Chapter 7

Aurora's POV:

Getting beat up by those maids yesterday, taught me three things.

Firstly, it won't be easy to get to Jason, with Lydia in the way.

Secondly, Jason had started to fall for this lowly slave called Melissa. It doesn't seem like love, but his curiosity has been piqued.

And thirdly, Judging from what I heard Jason whisper yesterday, maids are never assigned to do hard jobs. Which means that the barn keeper from yesterday was in on the whole plan.

So therefore, taking Lydia down won't be as easy as I expected. But it would definitely be worth the fun.

Taking a deep breath, I studied my room for the 100th time. It was nothing like Jason's room which I was made to stay there yesterday, while receiving treatment. And Jason had promised to get to the bottom of everything as soon as I was ready.

I stared at the bandages I had wrapped around my arms and sighed. As the Vampire Queen, I was practically untouchable.

I healed quickly and was extremely strong. But being Melissa, a weak Omega. Meant that I had no strength to even heal myself.

Suddenly, the door swung open and Jason stepped inside. Smiling widely, he walked up to me. “Are you ready?” He asked. “All the maids are gathered in the garden, so all you have to do is point at them.”

He helped me out of the bed, and to the garden. Where I was made to stand before over 15 maids.

“Yesterday, there was an incident.” He began. “My personal maid, who has a higher rank than any of you present here, was beaten up and abandoned at the barn. It would be advisable for the person responsible to step out right now, to avoid getting killed when pointed out.”

No one stepped out, so he turned to me. “Go ahead.”

I smiled widely, as my eyes traced the face of every single maid present. I could see the questions in their eyes.

What is so special about her?

Why is the Alpha going to such extreme lengths for her?

Why her?

Being the Vampire Queen in Melissa's body has its advantages. And one of them is manipulation. And that is what I plan to do as Melissa, to manipulate Jason into thinking that he cares.

I had already achieved the first step. And that was, piquing his interest by being mysterious.

Every man hates a mysterious woman, especially one who seems smart in all areas. And once their curiosity is piqued, it's easy to win them over.

I scoffed loudly, then I slowly lifted my hands up with my index finger pointed out. I went back and forth from the first maid to the last, enjoying how everyone's eyes widened as my finger went past them.

I paused mid-air and turned to Jason. “I don't remember.” I said, with teary eyes.

“How is that possible?” He questioned.

I stuttered. “I-I am so sorry Lord Alpha, but everything is just messed up in my memory. And I can't decipher which face is which.”

He sighed loudly, then asked. “Do you feel any better?”

I nodded. “Yes I do, Alpha.”

“Good. You should return to the servants quarters now.” And with that, he turned around and walked out of the garden.

As soon as he was out of sight, the maids hissed loudly, then walked out of the garden one after the other.

I had several reasons for not wanting to attack Lydia head on. The most important, being her influence.

She still had a lot of power over Jason, and his Pack. Everyone expected that she would be Luna, so no one dared to question her audacity.

Over the next few days, I had a change of routine. From scrubbing floors, washing sheets, and picking weeds. I had moved to preparing Jason's bath, setting his clothes out, giving him massages, and serving his meal.

He barely ever ate outside his room, unless it was with the Pack Elders, during an emergency meeting.

I had just laid out Jason's clothes for the day, and was returning to my room for a quick nap, when the bathroom door was suddenly pushed open. And Jason stepped out with a towel draped over his waist.

My eyes voluntarily found its way to his torso and then to his lower region. I shrieked when I realized the dirty thoughts I had in my head.

As Aurora, Jason and I had a perfect sex life. Maybe a part of me missed his touch, but a much larger part of me definitely hoped to see his hands broken in two.

Shaking my head, I closed my eyes tightly and bowed my head. “Forgive me, Lord Alpha.” I said, with folded hands.

“Those clothes…” He began, and I looked up. “They seem a bit too light for hunting.”

My eyes widened. “What?”

“It's winter, Melissa.” He replied. “I can't possibly wear that outside, unless of course you want me to freeze to death.”

I waved my hands back and forth. “The question wasn't in regards to your choice of outfit. But rather, to your plans.” I explained. “You did say that you hadn't gone out hunting in months, so why the sudden change of heart?”

“Well…” He trailed off. “Because, I am less busy and Lydia seemed keen on going for a hunt.”

Lydia?

Of course it's her, she’s so fixated on her securing her position beside Jason.

Jason cleared his throat, and I snapped back to reality. I had no idea what to say or ask, so I let him speak.

“You should get ready as well.”

“Why?” I questioned. “What for?”

“You should know better not to question the Alpha. However, you have never been the type to follow the rules.” He said, chuckling.

Then he added. “That aside, you will be following me to the hunting ground. As my personal maid of course.”
