Chapter 73: The Fire Emanating Between Us
The ruins were silent now, but Isla’s heart pounded louder than ever.
Damian’s gaze was molten silver, his hands firm as they traced the curve of her waist. She felt the tension in him, the barely restrained control, the unspoken words.
The battle had left them both raw and raw was dangerous.
She swallowed hard. “Damian…”
But he cut her off, his lips crashing against hers in a kiss that was nothing short of desperate. There was no hesitation, no slow build, only hunger.
She gasped against him as he backed her against the nearest stone wall, his hands sliding up her body, possessive and searching.
“I should be furious with you,” he murmured, his breath hot against her skin as he kissed a trail down her neck.
Her fingers tangled in his hair. “Then punish me.”
A low growl rumbled from his chest, vibrating against her. Her body responded before she could think, arching into him, fire licking through her veins. His hands moved lower, gripping her thighs and lifting her effortlessly. Isla let out a sharp breath as he pinned her against the stone, his weight pressing into her.
“You’re reckless,” he murmured against her throat, nipping at her skin.
She shivered. “You love it.”
A dark chuckle. “It drives me insane.”
His hands roamed freely now, teasing, claiming, testing her resolve and gods, she had none when it came to him. Her head fell back as his mouth traveled lower, his tongue tracing the sensitive skin of her collarbone, her shoulder, before dipping lower still.
The night air was cool against her heated skin, but she barely noticed. Not when Damian was worshipping her with his hands, his mouth, his entire body an when he dropped to his knees before her, silver eyes locked onto hers, Isla knew… she was lost.
