CHAPTER 5

Isabella’s POV

I sat on the edge of the bed in the big room I had been moved to. The room was quite different from the other, the air felt suffocating, thick with despair and anticipation. I clenched my fists in my lap, my nails digging into my palms as I tried to control my trembling.

The door creaked open, and Octavia strode in, her heels clicking against the stone floor. She looked at me up and down, her cold expression unreadable.

“You’ve been reassigned,” Octavia said, her tone sharp.  I blinked, confusion flickering across my face.

“Reassigned?” I asked unsure of what she meant.

“Your original client has been replaced,” Octavia continued. “A VIP has requested you, and I don’t need to remind you how important this is. Do not offend him.”

A chill ran down my spine.

“Why me?” I asked, my voice trembling. Octavia’s lips curled into a mocking smile.

“Luck, perhaps. Or maybe fate. Either way, you’d better make yourself presentable. You don’t want to disappoint him.”

With that, she turned on her heel and left, the door slamming shut behind her.

I sat in stunned silence, my mind racing. Why would a VIP request me? I am a wolfless omega, a worthless being in this cruel place. It didn’t make sense.

I didn’t have much time to dwell on my thoughts. The door creaked open again, and this time, the air in the room shifted.

A man stepped inside, and my breath caught in my throat.  He was tall and commanding, his tailored suit fitting his broad frame perfectly. His dark hair was neatly styled, and his sharp, chiseled features gave him an aura of authority. But it was his eyes that struck me the most—deep, piercing blue, like the ocean in the dead of night.

My heart pounded as I stared at him, unable to look away. This man didn’t belong in Hell’s pit. He was too handsome, too regal, too… magnetic.

Then it happened.

A warmth spread through my chest, igniting something deep within me. A soft, unfamiliar voice echoed in my mind, filling me with hope and fear.

“Mate.”

My wolf had awakened, and it was calling to him. My lips parted as I tried to make sense of what was happening.

“Mate?” I whispered, my voice barely audible.

The man froze, his intense gaze locking onto me.

Something flickered in his eyes—shock, disbelief, and a trace of anger.  He took a step back, his jaw tightening as though he were trying to suppress the emotions coursing through him. Without a word, he turned on his heel and stormed out, leaving me stunned and confused.

Alessandro’s POV

I walked swiftly through the corridors of Hell’s pit, my footsteps echoing in the oppressive silence. My mind was a storm of emotions, my usually calm demeanor shaken to its core.

“Mate.”

The word rang in my ears, haunting me. I had not believed it at first. For years, I had come to terms with the fact that I would never find my mate. The curse on my family had ensured that much.

And yet, there she was.

Her wide green eyes had stared up at me with fear and awe, her soft voice calling me the one thing I had thought I would ever be—someone’s mate.

I climbed into my car, slamming the door behind me. My hands gripped the steering wheel tightly as I tried to steady my breathing.

How could this happen? How could she be my mate? A girl in Hell’s pit—a wolfless omega, no less. The one place I never imagined finding a mate, and now she is the one who could change everything.

I started the engine and pulled out of the estate, the familiar hum of the car doing little to calm my nerves.

The headlights cut through the darkness of the winding road as I tried to process the storm raging within me.

I didn’t want this. I had accepted my life as it was—lonely but manageable. Finding a mate had never been part of the plan. And now, everything had changed.

My thoughts kept drifting back to her—her pale, delicate features, the way her voice trembled when she said the word “mate.” She looked so lost, so broken.

And yet, despite everything, she is mine.

I couldn’t leave her there. Not in Hell’s pit.

As the city lights came into view, I made my decision.

I would take her away.

Whatever it cost, whatever it took, Isabella would not remain in that hellhole.
