Chapter 29 : POWER
ENZO'S POV
I banged my fist tightly on the table as I stared at the Man chuckling opposite me.
“You can't threaten me, Don, The police are like brothers to me.” The man said with Mockery yet pride.
“The police?” I scoffed as I brought my hands to my jsw to stroke my beards. “ Who told you I wanted to threaten you with the police Mr Louis?” I asked and the man's face changed.
“Then why do you come here, alone?” He asked, still staring at me.
Louis was a drug baron, he transported illegal drugs to the country and sold them to politicians in turn for young ladies. I wouldn't have been here if not because I heard he had started trafficking minors, young girls for sexual purposes.
“With the tip of my finger, I would destroy you completely, Louis.” I growled and the latter flinched.
“ Now listen carefully to me, I would give you 12 hours to confess to your crimes and swear allegiance to me. Or else, I won't be able to save you from my own wrath.” I spat out and I saw the man's vein popping out from his head, he was filled with rage.
“You can't come to my domain and threaten me Enzo Moretti! Don't you like your position as Don? Just mind your fucking business and…
That was the height of it, He didn't know the power I had yet. I swiftly landed a punch to his face and he stumbled backwards in shock trying to regain his composure.
“How dare you!” he yelled and the door burst open, revealing his heavily armed guards, who sneered at me with smug confidence. I let out a cold chuckle as I sized them up - five men, no match for me.
I calmly wiped the blood from my hands with a handkerchief, stepping out of Louis' club. As I stretched my tense muscles, one of them hurled a chain at me, but he was the first to fall.
I got in my car and drove to my house. My business in this city was done… or was it?
“Welcome Mr Enzo.” Franco spoke as he glanced at my appearance.” What happened to you?” He asked.
“Louis tried to play tough by sending his men against me. I beat them to a pulp together with him.” I smirked and Franco Nodded.
“Some of the Mafia lords are still trying hard to accept you as the Don of this Territory. D'Angelo had left a trademark and some of his loyal allies had fled.” He reported and I shrugged.
My Father was the Don before D'Angelo took over, I just acted like he did, and if anyone is finding it difficult to accept me, I see them as my enemy and would be eliminated immediately.” I stared at an open space as I spoke these words viciously.
“Send some of my men to Louis place tomorrow morning and get his confession, select the best hackers and journalist to spread his news. I would use him to teach others a lesson.” I ordered.
“Yes, Boss.” Franco nodded.
I glanced around and realized how quiet the house was.
“Is she in her room?” I asked, obviously referring to Diana.
“She's at the garden and Miss Francesca left to see her brother.” Franco replied and I frowned upon hearing the latter news.
“Those two, they aren't close… Why did she go to see him?” I asked suspiciously.
“I will find out now Sir, Just go in and rest.” Franco cajoled me and I nodded before moving away.
Just as I was about to take the steps to my room, I suddenly got reminded that Diana was in the garden. I needed to talk to her, ever since that day, we hadn't spoken so I changed my direction and left for the garden.
I touched my nose as I felt blood oozing out. I smirked as I recalled the guys hitting my nose with a rod, I didn't know I had suffered a broken nose.
“You're bleeding!”
“Come with me!” Diana yelled as she held my wrist and took me out of the garden. In no time, we were at the Lobby and she sat me down before going inside to get help.
Diana came back a few minutes later with Franco and a box of First-aid kit. I watched how she skillfully handled the kit and soon, my nose stopped bleeding, with a tip of cotton wool stuck into a nostril and a light bandage above my nose.
“Much better.” She announced and looked at me.
“Why didn't you take care of yourself? You come in looking wretched and beaten and think it's a good thing?”
“If Mr Enzo can come home looking like this, I wonder how his opponents are going to be.” Franco supported me and I smiled recalling how I broke their bones.
Diana was startled at his words and I watched her blink countlessly. She gulped slowly and glanced at me again.
“Take care of your wound then, I will be in my room.” She announced and We looked at her in confusion.
Why was she returning to bed? Was she angry with what Franco said?
“Why…
“Nothing, Enjoy the rest of your evening, reminiscing the way you beat them.” She spoke and left almost immediately.
“What's up with her?” Franco asked as he watched her retreating figure mix with darkness.
“ Right from small, she hated fighting.” I answered.
“And her Father was the Don?” Franco asked in disbelief.
“He tried his best to keep her away from any fight. She had never been involved in any fight.” I spoke.
“I never knew… Does it mean she didn't live with her Dad?” He asked.
“She grew up in the D'Angelos mansion, But her strict Father made sure she never came across a Mafia.” I replied, recalling how we escaped the high barricades to visit the gaming centre with our other friends.
“Do you regret it?” Franco asked me and I swallowed hard.
