Chapter 5
The huge terrifying creature turned out to be a massive red dragon, Vulcan. He flew overhead, blocking out the sun and sky as he landed with a loud thud before them, Nova’s eyes widened in surprise. She left her horse and approached Vulcan cautiously, calling out his name in a soothing voice. Vulcan’s scales glistened in the fading light, and his piercing gaze locked onto Nova’s. He nuzzled her face gently, his temperamental nature momentarily forgotten in his desire to be with her.
Nova wrapped her arms around Vulcan’s scaly neck, holding him close as she tried to calm him down. “It’s okay, Vulcan. I’m here,” she whispered, her voice filled with emotion. Vulcan’s mental connection with Nova had alerted him to her departure, and he was desperate to accompany her on her journey.
As Nova stroked Vulcan’s scales, she felt a deep sense of connection and responsibility towards him. She knew she couldn’t take him with her, no matter how much she wanted to. “I have to go, Vulcan,” she said, her voice trembling. “But I’ll be back. You have to stay here and protect our kingdom.”
Vulcan’s eyes seemed to understand Nova’s words, but his expression remained pleading. Nova’s heart ached as she gently pulled away from him. “I’ll always come back to you, Vulcan. I promise,” she reassured him, trying to hold back tears.
Isabella watched the scene unfold, her expression sympathetic. She knew the bond between Nova and Vulcan was strong, and it would be difficult for Nova to leave him behind. “Your parents and royal dragon tamers will make sure Vulcan is well taken care of,Princess Nova,” Isabella said softly. “But we must leave now. The journey ahead won’t wait.”
With one last glance at Vulcan, she turned around and walked towards Isabella, mher determination to face her destiny strengthened by the knowledge that she had loved ones like Vulcan waiting for her return along with the people in the Kingdom.
Vulcan took off immediately and Nova let out a brief smile, at least her dragon rushed to see her and her brothers will probably be jubilating and not missing her at all.
“Princess Nova, this is when you get on your horse so we can leave.”
Nova nodded and mounted her horse with so much happiness and hope of discovering her entire potential and it was flowing like a new found energy through her veins.
As they rode, “So tell me Aunty Isabella, where are we heading first?”
Isabella filled Nova in on their first destination. “We’re heading to the Werewolf Kingdom in the Eastern Region, Princess Nova. We need to find James William, a great warrior from the Blue Moon Wolf Pack.”
Princess Nova’s curiosity got the best of her . “A werewolf? I’ve heard stories about them, but I’ve never seen one before.”
Isabella nodded. “Yes, James William is one of the candidates for the reincarnated Child of Light. The Werewolf Kingdom is home to many skilled warriors, and James is one of the best.”
Princess Nova’s imagination ran wild as she thought about meeting a werewolf. She had learned about the different supernatural creatures that inhabited the Otherworld continent, but she had never encountered one personally. She appreciates the prophecy for including her in this journey, now she will be able to witness a lot of beings from the Otherworld. She wondered if the werewolf would have human legs or a human face with claws. Will it be different from the drawing she has seen by some scholars who claim to have visited the Werewolf Kingdom,
“What can I expect from James William?” Princess Nova asked, her eyes fixed on Isabella expecting more description about how he looks.
Isabella’s expression turned thoughtful. “James is a skilled fighter and a natural leader. He’s fiercely loyal to his pack and will stop at nothing to protect them. But we’ll need to approach him carefully – werewolves can be unpredictable, especially during the full moon.”
Princess Nova nodded, she felt a bit disappointed because Isabella didn’t focus on his features, will they be looking handsome or scary...
Out of curiosity Nova asked more questions about James. "Do you think James William looks extremely fierce and cruel?" she asked Isabella.
Isabella chuckled. "Not necessarily, Nova. Werewolves are often misunderstood. They're not as savage as people think."
Princess Nova's brow furrowed. "But do they eat live animals and humans? I heard they are scary and not welcoming either."
Isabella's expression turned warm and amused. "Oh, Nova, you're so innocent." She smiled and began to explain. "In the Otherworld, the Werewolf Kingdom has developed its own civilization. They normally live and work in human form, with cities, villages, and eat the same food as humans, though they prefer meat."
Princess Nova listened intently, her eyes wide with wonder. "So, they're not that different from us?"
Isabella nodded. "Not really. Their kingdom isn't much different from the Human kingdom. The only difference is that werewolves can transform and possess strength, smell, and speed that humans can't match."
Princess Nova's understanding grew, and she felt a sense of excitement about meeting James William. She realized that werewolves weren't monsters, but rather a unique and fascinating species.
Isabella Jones tells her more stories about the werewolves.
The Human Kingdom, The Werewolf Kingdom, The Vampire Kingdom, Elven Kingdom and The Wizard Kingdom make up the Otherworld and each race is known for their uniqueness and they have always lived in peace. But as time passed by, the peace began to fade off. This was as a result of the ten-thousand-year reset of the Otherworld that was fast approaching as a wide fire. It gave birth to a lot of conflicts and disputes among the races.
Isabella changes the topic to talk about Princess Nova, seeing how the kingdom respects her,she smiled and was also shocked that Isabella knows so much about her including things she also doesn't have an idea of.
When it comes to Nova, she is well respected by the Human Kingdom, her beauty was a lovely sight to behold and everyone sang her praise. No one needs a prophecy to tell them she is going to be the next queen of the Human Kingdom. The love they had for her was massive and some of the people have started addressing her as the Queen. This made her a little bit shy but she let them know she is not the queen, she hasn’t inherited the throne so calling her Princess Nova seems better for her and they all agreed to address her that way.
After a long ride, they had to camp for the night. They kept their horses safe as they wished each other goodnight. The night had been peaceful, with Princess Nova and Isabella sleeping beside a lit campfire. But in the middle of the night, the sound of hooves and horse neighs shattered the silence. Princess Nova and Isabella were suddenly awakened.
As they peeked over the hill, they saw hundreds of armored men on horseback advancing toward the Human Kingdom in the darkness. Princess Nova’s eyes widened in shock, and she couldn’t identify who these people were.
“Who are those people? Are they going to war?” Princess Nova inquired from Isabella because she knows she will get her answers.
Isabella’s expression turned grim. “That’s the Werewolf Kingdom’s army,” she said in a low voice. “In recent years, werewolf troops had frequently harassed human borders to seize resources, and it seemed the Human Kingdom was in trouble. I guess I forgot to involve this very part when I was telling you stories about the werewolves.”
Princess Nova’s panic grew as she realized the Human Kingdom was in danger. She felt a hint of fear wash over her, and her mind went blank. “No, no, no… this can’t be happening,” she whispered, her voice trembling.Princess Nova’s panic consumed her, and she stared at the Werewolf Kingd
om’s army in horror, frozen in fear.
