Chapter 4: Forcing Her to Sleep in a Dog's Bed
The noise made the purebred Labrador lying in its nest immediately leap out.
============================================================================
It rushed to Ellie’s side, looking at her with concern. It circled around her restlessly, then turned its head and barked loudly at Galvin.
Galvin stared at the dog in disbelief. It had never been friendly to anyone and only allowed him to approach. Even when Glenda visited, it was so aggressive it was unbearable. But now, it was barking in his face because of Ellie. Unbelievable.
Galvin frowned, feeling slightly unsettled by his dog’s behavior, but he didn’t dwell on it. Instead, he sneered at Ellie, saying, "It looks like Hamburg really likes you. Wouldn’t it be best if you two slept together? I guess animals like animals, and people like people."
With that, Galvin shot her a contemptuous glance before turning and walking away. In his heart, someone as cruel as Ellie deserved whatever terrible things he did to her.
In the empty room, only Ellie and the Labrador, Hamburg, remained.
"Hamburg," Ellie called the dog softly, then hugged it tightly in her arms. Sensing her sorrow, Hamburg gently licked away the tears at the corners of her eyes, occasionally whimpering as if trying to comfort her.
"Hamburg, Galvin doesn’t remember me anymore. He doesn’t even remember that he and I bought you together. I’ve told him about us so many times, but he refuses to believe me."
Ellie buried her face in the dog’s fur, her heart aching and suffocated by sadness. "What should I do now?"
—
The next morning, Galvin took Ellie to his grandparents' house. If it hadn’t been for his grandfather’s firm order, he wouldn’t have brought her along.
This feeling made him uncomfortable—it was as if he were introducing his newlywed wife to his family, and for some reason, that made him unhappy. If he had a choice, he would have much rather had Glenda by his side, not Ellie—the person he despised the most.
Galvin’s grandfather treated Ellie well. Since he and Ellie’s grandfather had been close friends, even after Ellie’s family had fallen into ruin, he remained true to his old promise.
Despite his grandson’s strong objections, he had stubbornly forced Galvin to marry Ellie.
With his grandfather present, no one in the family dared to openly express their dislike for Ellie. Even after the chaos of the wedding day, no one dared to gossip behind her back.
However, to the Wyndham family, Ellie was still beneath them. Their gazes toward her were always filled with disdain.
No one in the crowd spoke to her, making the atmosphere unbearably stifling.
Ellie could only pretend not to notice, gritting her teeth and enduring it to stay. But she was still too young, her heart not yet strong enough, and she couldn’t help but feel restless.
As if sensing Ellie’s discomfort, a voice suddenly rang out at that moment.
"Ellie, you're here too?"
Ellie turned her head and saw Galvin's cousin, Andrea, who used to play with them when they were kids. He was striding quickly toward her.
Ellie looked at Andrea approaching, her eyes filled with surprise.
"Andrea, did you just return to the country?"
"That's right, I just got off the plane yesterday." Andrea flashed a bright smile at Ellie, then naturally reached out to ruffle her hair.
"Wow, our little Ellie baby has grown taller again."
Ellie smiled at him. It had been so long since she last saw Andrea.
Ever since Galvin lost his memory, every day had been incredibly difficult for Ellie. Galvin never believed her, always mocking and looking down on her.
It had been a long time since someone had treated her so kindly. Seeing Andrea in front of her, Ellie felt a warmth spreading in her heart, and her mood instantly lifted.
She happily chatted with Andrea, completely unaware that, at that moment, a pair of cold and malicious eyes were staring at her intently.
Galvin fixated his gaze on Ellie, his sharp eyes like a hawk's, his fingers unconsciously clenching into a fist. That shameless brat.
A wave of unbearable irritation surged within him.
Even if she was nothing more than a discarded, lowly possession of his, she still belonged to him. How dare she act so intimately with another man in public?
Galvin's face darkened as he took deliberate steps toward Ellie.
Andrea noticed Galvin approaching and enthusiastically waved at him.
"Galvin, you're here! Congratulations to both of you on your wedding."
Galvin frowned as he looked at the man before him. Although he had lost a portion of his memory, fortunately, Glenda had been by his side, taking care of him and telling him about the past, helping him recall many things.
Though his memories remained hazy, Galvin could still recognize the man before him as his cousin, Andrea Preston.
He glanced at Andrea and Ellie, then let out a sneering chuckle before mockingly saying, "It seems you still remember that Ellie is married to me. If outsiders saw the way you two are acting, they'd surely think the two of you were the newlyweds instead."
Galvin's voice was as cold as ice, causing Andrea, who had been smiling brightly, to freeze for a moment.
Andrea’s expression darkened instantly, and he spoke in a low voice, “Galvin, what do you mean?”
“What do I mean?” Galvin sneered. “It seems like you’re very interested in my newlywed wife. Do you want me to lend her to you for a few days? That way, you can also experience just how much of a whore she is in bed.”
Andrea was instantly stunned.
Ellie never expected Galvin to say such things. Her entire body trembled with rage. She had grown used to his humiliation, but how could he say such words in front of Andrea?
Without thinking, Ellie raised her hand.
A loud slap echoed through the hall, and everything fell silent.
A bright red handprint instantly appeared on Galvin’s face.
He never expected Ellie to dare strike him, and his fury erupted.
Ellie swallowed, feeling a flicker of fear, then turned and ran. She didn't know when it started, but at some point, she had developed an instinctive fear of Galvin.
