CHAPTER 3
I had sneaked back into the dorms around midnight. They finished the ice breaker event a few hours ago. My roommate was not in her, causing me to wonder where she was. Was she with Luke?
I shook the thought from my head as I plopped on the bed. I fell asleep the moment my head hit the pillow.
I woke up to my roommate huffing and puffing about the room. My body lazily got up from my bed, knowing I needed to shower and get ready for the campus tour. Roommate seemed to throw a fit about something, slamming things down, but I paid her no mind. As she said, this was a single dorm. I didn't exist to her, and she didn't exist to me.
I grabbed my bathrobe, towel, shower sandals and toiletries, heading toward the shower. As the water hit my face, last night's events came to mind. Who the fuck is my mate, and why did they run away from me? Surely their wolf felt the mate bond, too.
I wanted to spend the day searching for him, but I knew it would be pointless. My best bet was to stick with all the freshmen, and hope I run into him again.
I quickly finished showering and got dressed. Choosing a white shirt and pants with tennis shoes for today. I figure there would be a lot of walking on this tour. Roommate was gone already, no idea where she went again.
They split us into 4 large groups. I was in the blue group with all the medical/health students. They started us in the common area, taking us to the medical buildings. There was a dentist's office, and doctor's office for us to get clinical hours at.
They showed us our lab rooms, and the x-ray, CT, and MRI machines they had. They had the best supernatural medical program in the country. It was a very competitive and challenging program. All the things they showed us were getting me so excited to start.
We continued down the hall when I smelled him again. That sweet smell of pine and cinnamon hit my nose like Christmas. I began investigating the area, sniffing the air like a maniac. Everyone gave me weird looks, as they should. I followed the scent down a different hall. I wanted to continue the tour, but I also really needed to find my mate.
I turned the corner to find a lab, slowly pushing the door open as the speed of my heart increased. The smell wafted into my nostrils the moment the door cracked. I knew he had to be in here. I was trembling with anticipation. What did he look like? What did he sound like? Why did he run?
I wasn't sure if I should be excited or if I should be worried, and embracing for another heartbreak. I pushed past that feeling and took a step in. The room was pitch black, and I instinctively turned the lights on.
"What are you doing?!" someone aggressively yelled. "Turn it back off!" I whimpered, turning them back off.
I could hear steps marching their way up to me as my eyes adjusted to the dark. I could hear my heartbeat in my ears. My nerves were on edge as I embraced what I was sure was going to be a long lecture of sorts.
My eyes finally adjusted, making out a few annoyed faces. Everyone was eyeing me in a not so pleasant way. Probably mad, I turned the lights on. How was I supposed to know?
This colossal figure marched towards me. I'm guessing it's the guy that yelled at me a second ago. He was tall, a lot taller than me. He had broad shoulders and a muscular build. I could see his strong jawline and furrowed brow as he got closer. His hair was messy on top, like he'd been in this lab for a while.
"Who are you? And what are you doing here?" he asked.
I stumbled to find the right words. How stupid would I look if I said I was looking for my mate? I stayed silent for a moment.
"Well? Don't you know we're working with light-sensitive cells here? Any light harms them!" He scolded. His tone was so harsh it forced me to take a step back, even though I don't intimidate easily.
"I'm sorry, I did not know. I got separated from my group and-"
"Oh great, another freshman." He interrupted. "Leave now. We don't need any freshmen here."
"Right, sorry." I turned back to the door. I was about to open it when his hand landed over it. He leaned down beside my ear.
"Stop trying to find me." He whispered as he opened the door and shoved me out. I caught a small glimpse of him through the crack of light.
He was very handsome. He had light brown hair and dark eyes. His jaw was wide and strong with a sharp nose was sharp and small. He pressed his lips into a thin line of anger. He had an intense look in his eyes as my confused ones met him.
Was he my mate? How did he know I was looking for him? And why doesn't he want me searching for him? Why doesn't he want me?
I swallowed back the pain, refusing to tear up in front of him. My expression soured as I turned on my heel and stormed away. I refused to let him think he had any hold over me, even though he had it all.
I didn't let a tear stream down my face until I turned the corner. I gave myself a moment before I went back to search for my group.
How could he just send me away? How was he not interested in the mate bond? What the hell is his name?
I was getting mad the more I thought about it. I could feel Heli riling up inside me as well. She wanted out badly.
I decided not to go back to the group. I will wait right here for this fucker to come and explain what his problem was. If he doesn't want a mate, then he better reject me now. I crossed my arms and took a seat in a nearby chair. I refuse to let him make me feel this way with no explanation.
