Chapter 6: I Couldn't Stop Thinking About Him
Sophie.
“I didn't want to come along with you, mother.” I pleaded.
“Your father prefers you to be there, sweetheart, you understand?” I nodded my head and ran my hand over the clothes I would be wearing for dinner with the Velkov.
Ever since my father has invested in them, he had been actively involved with them and when I met them at my birthday party a few weeks ago, I really thought it would be the last I would ever seen them but that was not the case. My mother brought a casual dress for me to wear for the dinner, it was black dress that ended just about my knees. It wasn't really too much but I knew that the dress was very expensive as the designer label appeared when I moved the it. I sighed nonchalantly as I get dressed, we were supposed to leave for the dinner in an hour. They invited us for dinner, it was more of a get to know each other sort of thing, so I just agreed to join them.
After an hour, we finally left our estate. Since this was a family invite, father insisted that either both me and Sandra attend with him or at least one of us. Sandra immediately backed out as she claimed she was not in the mood to really put up a facade for father. So now, I have the responsibility. We reached their estate and immediately, we were greeted with butlers and housemaids. Mr. and Mrs. Velkov were here too as they welcomed us and I took the time to look at their beautiful home. It was like ours but huge, and it was obvious that these people were filthy rich.
“Welcome to our home, it is a pleasure to have you here.”
Our mansion was huge enough for us and it really made me wonder how much space a family really needs. My father claims that he has a huge estate back in our Greece and that he grew up there with his parents. I have never seen it in my entire life, which is why he promised us that he would take us there one day.
“It is a pleasure to be here, Benjamin. Come on, let's get in.” My father chuckled as well as Mr. Velkov.
His wife and my mother chatted amongst themselves as they encouraged me to follow them. Mr. Velkov was the sweetest woman I have ever met, she resembled my mother which was something that encouraged me to like her even more. I smiled at her as she conversed with me while she guided us to the dining table. The table was filled with food. Even though it was quite entertaining scrutinizing this mansion and appreciating the beauty of it, I was so extremely bored. I sat on the chair that was offered to me and scrolled through my phone while my mother sat beside me and father next to her.
“Put your phone away, Sophie.” My father grunted under his tone. I glanced up at him and saw the slight anger in his face. I nodded my head after sending his agitation, I pushed the phone in the pocket of my dress before I sighed against the chair. I was so bored.
After a while of waiting, we were finally eating, my father was talking to Gabriel, they were laughing and drinking. Mrs. Velkov engaged my mother in a conversation as well while they ate. I was playing with the food as my appetite had suddenly disappeared, I wanted to go home already. I felt a sudden spark spike through my stomach when a familiar cologne ran past my nose, I inhaled it greedily into my lungs and felt a swarm of butterflies fill my stomach. I glance to my right, over my shoulder and see him rushing down the staircase as it seems as though he was in a hurry to be somewhere.
“Son, please come and join us.” Gabriel said and I looked down at my food.
I glanced over my shoulder again for a second and noticed how a scowl had appeared on his face. I looked away and practically hid behind my mother when he approached the table but when he came closer, I really did not think that me hiding behind my mother was very effective.
“I am fine, father. I really have some…” I felt a power gaze strain on me the second he entered the dining room and when I glanced over my shoulder once, I caught him staring at me in surprise.
“Actually, I can spare an hour or two, father.” He said and my heart palpitated when he entered my field of vision but I didn't really look at him or even greet him.
While I continued to fork my food on my plate, I could see him from the corner of my eyes as he made his way around the table and sat next to his father, right opposite me. I have never felt like this in my entire life before. Although I was seated on these expensive chairs, I could feel my knees become very weak and I felt so hot, already sweating as my hair was spread across my shoulders. I bite my lips and look down at my food while I could feel his gaze on me. He was so obvious. He was wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. The shirt was tucked in his jeans while his sleeves were rolled up and stopped just below his elbow. His hair was messy, uncombed but definitely washed because I could smell it from a mile away, his lips were pink, so pink that it felt like a pull drawing mine to smash as it. He was so gorgeous and so damn hot.
The first time I met him, I had no idea who he was. After he visited my estate, I really couldn't stop thinking about him. He was so gorgeous, I have never seen anyone like him before. In fact, I have never felt like this before about someone and it was so unusual. Dinner ended half an hour later and surprisingly enough, Romano was still here. They were talking about business while I was just browsing through my phone as I took a seat on the couch. My mother and Mrs. Velkov were there with me as they continued with their conversation. I smiled down at my phone as I read a text from Sandra and my best friend before I was interrupted.
“Son, why don't you show Sophie around the house and the garden?”
My heart hammered in my chest as I was so quick to avert my gaze to Mrs. Velkov. She called out her son and immediately he stood up from his seat. I looked over the direction he was and found him approaching us and suddenly my stomach sparked with so much anxiety. This means, I had to be alone with the one person I couldn't compose myself around. I felt my heart wobble in my chest when realization rested upon me that he agreed. I thought he had somewhere to go.
“Sure, mother.” He said before reaching me and I slowly glanced up at him as I was sitting on the couch while he stood next to me and smirked down at me.
“After you,” he said as he moved out of the way and waited for me to lead the way.
I faltered for a second as my mind was all over the place before I clutched my phone in my hand and stood up. I stood right in front of him without realizing how tall this gorgeous man was and I blinked a few times and bit my lips before I began to walk towards the direction he pointed at. He followed behind me. At some point, he was walking ahead of me and I couldn't help but gaze at him. He was incredibly beautiful through every angel, as he walked, he had his hands buried deep into his pocket. I watched him as we walked in silence until we reached what seemed like a garden, which was beyond beautiful.
“This is our backyard, my father constructed it a few years ago so we can trai….” He trailed off and I glanced over at him.
“So we can hang out as a family.” He completed his sentence.
“It really is beautiful.” I said as I took in every tiny detail that this backyard had. Everything about it screamed elegant and rich even the floor had its very own touch to it.
Silence fell on us as the night settled above us, the air was warm and atmospheric. I glimpse at the sky and was able to see from the corner of my eyes that he was gaping at me. He didn't even try to hide it.
“You didn't need to do this, I thought you had somewhere to be?” I whispered, breaking the silence.
