Chapter 8
Emily’s POV
Antonio called his dad and after that, I don’t know how it happened but the doctor walked in and told me the bills had been cleared and also apologized to Antonio and I saying he wasn’t aware Antonio was the son of Mr. Leonardo, who is a successful and influential business tycoon.
I left Antonio in the hospital since he said someone was gonna come pick him up but before I walked out he kept staring weirdly at me and grinning non-stop which I couldn't help but wonder why he was behaving that way. It was really weird of him to keep grinning and boring his pair of eyes on me the whole time.
I went back to where Antonio’s accident happened to pick up the leftover useful groceries I got before heading back home.
I got home but everywhere was quiet unlike usual. I slowly walked to the kitchen to place the remaining groceries that were still intact in their rightful place when I felt a hard hit on my head from behind.
“Arrrrrhhhh…” I yelped out loud in pain holding on to my head.
I turned back slowly and met my foster mum holding a wooden roller with Lily hatefully staring at me.
“What did I do to deserve this?” I asked almost like a whisper.
“Never ever utter a word like that to me again. Why did you leave this house without putting on your demonic makeup, also what took you long before you got here and why are the groceries incomplete? You better start talking before I hit you again.” My foster mum barked, holding tightly to the roller firmly.
“Bitchy ass. Mother like I said to you, she is shamelessly throwing herself to men and today her up is filled up.” Lily ranted staring disgustedly at me.
“I’ll talk but please don’t use the roller on my head. I promise I will tell you everything that happened.” I answered sharply with tears streaming down my cheeks.
“Then start talking now!” She roared.
“I totally forgot I didn’t put on the makeup because I was rushing to get the needed stuff on time and for coming late, actually ehmm…” I stopped for a short while whether to tell the truth or not. Even if I tell them, I'm sure they won’t believe any of it.
“Keep talking or face my wrath.” She snapped.
“Well, I had gotten all the groceries and was already on my way when an accident occurred and I happened to be the only one there so I mistakenly dropped off the bag and saved the victim and rushed him to the hospital.” I related everything.
“You had the guts to help a stranger and made most of the groceries get wasted and also delayed my precious time in the name of help!” She shouted, making my heart shriek.
“You’re a jinx and useless, worthless and meaningless being to everybody.” She jeered and began hitting me with the roller.
“I... I am… am so… sorry mother, forgive me.” I kept pleading not minding the little stain of blood that covered my face.
“God! It really hurts a lot. Please save me!” I muttered touching my body where she kept hitting me as I felt so much pain and agony.
"Please, stop!" I murmured, unable to feel or move my body.
“I’ll make your life even miserable, you worthless animal,” She bellowed, hitting me again and again until she got satisfied and stopped. “I ain’t done with you yet.” She added and walked away cursing nonstop.
“Hahaha this is so hilarious. You need to see how you look like a lonely bitch helplessly weak with no one to love but to hate and curse. To be frank, what you narrated to my mother isn’t the truth. I know you’re seeing men outside who are banging you but be warned don’t you fucking get pregnant here because if you do consider yourself a goner.” Lily spat before bursting out in laughter, enjoying every bit of my weakness.
She's completely crazy thinking I am having an affair with men outside. Well, I can’t say what I've never done so that’s her problem but right now, all I'm after is the condition I'm currently in.
“I know you won’t say it out now but I’ll definitely catch you in the act soon.” She added and walked away leaving me helpless lying on the cold floor of the kitchen in the pool of my blood.
I could hardly move any muscle but after some minutes, I struggled crawling to my room moving slowly with my blood staining everywhere as all that mattered to me at the moment was my well-being.
I finally got to my room through crawling and used the little strength I had to hop on the bed before drifting off to sleep with a thumping headache.
Antonio’s POV
I still can't believe the girl with horrible makeup is actually one hell of a beauty. I don’t know why but I keep seeing her face replaying in my head. Her beauty has really reflected in me, and she's exactly the girl I've been dying to date.
I was laying on the bed just thinking about her, when the door burst open in force revealing my mum who rushed towards me along with my dad right behind her.
I didn’t even get to know her name. I thought, and discarded the thought and looked over to my dad.
He did tell my mum when I asked him not to. I thought, giving him the "not Cool" attitude but he just gave me a look that said, “I can’t do that to her.”
“I’m so sorry baby. I didn’t mean to yell at you and make you leave the house in anger. Please forgive your mum.” She said with tears flowing down her face which I didn’t reply instead and turned my face away.
I really don’t like seeing her in tears or pain in any way but her accusations were just overboard. There's nothing bad about going out to chill with my friends since I was bored but she didn’t understand that and said things I never did. She really did hurt me too.
“I’m deeply sorry baby, please don’t give this cold attitude. It hurts a lot.” She said sadly, turning my face to look at her.
I stare at her. Her face all swollen up and her eyes really red due to the cry, “Okay.” I replied.
“I know it's not okay honey; you just said that to make me stop crying.” She uttered, saying exactly the truth. I only said it because I don’t like seeing how she was.
“I'm being sincere and it's not your fault. I’m sorry too for acting that way towards you.” I stated.
“Baby, it's entirely my fault I shouldn’t have started any of that knowing you do go and have fun on weekends.” She said sniffling.
“It's fine mum and I forgive you. I understand you were only after my welfare but it isn’t your fault I got into an accident.” I assured her wiping the tears off her face.
“I’m sorry once again baby.” She replied and rested her head on my shoulder.
“It's okay mum.” I said and embraced her while dad was just staring and smiling at us.
“Dad, come over.” I gestured to him to join us in the hug.
