Chapter 13
"Leave me alone... What do you want from me?" Nalda groaned frustratedly.
Damian leaned closer to her with his hands in his pocket.
"The truth! And nothing but the truth" He said.
Nalda looked at him boldly.
"I don't know you and I find it weird that you're trying to pry into my private life. I won't repeat myself! Stay away from me. My kids and I have nothing to do with you so stop spying on me!" Nalda forewarned.
"I will stop. At least you've accepted the fact that you've got kids. I just have to find out if you're also lying to me about your identity cos you definitely are Nalda. I'll go for now but I can't promise you that I won't be back!" Damian said and walked away.
Nalda held her breath all through her conversation with Damian.
She caught her breath holding a car for support.
She looked back to see if Damian was gone. He indeed had.
She held her head. So many thoughts ran through her head.
What if Damian comes back and takes Aaron and Aila away from her forcefully? There's a possibility he would do such a thing since he's got all right but... Nalda pursed in her head and bit her lower lips.
I don't think I'm ready to let him push through with any of his thoughts. Not yet!
IRONWOOD PACK HOUSE...
Jerome was headed to his room when he saw his mum going through his things in the study.
"Looking for something?" He asked walking in.
She flinched hearing his voice. She turned around swiftly.
"You got back early from the hospital" she uttered smiling awkwardly.
Jerome took a few steps closer to her.
"Mum, what are you doing? You look very suspicious right now?" He asked.
She swallowed hard refusing to say a word.
Jerome swiftly walked to her and snatched away the envelope she had under his files.
He opened it and glared at her.
"Mum, what's this?" Jerome asked completely pissed.
"Don't you dare give me that angry look cos I'm way angrier than you are? You've been ruling for years now, doesn't it bug you that no one's talking about you getting an heir? Well, if you've shut all the elders up, I'm not going to flow with that. I want you to find your mate and have an heir!" She lashes out frustratedly.
Jerome dropped the paper on his hands on the desk angrily.
"Mum, what do you think I've been doing? Do you think I've not been searching? Even though I told you I saw someone I fancy, you still won't accept her so what's the point? I'll find my mate when the right time comes just don't push it! I'm sick and tired of you going around trying to convince everyone that I've got no choice and direction when it comes to finding my true mate!" He gushed.
She smiled staring at him.
"You fancy someone? Who? You never can tell, I might accept her. Right now, I got no choice... I'll accept whoever you present before me" she said still smiling.
Jerome shook his head trying to cool off.
"Don't give me that understanding card. I know you way too well, mum. You act like you care and you go behind my back doing something else. You see this letter you've written to Linzy? I'll act like I never saw it and next time don't come close to my study room.. this is like an office to me and you know I hate it when someone touches my things!" Jerome forewarned and walked out.
His mum groaned angrily.
"Jerome, I've had enough of you!" She gushed and went after him.
"Jerome, you said you fancy someone! Who's she? Do you mind sharing that information with me? I promise I won't judge you, I'll give you the best support you'll ever need! Does she fancy you also? Is she your mate?" She threw numerous questions at him.
Jerome turned to answer her frustratedly when he saw Nalda heading upstairs tiredly. Her eyes were on the stairs.
Jerome was mesmerized just staring at her.
His mum traced his gaze and wore a frown.
"Don't even think about it. Whatever you're thinking in that head of yours? I'm totally against it, I refuse with every living cell inside of me!" She hissed and walked away.
Nalda looked in their direction and smiled.
"Hey!" She said in a tired tone.
Jerome walked to her with a smile on.
"You look exhausted. I bet you had a busy day at the training center today!" He said and Nalda nodded.
I wish I did. I sat down all day and didn't lift even a finger but I feel so tired. She said in her head.
"Had lunch already? Or should we have lunch together?" Jerome asked.
Nalda glanced at the wall clock on the balcony and she nodded.
"Sure but I'll be heading out in an hour so the lunch has to be snappy, I don't want to miss out on my nap," she said and they both chuckled at it.
"Let's head to the dining then!" Jerome said allowing Nalda to lead the way.
.....
Minutes later during lunch.
Jerome cleared his throat after staring at Nalda for a while, thinking about how to bring up an emotional conversation with her.
"You don't talk much about your late husband... I'm hoping you don't find it rude of me to bring that up" Jerome said calmly.
Nalda smiled nervously.
"Not at all! So what you wish to hear cos I think I've said everything about me already" She said.
Jerome laughed to make her comfortable.
"It's nothing serious. Emm... What was your relationship with him like? When you both found out you were mates, what were your reactions?" He asked.
Nalda dropped her spoon gently while staring at space.
"It wasn't much of a big deal. We were both orphans so we needed support and someone to rely on so getting to know we were mates gave us a sense of comfort we were searching for! It's a pity he didn't live to watch Aila and Aaron grow" Nalda said faking a sad face.
Jerome placed his hand on hers, patting it gently.
"It's okay! Losing him isn't the end of the world. Look at the bright side, the moon goddess blessed you with two instead of one, isn't that amazing..." He said with a smile.
Nalda smiled back.
It would have been perfect if he never showed up. She said in her head frustratedly.
"So how about we talk about you? Still no plans on getting an heir? Or even finding your mate?" Nalda asked jovially.
Jerome laughed awkwardly, that question sure made him feel a bit uncomfortable.
"Of course, I've got plans... Mum has been on my neck for a while now. It is starting to make me take it seriously... About that Alessia, do you have plans of moving on from your late husband?" Jerome asked softly.
Nalda removed her hands from his awkwardly.
She cleared her throat.
"I plan on moving on someday but that someday isn't just now... I still have so much going through my mind. Aila and Aaron are still very young, I know it would be selfish of me to burden someone with my responsibilities and I also don't wish to be a pushover cos I have kids. I respect my kids a lot and I also know my worth" Nalda said and continued eating.
Jerome nodded a bit disappointed at Nalda's decision. He had the hunch, that Nalda knows of his feelings towards her and she also knows of his mum's disagreement concerning the both of them being together.
"I totally understand you! You deserve to be respected" He said with a nod.
MOON SHADOW PACK...
Dre visited Asher for the first time in years.
Getting through the door. Asher's mum stared at Dre in disbelief.
"Dre! I must be seeing things" she exclaimed and Dre laughed.
"It's been a while, right? I'm sorry for being away for so long. I should've visited more often!" He said politely.
"I heard about all your adventures from my friends. Everyone's looking out to seeing you someday. Well, here you are with us right now. It's a bit surprising but I'm hoping you don't disappear again!" She said and Asher came out of his room and dragged Dre with him.
"Bye, Aunt!" Dre said as Asher dragged him along.
Asher took him to the courtyard where they both sat down.
"Is that Sophia?" Dre asked as they watched Sophia train in the woods.
Asher nodded.
"She's been that way for days, I fear she's going loose again since the full moon is coming up today! She's preparing for the worse" Asher said.
Dre kept staring to get a closer glance at her. It's been so long since he saw her right before she even had her wolf.
He can only remember her as a little girl who was always running around with Nalda in the pack.
"She still can't control her wolf?" Dre asked.
"She can sometimes but she's still grieving for the loss of Nalda so Sophia's finding it hard controlling herself in her wolf state" Asher responded.
Dre looked at him seriously.
"You told me something regarding Nalda. Did Damian find her? How is she? Did she lose his child?" Dre asked curiously.
Asher exhaled frustratedly.
"Damian said she doesn't recognize him! She might have lost her memories but she's got two kids with her. He still doesn't know if the kids are his since Alpha Jerome is claiming to be the father of the kids"
Dre thought deeply about it.
"Something's fishy. I saw the little girl, I won't lie she looked like Damian and they connected the moment they saw each other! I thought of it as weird seeing him act all friendly towards a child after so long! There's something else attached to it" Dre said.
Asher chuckled.
"What if it's just an instinct cos she's Nalda's child and that's why there was a connection" He stated.
"Arghhh!" Sophia growled in the woods.
Dre turned to Asher.
"How about we leave the rest of the truth to Sophia? Telling her about Nalda being found will help her, calm her wolf and she can also go find out about her friend don't you think? Nalda might have been cold to Damian but she won't be cold to her friend would she?" Dre asked and Asher wore a half smile.
"Good talk! Let's go speak with Sophia" he said.
Dre shook his head negatively.
"She might attack a new face, she's shifted forms already. Let's not anger her! I'll be waiting for you here, go speak with her" Dre said feeling a bit tempted to go have a look at Sophia.
She's still a kid. It's wrong of me to be excited or eager to see her! Dre said in his head watching Asher head to the woods.
It was getting late already..
Damian was heading to the pack house after finishing up some business at the office when a thought crossed his mind.
He glanced at his wristwatch and his eyes widened in shock.
"The full moon will be open soon. Is Aaron safe?" He uttered and stepped on his engine.
Drove into the highway at a high speed.
Aaron, my suspicions should be wrong...
Damian drove down to the sparrow pack where the kids headed for their trip.
Damian knew of the location cos the principal mentioned it to them yesterday.
Driving along the road, Damian was beginning to hear growls and howls from the woods.
Some werewolves were starting to transition in the woods.
"The kids have to be safe!" Damian stated worriedly.
He kept driving and he sighted a ray of light from a bus, the bus broke down on the way. He widened his eyes in shock and drove down to that direction.
When he got there, the kids were screaming. Their teachers transitioned already, they were surrounded by rogues.
Damian got out of his car and ran into the bus... He looked at all the kids but Aaron was the only one missing.
"Aaron..."
"Where's Aaron?" He screamed getting out of the bus.
He saw Aaron and some other kid being taken away by one of the rogues. Aaron was bleeding profusely on his arm.
"How dare you!!" Damian growled, his claws grew out, his clothes tore as he grew more in size and his skin getting thick with fur, his fangs grew out. His amber eyes glistening red.
