CHAPTER 28

Knox's POV

From the moment I opened my mouth to say that, I knew I shouldn't have made that kind of suggestion. But I only did it because I was desperate and didn't know how to stop her from leaving.

We would never be able to get her again if she leaves here. It would be hard for us to get her back and other men might take her away from us.

Even though we don't deserve it, but we are still selfish this way.

My brothers and I were not supposed to be surprised but we were clearly surprised when she admitted the past life.

Even though we pretended not to know what she was talking about, it was clear now that she really was reborn like us and it explains a lot on why she wants to leave us all of a sudden.

If she wasn't reborn, she would have been happy that we were showing her all the love and attention. We deserve whatever she's doing to us right now since we caused her death before. However, we definitely can't let her go.

We obviously can't imagine how much pain she must have been in all those years. We can't replicate how much humiliation she endured, all while trying to make sure that nothing bad happened to us.

We were really ungrateful and we deserved the end we got in our past life. Which is why we definitely can't let her go in this one.

Looking at how interested she is now in what I said, I can definitely tell she wants to become a millionaire. Of course, that's also probably so she can have enough money to leave us or sue us, if that's possible.

There isn't a lot I can do about this situation, but I have to do whatever I can to make sure she doesn't leave, which is why I'm going to make a ridiculous offer.

"What is the damn offer about?" She asked suspiciously.

I sighed, "why don't you just calm down a little and try to listen to me. It's not as if I'm going to bite you or anything."

She rolled her eyes, "that is rich coming from you people. What do you want from me? Haven't you done enough? Would you really not stop until I'm dead?"

Adonis quickly moved closer to her to explain, "Of course not Autumn. Why would we want to kill you?"

She laughed, making us stand there and watch her like fools.

"What? You mean you really don't want me dead? If I haven't gone through will not before, I would have believed this nonsense. I think dying once opened my eyes a lot. The idiot that would do anything to be with you is dead, I'm different from her." She was dead serious while saying this to us.

We can't act hurt by what she said because we don't deserve it. So now the main issue is keeping her with us. It doesn't matter what she's saying to us now. I have to do whatever I can to make sure she stays.

"Be our mate." I blurted out.

Everyone, including my brothers, turned to look at me like I had completely lost my mind. But I knew what I was saying. I looked at her with a smile on my face. She then started laughing hysterically until she stopped.

"Are you serious about this right now? You want me to be your mate? You just crazy bastard. I told you not to waste my time. This was the offer you had? Can you come up with something creative at least?" She fired at me.

She wanted to leave and I stopped right in front of her again.

"Barbie, wait. That's not what I mean. I know you're not our mate, and we haven't gotten our mate, so it's a perfect opportunity for us." I started, hoping she would keep listening to my genius idea.

When I saw that she was attentive, I decided to continue.

"Are you really going to leave this house as broke as you are with nothing? How long do you think you're going to be able to survive outside realistically?" I questioned her.

"Like I said, how I decide to live my life is none of your business. It doesn't matter to you anyway. Why do you keep acting like you care?"

I shook my head, "I promise you, once you've made enough money, we will give you the opportunity to leave and do whatever you want with yourself. We will not stop you anymore. It's just for you to act as a fake mate and earn money with ease."

I suddenly realized that I was the only one explaining things to her, and my brothers were just staring at me. So I looked at them and gave them a signal to help me out.

Are they really going to watch me try to brainstorm all the ideas while they just benefit from it?

"Umm... Barbie, he's right. You already know the situation with us and how we have a lot of things to do, but we don't have a mate. If we don't present a mate soon, we might become ridiculous to the entire world. So we need something to cut off the rumors and also help you out. What do you think?" Dante said.

She seemed to be thinking about it for a moment. Maybe this was a good sign for us or not? I couldn't show it but I was nervous. We couldn't keep her with us much longer if we didn't try this.

"You're paying me to be your fake mate? And you're going to let me go later? How long will this shit go on?" She demanded.

I sighed, "A year. That's all we need to resolve this."

Her face immediately changed. "No! I'm not spending another year with you! I hate you all! I'd rather starve to death like I've always been doing!"

We realized she was mad at us again and we needed to do something to calm her down.

"Ten million per person for a year!" I shouted.

Obviously, that wasn't a lot of money compared to what we have. But, looking at the situation and the fact that she hasn't even had that kind of money before, even after we promised to save up for her when she grew up, and we ended up making her suffer. Now, she deserved the money. And we will end up giving her all of our assets at the end.

She wasn't saying anything for a while, and I guess she wasn't going to agree no matter what we tried. That means we don't even have anything to stop her anymore, and we have to accept our fate.

"Since you don't want to—"

"I agree! Bosses, when are we going to sign the documents? Of course, there has to be rules and everything else. And also, you have to pay me upfront, or there will be limits to what you can do and what you cannot do. As long as we can follow these rules, one year is nothing." She cut me off.

I was surprised to listen to the fact that she agreed and also wanted to sign an agreement for it.

"You really agree?"

She nodded, "Of course! I know I hate you all but money is important to me too. 30 million in a year is more than enough for me to be set for a lifetime. I'm going to take it and endure you all for a year."

We couldn't show our excitement but we were happy that she finally decided to stay. She's our real mate and I am very sure she knows that more than anyone. She won't be able to leave easily once we confirm that.

"We need to draft an agreement with a lot of rules. If you break the rules and go pass your boundary, then you have to pay me the penalties and also break the contract."

We listened to her making the rules. This is kind of funny because she knows we don't really follow rules. But we have to make one just to give her an assurance of this contract. However she can't leave us because she belongs to us, and no one can take her away from us.

Even if we have to use our entire lifeline, we will get her forgiveness and make her love us again.
