Chapter 5

Kid

I couldn’t believe Lucifer came looking for me, the big question in my head was WHY?  Why would he come looking for me there must be a reason.”  I think that is the reason I said I would meet him tomorrow after work, curiosity.  Like curiosity didn’t get me in trouble already with this man.  And besides if he was really a Vampire he wouldn’t sit and watch the sun rise, would he? I was just getting ready to leave when David called me to his office, which was strange, stranger that he was still at work.  “David?”  I asked as I walked into his office. “Oh, Kid sit down.”  “Did I do something wrong?”  “No not at all, I’m not even sure I should be asking you what I’m about to, but let’s say my curiosity is getting the better of me.”  “That’s going around.”  I mumbled “What’s that?”  “No nothing, what do you want to ask me?”  “How do you know Lucifer?  If you want to tell me it’s none of my business, I’ll understand.”  “No, it’s okay, I don’t really know him.”  I could see the confusion on Davids face.  “I saw him last night on my way home.”  I had to think fast.  “He …. he was concerned with me walking home alone so he walked with me.  I didn’t tell him where I worked so he came looking for me.”  “Oh.”  I could see David didn’t really believe my shit story. To tell you the truth I wouldn’t have believed me either.  “Why do you ask?”  “Well, I basically just want to tell you to be careful.”  “Why?  Is there something I should know?”  “No no nothing serious, his just got specific taste.”  “Oh.”  What did I do with that sentence.  I thought to myself.  “I’ll be careful thank you David.”  I turn around to walk out when he said “Are you seeing him again?”  “Mmm yes tomorrow after work.”  He didn’t say anything else.  “Have a good day Kid.” “Thank you, you to David.”

I walked home a bit perplex with the conversation with my boss, I mean he hasn’t seen Lucifer for a while now, how can he tell me to be careful.  Then I realized I was defending someone in my head I didn’t even know, which was weird for me, I don’t trust easily.  As I walked home, I heard footsteps behind me, it’s always been a fear of mine being robbed this time of night or even raped.  I looked behind me but couldn’t see anyone.  I started to walked a bit faster, then I heard it again, footsteps harder and faster behind me.  I was starting to panic so I ran, when I looked behind me there was no one in sight.  Was I going totally mad?  What was going on I’m very sure I heard footsteps behind me and it was more than one person.  I decided not to dwell on it and run into my apartment building straight to my apartment, as soon as I was inside, I locked the door and ran to the window with the hope to actually see someone, it will mean I wasn’t going crazy after all, but I didn’t see anything, I stood there for a while before I decided to go and take a warm shower to get rid of this feeling I had.

Lucifer

On my way home I decided to wait and make sure Kid got home safely, something inside me just told me to wait for her, I’m not sure what.  I’ve never had these feelings before and if I did, I didn’t act on them, I mean I’ve never felt anything for anyone so why would I want to make sure they get home safely but yet again, Kid was different.  It was actually scaring me and nothing scares me.  When Kid walked out of the bar, I stayed a few feet behind her, I didn’t want her to see me, she might just think I was stalking her and then she won’t meet with me tomorrow night.  At my alley two guys walked out as soon as she walked past it was like they were waiting for her.  “Oh no you don’t.”  I said to myself.  Kid must have heard them because she started to walk faster, I was very impress that she was aware of her surroundings and wasn’t like other younger people that put earphones in their ears and have no idea what was going on around them.  The faster she moved the faster they started to move.  They were closing in on her I could feel the fear jumping of Kid.  I walked faster and without them even noticing me I pulled both of them into another street. I pushed my hands over the mouths letting Kid get a bit further before I let go of them.  “What the fuck dude?”  One of them said.  “What was your plan? To rob her or to rape her?”  Both of them got quiet.  Which means “Oh you wanted to rape her?”  “That’s none of your business.”  The other one said.  “Well, you see it is my business because that girl is mine.”  As soon as they looked into my eyes, I let my vangs come out.  “NO fucking way.”  The one said trying to get away from me.  “Oh yes.”  Then I sink my teeth into his neck.  The other one was trying to get away but I was strong and had him by the arm.  As soon as I was done with the one, I let him fell to the ground.  “I’m letting you go but if I ever see you near her again or anyone for that matter you will die like your friend here do you understand me?”  “Yes Yes.”  As soon as I let go of his arm, he was gone in seconds it was like he got the speed of Usain Bolt.  I slowly walked towards Kid’s apartment and stood behind a tree; I could see her looking out her window looking for the footsteps she heard behind her.
