Chapter 106

Scarlett’s POV

When I opened my eyes again, the familiar mirrored ceiling came into view, my reflection clearly visible. This was the guest room at Majestic Oak Villa—I knew this room all too well.

This is...

I lay in bed, making eye contact with my reflection. That woman looked haggard and disheveled, completely different from the perfectly polished me of everyday life.

A moment later, I vaguely recalled that something had happened last night. But these memories were just fragments—I couldn't exactly remember what had occurred.

I remember going to Velvet Mirage... being with Sandra... and then Alexander appeared...

After a few minutes of recovery, I finally sat up, my temples throbbing painfully. Fresh clothes were placed beside the bed, with my phone lying quietly nearby.

After changing, I picked up my phone and found several messages from Camila. The messages said that after I left, Sandra had been severely reprimanded by Casey, and Lillian had also been scolded by George.

So I really did go to Velvet Mirage last night...

I stared at the messages on my phone, yet couldn't recall anything about leaving. Some scattered images flashed in my mind; I seemed to remember Alexander returning from Suncrest City.

But that wasn't right—Luke had clearly messaged me that Alexander would be staying in Suncrest City for a few days. Why had he suddenly returned?

Still, my current surroundings confirmed my suspicion: Alexander had brought me back to Majestic Oak Villa last night.

Did he do anything to me? Between us...

Shaking my head, I tried to dispel these thoughts, but still felt a splitting headache. I decided to go downstairs to look for some pain relievers.

Downstairs, I didn't see Alexander, only Luke outside walking a dog.

"Miss Smith, you're awake. Still feeling dizzy? I made some soup. Should I bring you a bowl?" Luke secured the dog and headed toward the kitchen upon seeing me.

I didn't ask much, just settled comfortably on the couch.

Soon, Luke returned with a steaming bowl of soup.

"Miss Smith, last night with Mr. Gray... do you remember anything?" Luke's expression was somewhat strange as he handed me the bowl, clearly hinting at something.

I shook my head as I accepted the soup. "Did something happen last night?"

I really don't remember anything; it's a complete blank. Did I do something stupid?

Luke's expression became even more peculiar: "You really don't remember anything?"

His reaction made my heart sink. From Luke's response, it was clear that whatever had happened last night was not good.

It must be terrible...

"Just tell me directly..." I summoned my courage, preparing myself for the worst news.

Luke raised an eyebrow and said: "Last night you threw up all over the boss, and you kept clinging to him, demanding that he admit he likes you."

Hearing Luke's words, I almost dropped the bowl in my hands, instantly feeling mortified and embarrassed enough to want to disappear from this world.

Oh my God! Did I really do those things?

I had absolutely no recollection; the fragments in my mind couldn't piece together a complete picture.

This is terrible... Alexander must despise me now. What if he refuses to help me find Yvette because of this? What will I do then?

"Miss Smith..." Seeing my pale face, Luke seemed concerned and quickly tried to comfort me: "Don't worry, the boss is actually quite forgiving toward women. He'll just be cold to you for a day or two at most."

"That's not what I'm worried about..." I suddenly realized there was an even more serious issue.

What if Alexander took advantage of my drunken state to question me about Obsidian Palace? If I accidentally leaked something, the consequences would be unimaginable...

"Luke, did I say anything else to Alexander?" I asked anxiously, my voice trembling slightly.

Luke pursed his lips: "That, I don't know..."

Of course, he wouldn't know about any more private conversations.

I couldn't help but sigh, feeling increasingly uneasy. Partly due to the discomfort of the hangover, and partly due to the fear of possibly having leaked secrets.

After finishing the soup, I planned to leave. Although the soup had effectively soothed my hungover stomach, I still didn't look well.

Seeing my poor condition, Luke suggested: "Miss Smith, why don't you rest a bit longer before going back? If you have any concerns, wait until the boss returns and ask him yourself."

I nodded distractedly—it seemed that was the only option.

Coming back to my senses slightly, I asked: "Where did Alexander go?"

Luke scratched his head, his expression somewhat complicated: "He went to the Harber family early this morning. I heard Miss Harber attempted suicide last night. She was rescued just in time, but she's still causing a scene now."

Lillian? Suicide?

I suddenly became more alert, although Lillian and I weren't close, hearing such news was still shocking.

Speaking of which, Alexander might have many women around him, but only Lillian could be his fiancée.

"Miss Smith, don't think too much..." Luke seemed to notice my thoughts. "Actually, since the boss's incident, he hasn't seen Miss Harber for several years. If it weren't for this marriage arrangement made by his parents before they passed away, he wouldn't marry her."

Luke's explanation actually made me feel like he was hiding something. Why would he specifically explain these things to me? I don't care anyway.

"You go ahead with your work, I'll stay a bit longer before heading back," I said. I didn't want to continue this conversation with him anymore.
