CHAPTER 6 You'll Be Surprised

Ryan's POV

I can't believe I forgot about the meeting my secretary told me about earlier. How can the CEO be late?

What kind of leadership am I even displaying? Hmm. Okay, deep breaths. Let's do this. I noticed that my vehicle wasn't moving as it used to.

"Hey, driver what's going on?" I asked.

"Well sir there seems to be some maintenance work being done on the road it might cause some delay," he replied.

"No not now I'm way too late for this meeting," I yelled to myself.

"How far is the restaurant?" I asked.

"Just a few blocks away. But with this traffic, we might be there in about five minutes more or less." He replied.

I rolled down the window to evaluate the situation, since the restaurant wasn't far I believed I'd get there on foot faster so I decided to take a leap of faith.

"Driver just get there and park the car in the yard. Feel free to go in and get yourself some snacks or something. The card is still with you right?"

"Yes sir but where are you going," he asked.

"I'm going there I think I'll get there faster that way," I replied before exiting the vehicle and hitting the streets.

I got there in a minute or 2 and quickly scanned the place for the reserved seat.

I saw a few people moving away from the reserved area but I didn't pay much attention to them.

My focus was on finding Luke so I could get on with my business and soon enough o set my eyes on him. I moved quickly to meet him.

"What took you so long I've been waiting here for ages," he complained.

Luke takes his job way too seriously sometimes and this is one of those times.

"I was stuck in traffic," I replied.

"That excuse again really?" He asked sarcastically. And sarcastically looked at me.

"I'm telling you that's what happened," I replied.

"If you say so. But try being for your meeting," he pleaded.

"It was traffic,"

"Anyways how is it going?" I asked.

"You just missed the lawyer I think she went to the restroom or something," he replied.

She must have been who I saw earlier well hope she comes back soon.

"So how much progress have you people made?" I inquired.

"Quite a lot. She even sees the case as a good one and it would favor us,"

"That's good to hear," I replied.

This case was a big one and I cannot afford to lose it EC Creations is the best and I cannot let some low-life company come and take over.

I took a glass of wine and drank a bit from it. I've come way too far to go down now.

Since Luke said I just missed the lawyer, it could be that she was the lady I saw leaving the area earlier.

For some reason, she looked familiar but I couldn't depict where I knew her from.

"Luke," I called.

"Give me a minute," I asked.

"Okay but please do not vanish as she did, we still need to finalize these,"

He pleaded.

"Will do."

I smiled at him and moved away. Finding the restroom was a bit challenging, although I come to this place a lot I have never found the need to use it in the first place.

Finally, my search came to an end I approached the door only to hear some noise originating from inside.

It seemed to be a heated argument between a lady and a man.

The awkward thing was that her voice almost sounded like that of the lady I almost hit with my car last week.

What a crazy day this has been. Come to think of it she never contacted me ever since I just hope she is alright.

I opened the door only to encounter a woman who was about to open the door and leave but missed her step and nearly headed for the ground.

Luckily for her, I was there to prevent that, and surprise surprise it was the mystery lady I almost hit with my car.

How the hell did she end up here?

"Help me get rid of my ex," the woman yelled, and all of a sudden.

The next thing I knew her lips were on mine. At this point, I was just speechless lost, and confused all at once.

Her little stunt made the man mad and he just stormed out of the place.

"I'm sorry for all the drama, he is my ex and I just wanted to get rid of him, I had to get you involved," She apologized for her actions.

I wasn't sure to be mad or impressed at her bravery, kissing a stranger to get rid of someone else.

"I'm Ellie by the way." She said.

Well, this day cannot get any surprising.

"You are Ellie?" I asked.

"Yes."

If she is Ellie that can only mean that she is my lawyer what a pleasant surprise.

"I believe we have met before?" I spoke.

"I don't think so," she replied.

"You were the lady I almost ran over last week, the one who was walking on the wrong side of the road?"

She calmly thinks about it before answering.

"Ohh so you were the gentleman who did that. I was lucky I feel so ashamed," She said.

"Don't be it's all okay now I never heard from you ever since that night hope you are all right?" I asked.

"I am I didn't get back to you because I kind of lost the card so I had no choice but to just let go,"

"I'm sorry but I have a meeting with someone, I'm running late."

"Don't worry about it, you'll be surprised."

"I'm Ryan by the way," It was now time for my introduction.

"No way Ryan! The CEO of EC Creations? How did... what the..."
