Chapter Four

Dominic’s POV

I had anticipated her returning but it wasn't even up to an full day. Something definitely went wrong and she had no choice but to come but I wasn’t complaining. I wanted to have her within my grasp as soon as possible.

I would have never given a damn if I came across someone who was here to plead for a debt, but someone strange pulled me towards her. I understood when our eyes met. Her character, her boldness, made her even more interesting.

Of course I never believed in the mate stuff but…

My thoughts were interrupted by the buzzing of my phone. I stared at the screen to see my father's name displaying there. With a sigh, I answered the call. “Father.”

His voice was as sharp as blade itself but I was used to it. I could tell something happened and he was livid. “To the estate. Now!”

Then the line went dead.

I ran my fingers through my hair, already irritated. He had his eyes everywhere but I wasn't shocked. Of course news traveled faster than speed or light in this city, especially if it entails me. Someone want the fame from publishing about me or the money to take it down.

I poured myself a drink, taking a slow sip as I let the liquor burn down my throat. Eva had been an unexpected addition to my plan, but a fascinating one. She wasn't afraid to stand up for herself, despite her trembling voice, despite the fear that gripped her last night. I stand on the fact that she looked so damn hot when she stutters.

And now, she was mine.

But I had a feeling my father wasn’t about to let this slide so easily.

The moment I stepped into my father's grand study, I was met with the full weight of his rage. The room was filled with his aura but I didn't flinch, equally fighting his with mine as I stood before him, hands in my pockets.

“Have you lost your mind, Dominic?” he thundered, rising from behind his massive oak desk.

“Why do you think that, old man?” I asked. “But it's debatable. Have I?”

His eyes– my eyes– flashed dangerously. The way I looked exactly like this man made me feel chills at times. Not chills of fear or excitement, it was that of irritation. “You know exactly what I'm talking about.” he slammed some papers on the desk, all showing me being affectionate to Evangeline. Where was the image of breaking arms to show I wasn't joking about my woman one bit.

FIRST WOMAN TO GET ALPHA DOMINIC'S ATTENTION. COULD SHE BE HER?

SUPREME ALPHA SUCCESSOR TO WED AN UNKNOWN OMEGA– WHO IS SHE?

I chuckled, sinking into one of the leather chairs. “They make it sound less romantic than it is. I wonder how she'll react to her face all over the news.”

But looking at her pictures, nit did no justice to how innocent and beautiful she looked.

“Enough!” My father's expression immediately darkened. “An omega, Dominic, are you out of your mind? Do you not care about your reputation or you are so hellbent on making me mad?” The old man thundered again but I just stood there unbothered, lighting myself a cigarette.

On a normal day, I would have denied it but what's the fun in that when everything he had taught me is being went against.

I offered him a cigarette but I drew back when I saw the deadly look in his eyes. Oh well, he was serious then.

“So what do you want me to do father?” I asked letting out a smoke as I raised my brow.

“End it. Now.” His nostrils flared. I knew he would come up with some bazaar request. Wasn't it alpha Hector?

I arched a brow. “Why?”

“Do you think you can just drag some nobody omega into our bloodline?” He sneered. “Our name isn't that to be tainted by the weak and insignificant.”

“What? But this city only grows due to the hard work omegas are put through.” I mumbled loud enough for him to hear. “I can't just get rid of her when she earned her spot on the news pages. Well, she won't be insignificant as soon as I officially marry her.”

My father slammed his fists on the desk again and I could see the crack from where I sat. “You would listen to me and end this farce. And you will do it NOW. Address the media and tell them it was all a misunderstanding.”

I leaned forward, my voice cold. “Or what?”

He narrowed his eyes. “Or I will do it for you, Dominic. Trust me.”

The silence stretched between us but the sparks didn't due down. No matter how hard I tried battling with him in the past, I never won with his demands. But that's not going to happen this time.

“So you suggest I leave my mate when you're the one pushing me to look for her in the first place.” I asked, leaning back in my seat to comfortable pour myself a drink. “Some pack leader you are. Besides, ia already told everyone she's my woman in the club, so…”

I could see the horror on his face when I said she was my mate. Of course, there was no way I would speak to a woman and even offer her a shield if I wasn't interested in her and if she wasn't mine to claim in the first place. I have to thank her for being the reason I get to see all these looks displayed on the face of the oh so great supreme alpha of Fang pack.

I didn't really believe in all that mate nonsense. They were just fake. But the way she stood up to me and made me feel all sort of amused and interested emotions I've never felt before, I decided to try it out, if it means keeping this kitten. I wonder if I'll get to know how it feels like to have a mate.

But wait. Does she know I was her mate? Her wolf should have reacted to it if she was aware of it. She should have reacted to it also.

“What do you mean by mate? The moon goddess would never mock the supreme alpha line by giving a lowly omega.” he looked petrified, shaking his head. “That's impossible, Dominic. This is stupidity. You've always been reckless.”

“Wanna ask my wolf yourself?” I asked, not paying him extra attention but I could tell he wasn't taking this well at all.

I said nothing more and just watched him.

Then his lips suddenly curved up into something that made my grip tighten. “There's no law that states the supreme alpha must always be with their mate? As long as no one knows you two are mates, you can easily get engaged to another, getting rid of that rumor of folly.”

My jaw clenched, not ready to hear whatever it was he had coming.

“I have taken the liberty to arrange your real engagement.” His smirk deepened. “You will marry Victoria Mayhem, daughter of Lord Fredr

ick Mayhem.”

The glass in my hand cracked.

An engagement? To a nobody alpha?
