been talking to me.

I looked at her for a while, contemplating whether to stay mellow or show her who I really am. The condescending look on her face told me what to go for.

“You should answer that question since you're stupid enough to ignore the fact that you ran into me” I replied, trying to control my anger. Her eyes widened in disbelief and she looked like she'd seen a ghost.

“Did you just talk back to me?” She asked.

“Wow, I guess your brain really doesn't work.” I said but the slap that hit my face next consumed everything else I had to say. There's no way I'd let a stupid, mannerless bimbo get away with slapping me so I hit her back, earning loud gasps from the people I had no idea were watching.

I stood defiant waiting for the girl to recover from the slap I gave her so I could hit her again but I was caught off guard when a pair of strong, brute hands suspended mine in the air. I turned to look at him and I was met with the most captivating sight of my life.
