Chapter 5
AUSTIN
We stand to wonder, wondering what's going on. Where did Louise and Alexa meet? These two seem to have a great connection, from the way Alexa is looking at her and the way Louise is defending her, she has never done this for her previous nannies.
“Could they really be mother and daughter?” This becomes the first question that comes to my mind. Alexa is from Beline Pack while we reside here in Avelon Pack. Louise was adopted from Alexa's pack.
I walk up to Dustin and place my mouth close to his ear. “Let her stay so we can take both of their DNAs to verify.”
“What will we do even if we discover she's the mother, remember we went so far away to adopt a baby so we would never come in contact with the mother years later.”
I sigh, shaking my head. “Tell me, you have feelings for her. We all do. Seems there's something special about her, she's our second chance mate.”
“Huh?” Dustin gasps, blinking his eyes several times. His jaw drops, then he shakes his head. “No, no, no.”
“Stop lying! You like her.” I say it out aloud, he becomes speechless, I dislike the way he keeps on denying what he truly feels. It's his lifestyle but here it proves even more annoying. He sees no need of Alexa staying but still he's the one that grabbed her as she was about to go.
As I say this, my brothers who are standing behind us folds their lips, trying hard to compose and keep a serious face. “And y’all, you wanna deny this feeling too?”
“Which feelings?” Cameron asks with a mischievous look.
“Don't mind him. He likes women so much and thinks we all are like him.” Dustin defends. I just smirk, wondering how long they are going to play with fate.
I immediately withdraw from Dustin seeing he isn't saying anything but just gazing at me with both hands in his pocket. Alexa turns as I walk up to her. Our eyes meets and my wolf seems to jump up in excitement, growling. I look down on myself, then back to her and my brothers.
"Who are you?" I mutter. "Why do you tend to have much effect over everything? How did you know Louise?" My mind worked out all these questions and it gets to be released at once.
Justin walks closer to us, staring at her with darkened eyes. Usually nothing interests him but seeing him look so intensely at Alexa, something is certainly going on in his heart.
"I have nothing to say about my life or who I am as I'm not getting to work with you guys," she says, staring at us boldly in the face while dropping Louise who's still clinging to her.
"How did you know her?" I ask Louise.
"My wolf feels so attached to her, I sense she's my birth mom.”
“Come on, you can't say what you aren't sure of. What makes you think that?” I scold her.
“Because I feel it.” She retorts with confidence, glaring directly into my eyes.
While talking with Louise, Alexa searches her luggage which she'd already opened. I wasn't so interested on what she was up to until she taps on me.
“Anywhere since you don't believe this. Take it!”
In her hand was a medical report, two as I look closer. My brothers rush closer, gathering around to take a closer close at it. I peer into it suspiciously, feeling she really wants to prove herself and work with us.
The first happens to be the result of Louise’ DNA and more details about her, exactly like the one we have ourselves. Our lips drifts far apart as we turn to look at each other.
“Give me this! This can't be true.” Dustin snatches the first paper from my hands revealing the second which was a scan result, with the picture of the brain tumor captured.
Gosh!
I raise my index fingers to my lips, I raise my head to look at Alexa. In my eyes, she now appears like a pretty yet helpless maiden who needed help from us.
“I can't believe this!” Dustin mutters. Deep within me, I know this is out of shock rather than doubt. In fact none of us expected this, to meet with the real mother of our kid again.
"I can't believe we actually found her!" Justin rushes forward to hug her but she stops him.
"Wait!!"
I freeze on the spot. I've never found such a woman with great confidence who can look us straight in the eyes and refuse us. I can't really believe she stopped me before hugging her.
Dustin walks towards us, for a while he's been standing at a distance observing us. He holds a smirk on his face as his arms are still crossed over his chest.
“And you're showing this to us for?”
What the hell! Why does Dustin keeps being so stubborn, he can't even admit his feelings or keep his mouth shut. Right now, I feel like knocking that head of his but he wouldn't take it seriously rather as me flirting.
“Don't you see me proving myself as begging you to give me this job. My integrity is my dignity and I wouldn't submit it to a mannerless Alpha like you. Worst than an enemy!”
"You sure know who you're talking to, right?" He targets Alexa who raises her eyes at him.
"Sure, I know and I don't care because I'm going!"
“I'm not ready to deal with your manners,” I hear her generalizing. “I only wanted th o work here initially after I discovered that my celebrity crush is one of the seven. Little did I know you're worse than the devil's son!” She barks at him, rolling his eyes on him.
"Hmm," Dustin scoffs. "Am Omega like you showing us pride?"
“You, in particular!” She lashes back. “I mean you don't even have sympathy even af-” Her voice trails off and she starts to cough. I thought maybe it's something light but it persists, I drop the second file with Baron who's beside me, rushing over to the reception. Getting a bottle water, no rush back, opening it and handing it over to her. She gulps it down, taking a heavy breath as she's done. Her eyes stares down at the water, then to me, she sighs.
“Thanks.” She hands the bottle with the remaining water back to me, what captures me more becomes her eyes as she steadies on mine with a feel of profound gratitude. She nods her head gently, I just don't know what this means, probably she's touched by my kind gesture to her.
"Thanks once again for your kind gesture,” she bows, returning back to Dustin. “You’re the one showing too much pride here and I detests it. I'm done here, I don't have anything to do with where you are."
She gently pulls Alexa's hands off her body, arranging herself and gripping her handbag with her phone on the right and her luggage on the left, she proceeds to walk away.
"Mama!!!"
I hear Louise shout.
Alexa turns one last time, not looking at any of us but our daughter alone, waving to her with a smile.
"I might never see you again but take care of yourself baby, know that mama loves you!" Hearing her say this and with the way my wolf seems to go off me, I rush to her, swiftly turning in front of her and falling to my knees just before her. She looks confused with a gasp, turning to check on my brothers.
“I don't want you to leave. Stay with us!” I say, grabbing both of her hands.
“We don't want you to leave, at least you'll be a good nanny to Louise!” Cameron joins in.
“Yes, at least for your tumor surgery.” Baron says.
Dustin maintains his stance, speechless and looking at us all. He has his arms crossed over his chest.
My eyes darkens in regret and deep desire. "I want you here with us, to take care of our daughter. See she really loves you--" I stammer, not knowing what further to say to her as her eyes are already firm with resolve to leave. I feel like a part of me which I'd always wanted for years now is going to depart once she leaves and there's no other chance of a true mate for us again. We had the first and now, the second which is her.
