He's Cute!

Shane's POV

“You're lying.” He said in a voice that made me think he wished I was.

Without saying a word, I reached for my suitcase and brought out the contract he had signed five days ago then handed it over to him.

He quickly snatched it from my hand and skimmed through the pages.

I studied his flushed face and waited for his reaction.

A broad smile escaped my lips as I saw his face fall into despair.

And then he slowly glanced at me. Seeing my expression, fury glittered across his eyes.

“You think this is funny?!” He shot at me. “Because I don't! Cause I'll be very uncomfortable working with you!”

I will also be uncomfortable. We can both terminate the contract if I wanted but… I decided not to.

His cute angry face is so amusing. Especially when he's flustered… like now.

At the office, everyone is terrified of me, but he isn't; maybe it was because we hooked up before he became my employee.

I could really use someone cute to tease when I'm bored. And I think he's the perfect person for that.

When I saw him standing in the living of my house, I, too, was surprised. I wondered what the hell he was doing there. And then it dawned on me that he was the one that Maggie had appointed to fill in for her.

But growing up, I had to learn how to mask my emotions and adapt to new situations.

“Okay, let's do this.” He protested desperately. “You don't want me as your assistant, right? Same here, I don't want to want to work for you. So, we're on the same page, so why don't we both terminate the contract together?”

“Who said I don't want you working as my assistant?”

“Huh?” He gaped at me.

“And besides,” I continued, enjoying his flustered face, “The office is swarmed with paperwork, so I don't really have time to look for new employees.”

The despair on his face grew further.

“Well, there's gotta be something we can do!” He said earnestly, his eyes begging.

Did he really hate me that much?

Wasn't he the one pleading with me to fuck the hell outta him? What's with the sudden change?

“We're already running late,” I said firmly in my bossy voice. “Drive. This conversation is over.”

“But…”

“I said drive!” I barked and he flinched.

He's cute even when he's scared.

Then he frowned and bit his lips. I could have sworn he wanted to cry. And the hate in his eyes only made him more cute.

Wait… why do I think he's cute?

He turned around and started the car, then drove to the office.

The drive was a swift and awkward one. I guess being here with me made it so suffocating for him to handle, and he wanted nothing but to stay away from me as much as possible. Funny.

He slowed down when he reached our company, which read Wells Enterprises, and then he drove to the parking lot and then parked.

He sat still waiting for me to get out.

But I didn't.

He swiftly turned around and questioned me with his eyes, “Well, aren't you getting off?”

“No!” I said simply. “Your job responsibilities include opening the car door for me When I'm getting in or out of the car.”

“Are you kidding me?” He bellowed, his eyes popping out. “Oh God! This is ridiculous!”

“Open the door,” I said firmly, but deep down I wanted to laugh. “Now.”

He mumbled something and got out of the car, then he opened the car door, his face pulled in a frown.

“Get the suitcase,” I ordered as I got out of the car and then headed to the elevator.

If eyes were lasers, I'd be six feet under by now. His eyes glared daggers at me.

I reached the elevator and pressed the call button. Seconds later, he joined me, with a frown on his face.

The elevator came and we rode up to the last floor. We reached the floor and the elevator swung open.

My employees were already waiting for me. It was their morning routine and anyone who missed it might as well consider themselves fired.

“Morning Mr Wells.” They all chorused in unison.

I surreptitiously glanced at him and as expected, he was overwhelmed by all of it.

“Everyone, as we all know, Maggie had gotten into a terrible accident,” I said, “... and this here is Henry Jones.” I beckoned to Henry, “He'll be my temporary assistant till Maggie recovers. And I expect you all to treat him with the respect he fully deserves. Am I clear?”

“Yes sir!” Everyone chorused.

“Now get to work,” I ordered and everyone else began to head to their cubicles. I turned to Henry and told him to come with me.

He trailed behind me, with his eyes glancing around the whole building.

The secretary's office was a pathway to mine.

“This will be your office, and these are the paperwork you'll be reviewing before sending them to me,” I said, pointing at the heap of papers on his desk. “And make sure you go through all of them by the end of today.

His mouth flew open in shock. “All of them?”

I gave him a cocky smile “Yes, all of them.”
