6-The Werewolves Hate Me
Yuna:
"I didn't mean to. I was just walking by—," I began to hastily explain, gulping down the fear of him dragging me into his room against my will, hitting me all at once.
"Tik tok, tik tok!" he clicked his tongue, tilting his head to the side to scare me.
"I'm not eighteen yet," I quickly recalled the perfect lie that always worked—until there were Gammas trying to touch me.
He stopped and narrowed his eyes at me. Then, in a very steady way, he leaned over my shoulder and whispered, "A little birdie told me you are nineteen."
I lost my breath at that moment. The beat my heart skipped was probably so loud that he heard it because a mocking smirk spread over his lips instantly.
"How did you—," I stuttered, confused about how he could have known unless he went out of his way to get information on me. It's not like werewolves or humans sat around and gossiped. That was scary and creepy.
"Does it matter? Now quickly make a decision before I get impatient," he leaned in even more, his whisper brushing against my ear.
As I began to lose my breath, I heard a disturbance behind him. He noticed it too, so he moved his face away from my ear and turned his head to see who it was.
It was his mother, Lady Jane.
"What is going on here?" she hastily approached us, grabbing her son away from me and then facing me.
"I was—," before I could finish, her hand landed on my cheek, and my head spun. She had surprising strength for an Omega.
"You filthy human, do you think you can be with my son?" she started yelling, shaking in anger and pointing a finger in my face.
I was startled by her sudden arrival and the way she was coming at me. But at that point, I knew nobody would listen to me or care about what I had to say.
"Tell me what was going on here!" his mother yelled, and I shrank back.
That's when Kedron finally decided to open his damn mouth. He held his mother's arm and pulled her to the side, "Nothing, it was just a hookup," he reassured her, and her face started to relax.
But my heart sank in my chest as his mother turned to him.
I didn’t say anything because as long as she calmed down, I would be fine. I just needed to get out of here before anyone else heard the conversation.
"Really, it was just a one-time thing?" her eyes searched for the answer she wanted to hear.
"It was just a hookup, just a one-time thing, Mom. And if it wasn’t her, it would have been someone else. She’s not that special," he reassured her, making her take a deep breath of relief.
I guess he knew that if his mother started to believe he was interested in other creatures, she would get even more paranoid. But of course, nothing else mattered, not even my dignity.
But as if it wasn’t already bad enough, someone else joined.
"Oh, so your son is interested in humans?" It was Lady Andrea, looking smug.
My heart skipped a beat because she was Denzel’s mother—the one lady I wanted to impress so badly.
Now that was something I was truly afraid of. I didn’t want to be someone who had slept with Kedron. But right then, I was in a tough situation. I saw Denzel’s mother step forward and pass me a quick glance. As she raised her brow, I understood she remembered me from the other night.
I could tell she wasn’t very fond of me from the start, especially since I was always getting into trouble.
"Oh, so that’s the one he’s sleeping with?" she said with a smirk on her lips.
But Kedron’s mother didn’t back down. She quickly straightened her posture and fired back at her.
"It was just a one-time thing. My son would never fall for anyone who isn’t a powerful she-wolf," her words made Denzel’s mother’s smirk fade. I guess she really wanted Kedron to fall for a human like me.
"Oh," Lady Andrea sighed, not looking so victorious anymore.
"And you, human girl," Lady Jane yelled at me, "you had one night with him, so be grateful that you got to be with the best man for a night. Now get the hell out of here!" she hissed at me, dismissing me as if I were nothing.
I wanted to tell them it wasn’t true, but that would only attract more attention and eventually reach Denzel’s ears. I wanted to be the one to tell Denzel about this incident in private and make him understand that I didn’t do anything with his brother.
So, I decided to rush out of there without explaining anything to those who would clearly take offense at me calling the hybrid Alpha Prince a liar. But as I kept walking past them, I came face-to-face with the one person I was dreading to hear all this.
It was Denzel. His eyes were red, and tears were forming in them. He looked both upset and angry at the same time.
"D—," I tried saying his name, but he didn’t even let me finish.
"Get out of here," he pointed at the hallway, yelling in my face.
"I said, get the fuck out of here!" he yelled again, making my body shudder.
Was this it? Was he done with me? Would he not even let me explain myself?
"Ugh! This girl is so clingy," it was Lady Andrea, who probably didn’t even like that I was standing so close to her son. She rushed over, grabbed my arm, and pushed me away, shoving me toward the hallway.
In tears, I began to leave with a broken heart and shattered hopes. I thought Denzel would at least stand up for me and tell everyone I wasn’t like that. But I guess he believed what he heard, not what he knew about me.
