Chapter 2

KAYLA'S POV.

The sounds of music and laughter greeted me as I stepped onto the porch, a jarring contrast to the silence that always fills the corners of my mind. Silence that was being borne from endless nights of tears and witnessing gruesome murder of innocent souls.

Normally, I had always avoided this place as it was a claustrophobic labyrinth; a place meant for wasting away time and a succor for hopeless people.

But tonight, it was different, a strange feeling of calmness washed over me as I walked into the confines of the garden.

Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, dancing energetically to the rhythm of the fast music from the loud speakers.

I walked through the crowd, my eyes peering through everyone as I searched for the perfect place to wash my plains away,my steps were unstable and awkward.

I sighted an empty seat at the dark corner and I approached it fast, as I was already getting uncomfortable from the constant gazes of everyone on me.

“Excuse me, dear” I signaled to the bartender who hurriedly walked past me, trying to complete the orders of the nagging customers who were already running out of patience.

“Two bottles of Vodka” I ordered him, withdrawing the debit card I had stolen from my father and handed it over to him.

I paid for the drink with a fake smile plastered on my face.

As soon as the bartender handed over the drink, I gulped them, shots after shots, loving the feeling of freedom and power that thrummed down my veins.

I giggled as the buzzing in my head had begun disappearing.

All my life, I had never knew joy, only pain, suffering and torture.

And now all I wanted was to stop thinking, to stop feeling my pain and escape  the reality of the world where I have no choice.

I grabbed another shot and after gulping it down, I let out an annoying yelp.

“Refill my cup” I ordered the bartender, my voice hoarse and shaky.

After taking another shot, my vision was already blurry and in what seemed like some nanoseconds, the chair threw me off balance,  my body rolling over the floor.

I attempted standing up, but as soon as my feet reached the ground, my world came crashing, my feet burning beneath me.

I let out an outburst of unhinged laughter and attempted sitting up on my seat but my feet were too weak to carry me.

I looked around the hall, no one was looking at me as everyone seemed busy, dancing to the beats of the music and drowning away their sorrows.

My eyes glazed over and my feets were shaky, unable to carry my whole body.

An intrusive thought popped into my mind as I watched a couple who were immersed in the world of fantasies.

Their loud, pleasurable kisses sent a strong feeling of desire through my veins. A freedom I had never enjoyed.

“Hi” I heard a hoarse, baritone voice behind my back.

Behind me was the most handsome man I had ever seen.

He was tall, dark and slender, his black suit hugging him in every place, enhancing his mighty arbs and broad chests.

“Ugh..” I minced, caught off guard by his impeccable features.

“You have been muttering to yourself all this while, are you sure you are fine?” He queried, his eyebrows tilted.

I was so stupid to have left my mouth wide open as I stared at his natural broad features.

His husky voice sent sensations of wetness down my thighs.

I quickly redirected my face away from his face, trying so hard to avoid his direct gaze.

“Does anyone really care?”

“No one cares!!” I yelled, the loud music overshadowing my voice.

I let out a sharp breath, my gaze still fixated on the ground where I sat.

“I just want peace, I want to be left alone”

“Is that too much to ask for.., Huh?”

I whispered, as the stench of alcohol emanating from my mouth filled the air.

I watched as he covered his mouth with his hands, a soft chuckle escaping his lips as he made every effort to mock my wasted state.

“What if you get none of these you wished for?”

“How about more troubles added to your life, how does it sound” he questioned, his face void of emotions.

For the first time, I felt an undying urge to punch him so hard on the face.

“Come here” he whispered slowly, offering his hand to help me stand up.

I stared at him for sometime, wondering what exactly he was up to.

“I love it when you are angry, you look so beautiful” he smirked, dragging me up from the floor despite my resistance.

Something about my new stranger excited me and wanted this moment to last forever.

No man had ever given me such attention before, that may be the reason I am getting swayed off already.

“What could make a beautiful girl like you wasting away here, uttering gibberish words to herself” I heard his voice as I staggered behind him while he led the way.

I attempted cursing him but as I opened my mouth to talk, a throbbing headache overwhelmed me, causing me to shut up.

“Could you just lead me and let me rest!” I yelled, placing my hands on my head to stave off my headache.

“Not that you ever seeked my help” he said amidst laughs. He seemed as though he enjoyed my banter.

His voice was clearer and sounded so sweet in my ears.

With my temper and attitude, I expected him to shout and yell at me but he remained calm.

With a few more staggering steps, he opened a door and led me in.

“Make yourself comfortable, you seem wasted” he instructed, while walking towards the bathroom.

It was not long before he came out of the bathroom, a white short towel slightly tied around his waist.

As he walked closer to the bed where I laid, my eyes met the mighty shape between his thighs and I let out a sharp gasp unintentionally.

“It seems I am causing you discomfort, you want to go home?” He asked, our gazes interlocked.

“No” I grit out, trying to pull myself away from his embrace.

“You have those enchanting eyes that don't go unnoticed, you know?” He teased, pulling me slightly on the cheeks

I could see desire, pure desire and the comfort I had always craved emanating from his eyes.

“I ..want you” I struggled with my sentence, not knowing when they escaped my lips.

He let out a hearty laughter, surprised at my openness.

“You're that loose?” he scrunched his face in disappointment.

His words came like a knife, stabbing my heart mercilessly.

“Please, let me go” I defiantly responded, not ready to take more of his mockery.

I attempted walking away, breaking away from his embrace but his subtle hands held me back, his gaze still fixated on my eyes as though he left some treasure in there.

“You are beautiful, you know?” He muttered slowly, drawing my head to his and engaging me in a long kiss I could no longer resist.

“Please.. I need you” the words came out slowly as my thighs burned with the unquenchable desire of having him whole.

When he placed me gently on the king-sized bed, my red fluffy hair sprawled over the bed, I let out a soft groan of pleasure.

As soon as he buried his head between my thighs, while caressing my waist slowly, I knew this night was definitely going to be a long one.
