CHAPTER 5: Banished
Kylie
But I wish I could believe my Mom's eyes, because why would Logan say something like that while my mother was on her knees apologizing for my stupid actions? I just knew he wouldn't choose to lie in the middle of a chaotic situation, but I am as well as lost in my thoughts.
I was kept in one of the cells inside the dungeon at the Packhouse underground for so long that I had no idea what time it was. Curled up in the corner, my heart jumped in excitement upon hearing footsteps approaching.
Given all Logan has done towards me, I'm still here getting excited about the idea of him visiting me inside a cell he locked me in.
I crawled towards the door that was locked and waited until the footsteps halted.
It felt like my entire world had crashed into seeing Lucas in front of me. "Lucas?" I called, disappointment audible in my tone.
He forced a smile before crouching down to level my face.
"Why are you here? Where's Logan?"
His eyes squinted. "Are you being serious right now? After what happened a while ago, you are still looking for him?"
"I am starting to hate this whole mate thing with us werewolves," he added, chuckling.
My shoulders slumped.
"Yeah, I hate it, too," I murmured.
"You need to escape now, Kylie," his voice was instantly replaced by worry.
Lucas' lips remained parted as if he was about to add up something, but I didn't let him finish when I laughed. "Why? Because he's married to Hanna now? "
Suddenly, his expression got serious, holding the metal bar between us.
"It's just not because of that."
"Then, why?" I innocently shrugged.
"Logan's planning on executing you." Lucas' last statement felt like a poison that made my entire system shut. "He wants you dead before tomorrow."
Not even thinking of considering any of Lucas' words in my mind, I shook my head.
"Logan might be hating me right now for what I did, but he's not going to go that far," I uttered, staring blankly at the rough ground.
"I am still his mate," I added, in a low voice.
Lucas cleared his throat. "Well, unfortunately, Hanna wants you dead, you know? She actually believes that you're Logan's true mate."
Pure silence envelops the atmosphere and the silence allows my own thoughts to torture me harder. He's being controlled by Hanna, and he will kill me just because she wants to.
"But, don't worry, Kylie. I'll help you escape."
Lifting my head, I found Lucas' hopeful eyes on me. But as soon as I shook my head, his face wrinkled in confusion.
"Escaping isn't something I would do."
He breathes out in surrender before standing up. "I get it. You really deserve to be the Beta," he paused, sliding his hands into his pockets, boastfully smirking. "You're brave and independent. But rest assured that I will still do everything in my power to help you."
And before I could thank him for his unconditional kindness, Lucas stepped away.
It wasn't long enough after Lucas left, two men arrived, unlocking my cell to drag me out. They hastily pulled me, until they reached out the underground, still holding me tightly captive. I was held worse than a rogue who had done vile acts for the Pack to think that the only thing I've done is to fight for what's mine.
They took me to one of our training rooms where Logan, Lucas, and Victor were gathered. I thought it was only the Pack's official present when Hanna stood up from her seat.
Upon seeing me kneeling down on the floor with two men holding my arms, an automatic grin formed on her lips. She was raising her eyebrows at me. I removed my eyes at her, accidentally staring at Logan who was standing from the corner with his arms crossed across his chest.
I could feel antagonizing pain by just staring at his cold ice eyes, forcing me to just look down.
"What's taking so long?" Hanna groaned.
As if Hanna's annoyed voice was a distress to him, Logan walked up to me, and at a snap of a second, I felt his rough calloused hands on my jaw, grasping it with no gentleness.
"What I said earlier was right. You're adopted and are not—"
"Enough with that, Logan. It's not like she's deaf," Lucas annoyingly chimed in.
"No, she deserves to know why she's not worthy of staying in the Pack anymore."
"You're being unreasonable. You're going to punish her anyway."
But as if he heard nothing, Logan scoffed, clutching my jaw tighter.
"Okay, I'm adopted," I sarcastically spat before him, giving him nothing but a scornful look to conceal how wretched I was inside. "And you're going to kill me right now because your woman asked you to? You will let a Luna dictate an Alpha like you to tell you what to do." I bitterly laughed, shaking my head.
It's funny how I've found myself deeply and madly in love with him to the point that I don't care about being adopted. Because I knew losing him was way more painful than losing everything I had.
I could hear him growling in displeasure before his hand went down my neck and forced me to stand up.
My body winced in pain, but I resisted until my back hit the wall behind me, as after Logan threw me like I weighed nothing.
"You should thank me that I'm still considerate enough to just kick you out of the Pack and never show yourself ever again rather than killing you!"
The way his voice sounded, and his eyes stared at mine, I felt like I never knew this man in front of me.
"You need me, Logan. You will need me," I uttered in a low voice as tears threatened to fall down my eyes.
A playful smirk formed on his lips before stepping closer to me. He leaned in so close that I could feel his breath brushing against my forehead as he towered in front of me.
"I am still your fated mate. Your wolf will weaken and so will you once I'm gone," I added, hoping it'd change his mind.
Placing his hands on both my shoulders, he gripped them tightly before crouching down for our faces to level.
"I hate to break it to you, Kylie, but I believe I will need a Luna who can help me and my Pack, which is obviously not you. I'd rather keep it this way than following that stupid mate bond like you did. Because look at you—"
I didn't wait for him to finish and completely shatter my heart into pieces before I immediately raised my right hand to slap him.
I slapped him so hard that he moved a bit away from me with his face skewed.
"It's all because of you! I did stupid things I never thought I would do because I love you!"
Getting back from the hard impact of my slap, Logan positioned himself to dodge over me, but I ran towards him, claws replaced my nails because of anger filling me. Without hesitation, I dug my claws into his chest, scratching them down into his abdomen. As soon as his shirt tore, I withdrew my claws to hit him again, but he caught my arm and held them firmly.
I resisted, growling in anger, trying to flee away from his grip.
"Let me go!" I screamed and was about to successfully free myself from him when he kicked my thigh and turned me around quickly before I fell down to the ground with my cheek touching the floor while he was pressing me down harder.
"I fucking hate you!" I yelled in frustration before tears rolled down my eyes.
Logan let me go, but before I could gather myself, two of his men grabbed me and lifted me, forcing me to face Logan as they made sure I wouldn't escape their hands.
My eyes went down to his bleeding chest caused by the huge scratch I did. But he didn't seem to mind himself bleeding as his bloodshot and squinted eyes in fury were fixed on me.
With my head held up high, I stared back at him with the same wrath I was holding. "I can't believe I let myself lose everything just because of you."
I saw how beads of tears started to well up in his eyes, but before they fell, he turned his back on me, saying, "Don't ever show yourself to me again, because I will never hesitate to kill you by that time."
