Chapter 13
Thirty million was nothing more than a drop in the bucket to Heath.
"Container 226 at Dock One on the East Coast of M City, USA," Aurora replied.
"Thanks!" Heath responded.
Though it was a clear-cut deal involving money and goods, Heath's simple "thanks" suddenly reminded Aurora of the time she fell from the second-floor window, only to be caught firmly by Heath.
So, almost as if possessed, she asked, "Will you be leading the operation yourself?"
"Perhaps." Heath's reply was brief.
"There are nine of them. Three snipers on the perimeter, four disguised as dock workers patrolling, and two guarding the container outside," Aurora replied.
She knew all of the Abyss's operational patterns. It was a ten-man team, and with Jasper gone, only nine remained. She knew the Abyss's combat strength and, subconsciously, didn't want Heath to get hurt.
Heath looked at the information on the screen, deep in thought. This didn't seem like a killer who sold information but more like a sentimental woman.
"Thanks!" he typed slowly.
"Boss, I've found the location! She's in an internet café near Hayek High School!" Kieran showed Heath the tracking results.
"Let's go." Heath grabbed his coat and headed for the door.
Internationally renowned as a top assassin, rumored to have undergone the most professional spy training, nobody knew her appearance or background. He was eager to see what this Olivia was really like.
Aurora took care of everything and left the internet café.
She had found this café in a hurry, near her high school. The sky was gradually darkening, and she walked briskly. If she got home too late, Madeline and her daughter would have another reason to trouble her.
As she was about to reach the main street, a few oddly dressed young men approached, blocking Aurora's path.
"Hey, little girl? Where are you going?" a bleached-haired guy asked, leaning in.
Aurora looked at them warily and said, "How much do you want? I'll pay."
"We don't need money, just want to chat with you," the bleached-haired guy leered.
"You know who I am, right? I have as much money as you want!" Aurora said, testing the waters.
"We came looking for you, so of course we know who you are. Miss Pendleton, the third daughter of the Pendleton family. Heard you lost weight and had some work done. Look at that pretty face," the bleached-haired guy said, reaching out to touch her face.
Exactly! A bunch of thugs were troubling her for no reason, wanting her, not her money.
"Who sent you? Sophia Pendleton? Whatever she's paying, I'll double it," Aurora dodged the bleached-haired guy's hand, disdainfully.
"Enough talk, grab her!" The bleached-haired guy, caught in his own words and furious, ordered the others to drag Aurora into the alley.
The small-time thugs closed in, smirking. Aurora kicked one of them, dressed in a black hoodie, to the ground. The guy in the black hoodie got up and slapped her hard, cursing, "You wretched woman! Dare to kick me! I'll kill you later!"
Seeing that the others hadn't managed to drag Aurora away, the bleached-haired guy rushed over, grabbed her hair, and pulled her into the alley.
Aurora screamed for help, but on this late night, in this secluded alley, not a soul passed by.
She was dragged and pulled into the alley, the thugs rushing over to tear at her clothes. She was only wearing a hooded sweatshirt, exposing her smooth, straight legs, and the thugs had been eyeing her greedily.
One of the thugs rushed over to pull at her top, and Aurora bit down hard on his hand. The thug screamed, and the others rushed over to help, clumsily pulling at Aurora's face and hair, even slapping her.
But Aurora seemed not to feel the pain. She just bit down, like a cornered beast's last struggle.
She had no other choice. She wasn't Olivia, without any special skills. She was just a high school girl with no ability to fight back. If she let go, these men would have no hesitation in tearing off her clothes!
Since her rebirth, things had been going too smoothly for her because she was Olivia, the one all assassins and mercenaries knew and feared. The Olivia who had undergone the cruelest training and strictest education, who could speak eight languages to get close to her targets, who was smart and strong, and who thought she could easily make a place for herself in the Pendleton family.
So her successful weight loss, her success in gaining her grandfather's attention, had all been too easy, even the recent step against the Whitmore family had gone without a hitch.
So she had forgotten that in this wealthy family, where there was little actual fighting, there were countless bloodless ways to deal with enemies.
Her rise had become a thorn in the side of Madeline and her daughter!
