CHAPTER 4 Accident

Nina POV

"Since I will no longer be part of this pack, I can't possibly leave my pack members behind. So I think I need time to process all these before moving into your pack." I said all in one go, hoping that the devil could at least reconsider leaving without me today concerning my pack members.

I won't sleep here either. I know if he leaves, I will just lodge in a hotel.

I can feel the bile rising in my throat as I wait for him to say a thing. "Yeah, that's true, I will make arrangements for that," he finally said before heading toward the door with my hand in his.

I groaned at my failed hope.

Though I didn't miss the look of loathing that suddenly appeared on Jasper's face at my request. Wait! Was he expecting me to throw away my birthright, my pack, just like that? The dragging of my hand pulled me back to the present. Holding me as if I'd escape. Trust me, if it was in my capacity, I would definitely run away.

I can hear murmurs and whispers among the crowd as we made our way outside.

They were invited to a wedding, only to come and see the Alpha's mistress as the bride and his rejected Luna claimed by the notorious Prince of the Lycans. A lot happened in a day; I can feel their curious eyes as we make our way toward the carport.

My heart was beating fast, and I felt uncomfortable with the weird stares we were getting, but then the two Lycans beside me felt so unbothered.

"Vincent will be here soon," the redhead guy said to Prince Ryder. Our gazes locked, and he offered me a small smile, but I immediately looked away.

I was still startled by the whole thing when suddenly a black sleek Lamborghini pulled up in front of us. The redhead guy took the passenger seat, and Prince Ryder motioned for me to enter the back seat. I hesitated for a while, but seeing his murderous expression, I had to comply and enter.

He entered and sat beside me. Immediately, our bodies touched, I jumped up at the sudden sparks. I shifted to the other side, he gave me a side look, and before I knew it, he pulled me into his lap. I gasped, but he ignored me and closed the side door.

I struggled to get the heck off his lap, but his grip around my waist was so tight, pulling me closer. He buried his head at the nook of my neck, and I trembled, my heart racing faster.

His muscular scent- lavender and sandalwood mingled with the dry, crumbly essence of earthly dust- wafted into my nose, and I dragged in a sharp breath.

His scent was strong, making it hard to concentrate. He inhaled my scent, his breathing tickling my neck. I trembled, and he gave my hand a gentle squeeze.

I instantly shut my eyes, hating how my body reacted under his touch. This is wrong.

I tried to call Leah again, but was only met with a silent response. I think there's a mistake somewhere. It's never been heard of- a Lycan and a werewolf mate. Lycans only get mated within themselves, whether chosen or fated, but never with other species.

They see us as weak, and their ego won't even allow them to associate with us. That's why the king, queen, and almost all the elders of the council are strictly Lycans. Or is the moon goddess playing tricks on me? This is wrong.

"What's your name?" His deep voice interrupted my thoughts. I ignored him and tried to wriggle out of his lap again, but his grip tightened. He lifted his head, and I was met with sharp red-shot eyes.

There was warning in them; I dragged in a shaking breath and stopped wriggling.

"I... I am Nina," I stammered, and he smirked, lifting his hand to remove a strand of hair from my face.

Remember I said I wasn't scared? Well, now I seem more than terrified.

"Nina," he repeated, as if wanting the name to sink into his head. I gulped hard, watching his eyes switch back to those piercing ocean-blue hues.

"Not bad," he smiled again and buried his head back on my neck. I opened my mouth to tell him we're not mates when I felt a sharp pain as our car crossed out of the pack border. A cry slipped out of my lips, and I quickly squeezed my chest hard.

"Ahh," I groaned, and Prince Ryder quickly lifted his head and drew me closer.

"What's going on?" He asked, concern etched on his forehead. "Did you hurt yourself?"

"Ryder," the redhead guy from the front asked, and the car immediately came to a stop. Both the driver and the redhead turned to look at me. Prince Ryder seemed agitated.

"My... My people," I stammered, and he sighed, understanding my sudden outburst. He turned me to rest my head on his shoulder so I could inhale his scent to calm my nerves a little.

"My people," I sniffed, and he patted my back.

"I promise you'll get it back. I'll help you get the letter of approval from the council faster." He kept murmuring reassuringly, but my tears kept rolling down.

He nodded to the driver, who turned and started the car again.

"Is okay. You'll get it back," he said, and somehow his scent was strangely calming me down.

"WATCH OUT!!" The driver, which I assumed to be Vincent, and the redhead guy suddenly screamed, but before we could turn around, it was already late. A loud crash echoed through the air, followed instantly by twisting metal and shattering glass.

I screamed hard, and Prince Ryder immediately flipped me around, shielding me with his body. Our car swerved violently, and I felt weightless for a moment as we somersaulted through the air. Time slowed as the world around us blurred. The sound of shattering glass and crunching steel filled my ears. I panicked, holding him tight.

We rolled all over, slamming our heads against the car seats and roof. Panic flashed in his eyes, and he quickly tried to pull me to hide my face in his chest, but it was too late. My head hit hard against the side of the window, and I went unconscious.

"No!!" That was the last word that registered in my head before I let darkness take over.
