Chapter 18: RESCUE

ENZO POV

“Carlos Lombardi has my Diana” I said to Franco as I tried to calm my nerves by lighting a ciggerate even tho my head was on fire.

“Have you asked Francesca on how to go about it?”he asked calmly while I shot him an annoying glare.

“You should leave Francesca out of it, you know how much she despise and detest diana, what makes you think she would be off help?”

“What your plan then, how do you want to go about it ?” He asked while a smile creeped to my face

"I've got the son of a bitch who was sent by Carlos," I growled, my anger still simmering. "He tried to shoot me dead."

The other guy's eyes narrowed suspiciously."Where is he?" he demanded, his voice low and threatening.

I jerked my head towards the door. "In the torture room. Let's go ask him some questions."

We pushed through the door together, stepping into the dimly lit room.

The air was thick with the smell of sweat and fear. Our prisoner was strapped to a chair, his eyes wide with terror as we approached.

As we entered the torture room, the prisoner's eyes darted back and forth between us, his face pale with fear. I could see the terror in his eyes, and it only fueled my anger.

"Who sent you?" I demanded, my voice firm and commanding.

The prisoner hesitated, his eyes darting towards the other guy before returning to me. He remained silent, his lips pressed together in a tight line.

I took a step closer to him, my fists clenched. "Don't play dumb," I growled. "We know you were sent by Carlos.

What we want to know is why."

The prisoner's eyes flashed with defiance, but he still didn't speak. I could see the fear in his eyes, but he was determined not to crack.

The other guy stepped forward, his eyes cold and hard. "We can do this the easy way or the hard way," he said, his voice firm. "Your choice."

The prisoner swallowed hard, but still didn't speak. The other guy nodded to someone behind me, and I heard the sound of footsteps echoing through the room.

A moment later, a hand reached around me and grasped the prisoner's wrist, holding it in place. The prisoner's eyes went wide as a knife was pressed against his finger.

"Last chance," the other guy said, his voice firm. "Tell us what we want to know."

The prisoner's eyes darted back and forth between us, his face pale with fear. But he still didn't speak.

With a swift motion, the knife sliced through the prisoner's finger, severing it from his hand. The prisoner screamed in agony, his body thrashing against the restraints.

Normally i would feel disgust at it, i usually prefer the person being dead once, but with the fact that my men were injured and some dead, and the fact that they had my Diana i couldn’t care less and  I knew it was necessary. We had to know what Carlos was planning, and this was the only way to get the information.

The prisoner's screams slowly subsided, replaced by sobs of pain and fear. The other guy leaned forward, his eyes cold and hard.

"Tell us what we want to know," he repeated, his voice firm.

This time, the prisoner didn't hesitate. "I was sent to kill you," he gasped, his voice shaking with fear. "Carlos wants you dead."

I felt a surge of anger at his words. Carlos had tried to have me killed, and now he had my sister captive. I was going to make him pay.

"What else do you know?"  One of my men demanded, his eyes still cold and hard.

The prisoner hesitated, his eyes darting back and forth between us. But he knew he had no choice. He had to tell us everything.

"Carlos has a plan," he gasped, his voice shaking with fear. "He's using Diana as his leverage and he doesn’t plan on releasing her"

I felt a surge of rage at his words. Carlos was going to regret the day he ever crossed me.

"How can we infiltrate the compound?" I asked the prisoner, my eyes locked on his.

But he refused to budge, his lips pressed together in a tight line. I could see the fear in his eyes, but he was determined not to talk.

Franco stepped forward, his eyes cold and hard. "I'll take off another finger if you don't talk," he growled.

The prisoner's eyes went wide with terror, and he nodded hastily. "Okay, okay! I'll tell you!" he exclaimed.

"There's a secret back door," he gasped, his voice shaking with fear. "I can give you the access code. Diana's room is also close to the door. You can set her free from there."

I nodded, a plan forming in my mind. "You've been very helpful," I said, as I turned to leave.

But the prisoner's voice stopped me. "Won't you release me?" he shouted, his voice desperate.

I didn't even bother to look back. "You're not going anywhere," Franco said, his voice firm. "You're going to stay right here until we're done with Carlos."

I nodded in agreement, my mind already focused on the task ahead. Franco and I gathered our men and set off towards Carlos's compound, ready to take him down and rescue  Diana.

I knew I owed Diana an explanation - and an apology - for everything she'd been through. But first, we had to get her out of there.

We snuck into the compound through a back door, threading carefully so as not to alert or raise any suspicion that the building has been infiltrated.

I gently shook her awake, trying not to startle her. "Hey, Diana, we've got to get moving," I whispered, slowly standing up from her bed. "Just follow Franco, okay?"

Diana's eyes flew open, and she sat up with a jolt. "Enzo?" she whispered, her voice shaking. "You came for me?"

We left quietly and when we were almost at the exit a siren wailed and the door were immediately locked shut.

“What are you doing here?” Carlos said as he emerged in front of us.
