I reluctantly returned to the apartment that night, a knot of anxiety twisting in my stomach.  I’d been putting it off all day, dreading the inevitable confrontation with Gabriel.  But the thought of staying at the office, with David lurking, his eyes still burning into me, was even more unsettling....
