Chapter Three
Eva's POV
I stared at my reflection in the mirror, my eyes swollen and red. I barely got a wink of sleep last night thinking of all Dominic had said. The man wouldn't leave my mind and it made me furious.
My phone buzzed next to me and I saw the apartment bill being sent in. It felt like I kept drowning into more and more debts and responsibilities. Dominic was right. There was no way I would pay off his debt while dealing with hospital bills and some other necessities.
If I want on like this without a better paying job, I would not only end up homeless, I'd starve, have a sick man with me and still be in a millionaire dollars debt to some dark and shady loan shark asking me to marry him for the sake of my debt.
It was tiring.
I wasn't done reminiscing when my phone started to ring. I glanced at it, displaying the hospital’s name as the Caller's ID. They'd never call me. Even for payments update.
“Miss Carter, there's been a complication with your father's health.” The doctor said, his expression neutral while carefully trying to pick his next choice of words.
I stiffened. “What do you mean?” I had rushed down here knowing something might be wrong and something was truly wrong.
“Your father's condition has worsened. His body is no longer responding to this current treatment given to him. We have no choice but to switch to a more aggressive approach.”
I felt my blood drain at his words. “And… and how much will that cost?”
The doctor exhaled softly. “His bills has increased by an additional two hundred thousand dollars.”
My vision blurred at the numbers. Was this intentional or what? What am I being punished for? I have been nothing but good since I can remember. What was it with the huge figures lately? They were amounts I have never set eyes on even once.
“Of course,” the doctor continue. “If the payment isn't made soon, we'll have to discontinue the–”
“I'll get the money.” I blurted, my hands trembling as I took my father's in mine. “I'll get it.”
I barely had enough to keep up with the existing medical bills, let alone this sudden increase. I felt like a crushing weight had rested on my shoulders. It was much worse than before, it was suffocating.
And there was only one person and offer I knew that could settle all this with just a snap of fingers.
Dominic.
The thought of his smirk made me sick, but what choice did I have? The only way I can get quick cash is through shady business part time jobs and I didn't know why, but I felt it'd be much safe working for Dominic instead of some random club where Omegas are belittled even more than they already were. It would be much more worse than taking Dominic's offer.
I had to swallow my pride for my father.
If I refused the little ray of hope now, who knows when another chance would come?
The heavy bass music vibrated through my bones as I stepped into the top floor of Golden Fang Club. I had come to deal in this business two times in less than twenty-four hours and it was terrifying.
Although the club was in the position which every eyes could see, there were werewolf fights, illegal drugs and gambling stuff here. And it made me wonder if it was accepted by the law because he was who he was or he just hid it all well.
The club was a predator’s den. And I have never thought for once I would find myself in a place like this for any reason whatsoever.
I felt it the moment I stepped inside– the thick and suffocating scent of alphas and betas fikke the air, swirling with alcohol, cigarette and lust. It was thick in the air even more than the music. I'd expect nothing less but it was terrifying.
Eyes turned towards me immediately. I couldn't ask what it was they were looking at because it was already obvious. I was a prey in the midst of predators.
A shiver ran down my spine as a tall, broad-shouldered beta leaned against the bar, his gaze taking me over like I was some meal. He wasn't even hiding his lust at all. “Look what we have here,” he muttered, smirking.
I swallowed hard, looking around if I could find Dominic. A weird place to look since it was filled with lots of people, but he gave me the card to this floor. There was nothing a high ranked person would stay here for, right?
Before I could take another step, a different alpha had blocked my path, his scent foul and overwhelming. I wasn't used to having to take in scents of strong alphas even though my wolf's sense of feeling was weak, it still made me sick. “What's a sweet little things like you doing in a place like this?”
I took a shaky breath. “I’m sorry, I'm not interested.”
He chuckled darkly. “That's the thing, sweetheart. Doesn't matter if you're interested. I am interested and that's all that matters.”
He reached for me.
I spun away, only to collide with another body– a set of hands grabbing at me, another foul scent closing in, even more foul than the first one. I had no choice but to hug myself but his hands already found its way down my waist.
Panic surged through me. They were too much. And I was urrounded with nowhere to run.
Another hand tangled in my hair, shoving me against another hard chest roughly. I gasped, struggling to breath from all the dominance scent around me. “Let me go–”
A sudden suffocating power filled the room.
I felt like ice was creeping over my body.
Every single alpha and beta surrounding me froze. I turned to see Dominic. He stood at the top of the stairs, watching. The music seemed to go by in slow motion as he majestically descended the stairs, his gaze not leaving mine, his expression completely calm.
He didn't need to yell. Or speak.
His existence alone was enough.
He reached out, brushing his fingers against my cheek. “Tsk, tsk, look what happens when you stay away from me, kitten.”
I was trembling, struggling to breath but his other hand took mine with a soft smile settling on his lips. He turned, heading towards one of the men who had just grabbed me. With his other hand, Dominic grabbed the alpha’s.
The next thing I heard was snapping and cracking. I widened my eyes in shock, my hands moving to my mouth, as I saw the man fall to his knees, his hands bent beyond recognition. “I didn't expect you to come back this early, kitten. I would have warned the predators.”
He didn't let go of my hand as we headed in another direction. “Well, why not just make examples out of them now.”
He was crazy. No he was beyond crazy.
I stared back at every single men who had touched me, their hands badly bent. “Now speak to me, kitten, now that you are very much relaxed.”
I forced myself to meet his gaze, but surprisingly, I wasn't scared of him. I stared into his eyes, standing my ground firmly.
“I-I accep your condition t.” I clenched my fist
s, my nails digging into my palm.
“I will sign the contract and marry you, Dominic Vaughan.”
