CHAPTER 7: New Pack?
Kylie
"Stop right there!" I screamed as one of them began walking forward to me.
"What the hell do you want?!" I questioned, my heart thumping heavily, disallowing me to take breaths normally.
But two of them hastily moved towards my place before I could hear him respond. They were so fast that I wasn't able to move before their hands clasped both my wrists.
"I want you," he whispered, clinging his face to my neck.
My face winced in disgust. I kicked him in his balls, forcing my wrist out of the two men's grip. Just when I thought I could flee, his hand reached my hair, pulling me down.
Using my claws, which I made sure to stick out, I scratched his face. I could feel my claw digging into his eyeballs before he screamed in agony. And soon afterward, his hands reached for my neck and seized me.
I choked, feeling his claws replacing his nails as he delved deeper into my skin.
My body squirmed in pain as I held oxygen. Death was nearly onto me, pushing me to break his wrist with my bare hands; adrenaline rushing through.
I quickly got up, gave the other two a follow-up punch in their faces, and ran as fast as I could. After making sure I'd run far, I sat in the dark alley, ripped a piece of my shirt, and wrapped it around my bleeding neck.
Catching my breath, my vision began to spin. I feel like I'm going to pass out any minute, and I've only got one option left for me.
Picking out Jacob's calling card, I flipped it, reading the address written.
Well, I guess I don't have any other choice. It's either I die here, all alone, or join his Pack.
Arriving at the location, huge, tall metal gates welcomed me. I went straight up to the entrance where two guards were chatting.
"I'm here for Jacob Williams," I uttered, leaning on the metal railings before the tall main gate as my body began to feel light.
"It's too late in the evening, and we're afraid Alpha Jacob might not be able to see you—"
"Just please," I shakily exhaled. "Please let me in, then. We knew each other, I'm sure he'd let me in."
"I'm sorry, but we can't—"
"Can't you see that I'm badly bleeding?! I'll die if you won't let me in!"
"Ma'am, we can't tell if you're even telling the truth."
My jaw was tightly clenched in irritation. "Fucking perverts were chasing me! Do you think I'll manage to lie while on the edge of death?!"
Both their eyes went down on me and upon looking at my situation, they seemed to believe me as one of them reluctantly walked inside. Only a couple of minutes had passed when I heard the guard come back.
My eyes were shut as I tried to conserve my remaining strength standing outside the gate.
"Kylie?" Jacob's worried voice echoes. "What happened?" He shook my shoulders, forcing me to open my eyes. "Who did this to you?!"
His brows were heavily furrowed as he held my shoulder firmly. But before I could utter a word, my body gave up, falling onto his bare chest.
Waking up with the heavy feeling caused by the pain last night, I woke up feeling tired and sluggish.
However, I was relieved to find myself inside a room. I lifted myself off the mattress to go to the bathroom when I overheard a voice from the balcony.
"You did great. Yeah, she's here."
I am certain it was Jacob's voice coming from the balcony. I tiptoed, making my way to the balcony, hoping to see him talking with somebody, but as I got closer I realized he was on his phone.
"Who are you talking to?"
His eyes lit up in shock and immediately drew the stick of cigarette out of his mouth before tossing it away.
"You're up so early."
"That didn't answer my question, Jacob."
A wide grin slowly filled his thin lips. "So, are we on a first-name basis now," he chuckled, walking up to me.
"Kylie?" he playfully continued, pulling me with him back inside the room.
He sat on the edge of the mattress, tapping the space beside him. And when I hesitated to move, he reached for my wrist and tugged me to sit beside him.
"Let me take a look at your cuts."
I stayed still as Jacob began to remove the bandage wrapped around my neck.
"You heal pretty quickly, huh?" His eyes were fixed on my neck, pushing me to carefully look into his irresistible features. My mind was blank, staring at him dumbfoundedly when Jacob unexpectedly looked up.
A smirk appeared on his face upon catching me.
"U-uh, I can manage," I reasoned, feeling uneasy about his touch and the distance between our faces. I moved away, fixing my own bandage back.
I can't help but wonder if all of this was just a coincidence. Everything just felt so unrealistic that some Alpha just came up to save me out of nowhere.
There were a couple of seconds of silence until Jacob broke it.
"So, are you considering joining my Pack now?"
The dazzling light in his sapphire eyes was like a window to his soul, which told me how pure he was, so regardless of my worries and trust issues, I answered, "Yes, I would like to be part of your Pack."
Logan broke my ability to trust again, and I should do something for it not to stay that way.
And I'll consider this as a start.
"Great. I'll see you at the training grounds at eight AM for your test. Don't worry, you can for sure beat my Gamma and Beta within ten minutes," he chuckled before leaving the room.
Fighting isn't something new to me, but knowing Jacob's around, I don't know, but I couldn't help but feel nervous.
My shoulders vibrated in surprise when Jacob suddenly showed up in front of me.
"After beating my Gamma, you just need to beat my Beta, then you should be good to go."
I nodded in response while Jacob winked, tapping my left shoulder before he stepped back.
The fight with his Gamma wasn't that hard, though I was challenged, I still managed to beat him down. However, all of my remaining courage left my body when Jacob's Beta stepped in. He is way more muscular than the Gamma and is indeed tall.
My throat went dry when he stopped midway to my position.
He nodded as an indication of a start and, without waiting for him to attack, I immediately lunged, gripping my arms on his waist as I prepared myself to flip him over.
But I was caught off guard when he instead held my waist and tossed me in the air quicker than I could.
I flew and dropped on the hard floor, creating a loud thudding noise.
My face crumpled with pain, but I didn't waste any more seconds and hastily got back up, only to meet his balled-up fist with my face.
Despite the blood that began to drip down my nose, I still rose up; but as if I betrayed myself, before I could even move, my vision began to spin, probably with the intensity of his punch.
I blinked a couple of times until I saw Jacob from my peripheral vision mouthing something I failed to read. Shutting my eyes, I focused on sharpening my hearing senses.
"Come on, Kylie," he continuously chanted.
Failing this test also means I failed him.
Wiping the blood from my nose using the back of my palm, I then dashed to his Beta who was standing a meter away. His arms crossed as if waiting for me to attack him.
As soon as I reached his place, he extended his arm for another punch, but I managed to duck down, avoiding his fist. I curled my fist, putting all of my remaining strength in as I hit his stomach.
He squirmed in pain and I took that chance to hit his face twice. In a snap of seconds, he couldn't catch up with my ceaseless attacks so he stumbled and fell.
Putting my right foot on his chest to finish off the test, I looked back at Jacob with a wide smile on my face.
"I can see you winning that before it even started," he cackled, handing me a handkerchief.
I accepted, wiping the blood off my nose.
Jacob called his Gamma and Beta, forming a small circle.
"So, what do you think? I'm right, aren't I? She can fight really well," Jacob boastfully began.
"Well, she's good, but not good enough to be part of the Pack." Jacob's Gamma's words sliced my hope into tiny pieces.
"I agree with Carlo. She doesn't have what it takes to be part of this pack. So, I'm sorry, Alpha, but I think she couldn't be a member."
