CHAPTER 2 Birthday

Madison POV

It was three days after that horrendous encounter with Alpha Bronson and my neck still hurts from his grip on them.

Today was my birthday and it happened to also be the day every pack was meant to celebrate the Moon Goddess.

Maybe this should be the only day in my lifetime that I could ever be positive. While I stood on the balcony, watching every pack member leave for the event hall, I closed my eyes to imagine what it would feel like under the arms of my mate.

It was enticing and I surely was anticipating it.

"Madison!" My train of thought was broken by the voice of Seth, who had stepped into the balcony. "I see you are out here trying to be lazy? Let me quickly remind you once again that if I see you close or even a mile at the event, I will have the soldiers beat you hard, and trust me you won't like what I will do to you in my bedroom after that." He said, licking his lips.

I almost tried not to cringe at his facial reaction. He was disgusting and a sick man.

As he left the balcony, I returned back to watching everyone leave for the event. I had woken up very early to prepare breakfast for the Alpha and all his subjects. I knew they would try to keep me away from the event and it was painful to know that they actually were doing that.

"Oh...Madison!" I smiled as that familiar voice rang through my ear. The voice belonged to none other than Aurelia, my beloved friend.

"How do I look?" She asked turning around, while showing off the beautiful silk dress that she had designed.

"Wow, you really look amazing." I appreciated how it hung very well around her curves. Aurelia was the only person in the pack who understood my plight more than anybody else.

"Are you not coming for the great event?" She asked, noting my casual dress.

"Beta Seth asked me to stay back."

Aurelia rolled her eyes, as I mentioned her father's name.

Yes, she was the beautiful daughter of Seth and I couldn't even confide in her, the perverted nature of her father, because I knew it would become her.

"So what are you going to do now?" Aurelia asked, curiosity on her face.

"I have no other options than to wait behind like he has instructed." I responded, with a sigh of defeat.

"No, I refuse to believe that Madison. How much more are you going to live in fear? Beta Seth should not stop you from seeing your mate. I want you to remember that."

She had a point, I want to be with my mate, who I believe will bring the necessary protection that I need.

"You know what? Come with me." She said grabbing my hands, just when I tried to protest. We walked away from the balcony and headed back to her room.

"Here..." She said throwing one of her expensive clothes at me. "Get change, we are going for the event."

"Aurelia, you know your father. If I go out there and he catches me, I am done!" I tried to plead for her to understand.

"My father be damned! He is already a loser by being a pervert." I stared at her in disbelief.

How did she know?

"The rumors have been flying around Madison, it is not a new theme for me anymore." She noted, seeing the shock on my face. "So are you going or not?"

I stared at the dress and then back at Aurelia.

This was a one time opportunity for me to meet my mate. I will not let a perverted man's decision stop me.

"I will go with you." I affirmed convincingly and Aurelia clapped her hands in joy, while I went to the wardrobes to change.

"How do I look?" I asked, once I was done with the dress.

The gasp from Aurelia and the shock written all over her eyes, made me nervous. "The dress doesn't look good?" I asked looking back at the material.

"Are you joking? This dress looks amazing on you. I am just surprised you never dressed this well. I believe it could make most of the pack members stop their abuse of you."

I turned to look at the mirror and for some reason, I understood what she was talking about. I looked like an absolute queen and I could almost compete with her in that area.

"Come on now, we will be late." She said.

We moved out of the room and were all set for the celebration ground, where every other pack member had gathered.

We found a perfect spot to stay, and I felt a little bit comfortable knowing we wouldn't be found.

I watched on as the Alpha was called to the podium for the commencement of the ceremony. Suddenly a beautiful scent of summer berries filled my nose and for the first time in a while, my wolf was overjoyed.

"Madison let's get out of here." Aurelia stated, and when I paid close attention to what she was warning about, I noticed Alpha Bronson heading towards our direction.

Did he figure us out? I asked as I followed Aurelia through the crowd.

As we finally broke away from the crowd, I was about sprinting back to the mansion, when a loud growl stopped Aurelia and me.

We turned around to see a group of soldiers behind us and another set of soldiers in our front.

We were trapped easily.

The scent I had perceived earlier became stronger. I turned around to see the Alpha right before me, gazing at me with a mixture of curiosity and anger.

"What is this? Mate?" He asked with so much disgust, while still staring at me.

"Alpha what seems to be the matter..." Seth rushed forward and the moment he laid eyes on me, they became darkened with rage.

"I can't believe the Moon Goddess would decide to make a mockery of my position as Alpha and hand this little thing to me as a mate."

The moment he mentioned that one word, it became clear why I had been perceiving that smell and also why my wolf had been howling in joy.

Alpha Bronson is my mate.
