Chapter 67

Scarlett's POV

Moans, heavy breathing, and the sound of skin against skin filled the entire space.

I immediately recognized my voice, mixed with Alexander's low growls. My face turned white, a mixture of fear and anger surging through every nerve in my body like an electric current.

The car made a sharp braking sound as I slammed on the brakes and pulled over to the side of the road, my entire body both unbearably itchy and furious enough to kill.

"You recorded it?" My voice trembled with shock, even my lips were quivering.

"No, not a recording. It's a short video. Would you like to see it?"

Alexander raised one eyebrow leisurely, his eyes flickering with dangerous light, his finger sliding gently across the phone screen, seemingly ready to display more evidence at any moment.

"You pervert!" I shouted, my voice filled with uncontrollable anger and a barely detectable trace of shame.

"Pervert? I thought you would like it. After all, it proves how captivating you are." Alexander pretended to contemplate, his finger lightly touching his lower lip, his gaze fixed directly on me, carrying a naked sense of possession.

"What should I like? That you secretly filmed us having sex?" I was shaking with rage, fingers tightly clenched into fists, nails digging deep into my palms.

"Then why did you deliberately provoke Lillian?" Alexander's eyes stared directly at me. "If you don't have feelings for me, why would you do that?"

His eyes pierced into me, as if trying to penetrate all my thoughts.

"I didn't!" I denied vehemently, though feeling a sense of guilt inside.

Alexander made no comment, only turning up the volume. Those unbearable sounds echoed in the small car compartment, like a torture I couldn't escape.

When I reached to turn it off, he quickly grabbed my wrist, his thumb pressing hard enough to make me gasp in pain.

"Why is it so hard to admit you like me?" His voice carried a hint of genuine confusion.

I almost laughed out loud. Where did he get this ridiculous confidence?

"Just because we've slept together a few times, you think I would fall for you?"

I yanked my hand away forcefully, stating firmly: "I don't like you!"

Alexander nodded calmly, as if accepting this fact.

"Fine, then let's continue listening." He paused, then continued: "Seriously, Scarlett, what else did Mr. Thomas instruct you to do? Besides seducing me?"

"I don't know what you're talking about!" Every time I heard the words "Mr. Thomas" from this man's lips, I felt every bone in my body tremble.

"Still denying it?" Alexander's voice mixed with mockery and accusation.

I hopelessly asked back: "Which eye of yours saw me trying to seduce you?"

Alexander reached out his hand, landing on my knee, then forcefully parted my legs with his fingers.

"Here, but it's not enough. Your level... well, it's only because I'm quite good that I notice anything. If it were any other man, they'd hardly feel any attraction."

"Can you stop being so annoying?" I was completely provoked by his behavior, but as soon as the words left my mouth, I saw Alexander burst into laughter.

"You little thing, you've got quite a temper," his eyes observed me with amusement.

"You..." I could never understand Alexander's temperament; he was too unpredictable and incomprehensible.

"Alright, alright, if you don't want to hear it, fine." He reached over to disconnect the Bluetooth, but the phone was still playing.

The sound had diminished somewhat, but the images remained clear. I stole a glance, not even remembering when this had happened.

I dully realized that we had made love so many times in such a short period.

"When did you record this?" My resistance vanished, completely broken by Alexander's persistence.

"Who knows? Where were we just now?" Alexander turned off the video, returning to the previous topic.

"..."

"Ah, yes, we were discussing how Mr. Thomas instructed you to seduce me."

I immediately denied it: "No!"

"No what? No so-called 'Mr. Thomas', or you didn't try to seduce me?"

Alexander's voice was deep and magnetic, as if that playful tone had transformed into a hand, peeling away my secrets layer by layer, like an onion.

I couldn't admit it! I absolutely couldn't surrender! In this world, there was no one left worthy of my trust.

"Mr. Gray, you've really misunderstood. I never thought about seducing you." My attitude softened as I widened my eyes, looking at him with a hint of vulnerability.

He sighed and said, "Is that so? Then I'll just have to let other women take advantage of me."

I felt my face flush with frustration, my breathing becoming rapid. Alexander seemed to notice my discomfort, looking down to examine my face.

"Allergic reaction?"

I didn't answer, my hands gripping the steering wheel tightly, finding it increasingly difficult to breathe.

In fact, I had been feeling unwell since getting in the car, but Alexander had been arguing with me, so I hadn't noticed it.

"If you don't want a female corpse lying beside you, please take me to the hospital now, or call an ambulance..." I squeezed these words out between breaths, almost unable to concentrate any energy.

"Troublesome," I heard Alexander curse as he turned to get out of the car...

When I regained consciousness, I found myself lying in a hospital bed, receiving an IV drip. Cecilia stood nearby, reviewing my medical records.

Seeing me awake, Cecilia touched my forehead.

"You're fine now. Didn't I tell you not to eat mangoes if you're allergic? Why were you so greedy?"

"Someone else made the cake. It was a kindness—refusing would have seemed impolite," I explained weakly.

Cecilia rolled her eyes. "Please, what kindness is worth risking your life for? There's half a bottle left. Once it's finished, you can go home."

"Aren't you busy?" I asked.

"Of course I'm busy. When does a medical student ever have free time? If I hadn't seen that handsome guy bring you in, I wouldn't have come to see you at all," Cecilia replied.

Alexander...

"Where is he?" I looked around but didn't see any sign of Alexander.

"He left," Cecilia sat down, her face full of curiosity. "Who was that? This is the first time I've seen a man with such a strong presence, so handsome... wait... isn't your man supposed to be older?"

Cecilia had met Richard before, so she knew about him.

"Alexander Gray, Richard's nephew," I explained.

"Oh, I've never heard of him."

Although Cecilia didn't say more, anyone with eyes could see there was something unusual between Alexander and me.

"Did he say anything else?" As soon as the words left my mouth, I felt I had asked unnecessarily.

Alexander bringing me to the hospital had already exceeded my expectations of him.

"No, he just dropped you off and left." Cecilia shrugged, taking out a box of medicine from her lab coat.

"I specially asked a friend from Silverpeak City to prepare this medication. It's said to counteract the drug effects in your body, but whether it works or not... I can't guarantee."

I took the box, looking at the dense foreign text on it, completely incomprehensible.

"How do I take it?"

"Take it three days before an episode, but... are you sure you want to take it? What if Richard finds out?"
