Chapter 15 Amalie

”Mommy?” Rosed asked me as she looked up at me.

“Yes love?” I asked as I looked down at her. The feeling was still surreal. We were free of my parents. No more abuse at their hands of any kind.

“We go back live them again?” she asked. Sniffles breaking her speech up even more than normal.

“Live where Rosebud?” I asked in confusion, trying to decipher her words.

“Bad people,” she said as she hid her face in my neck.

Before I could respond, growls erupted from the twins.

Rose let out a squeak of fear as she buried her face back in my neck to hide. I probably would have cowered in fear as well at how loud they were, but I was too upset at the twins. They had scared my pup. Beren was pissed as well. She was not going to have them scaring our pup.

“Enough,” I growled back, just as fiercely. “You are scaring Rose.”

That comment shut both boys down. Their growling stopped, but they continued to glare.

“Put away the glares or get out of my room. I don’t care if you are my mates. You are scaring my pup and I won’t stand for that,” I ordered, my fear of the unknown and my parents being replaced with anger for my daughter’s well being.

“Yes luna,” Markus’s wolf smirked as he pushed forward. He then pressed his face against my hair.

“Perfect,” Calyx’s wolf said as he had also come forward. He never took his black eyes off me. “We did not mean to upset you or our pup. We only wished to express that you two will never have to go live in that house.”

“Yes, the boys having been waiting for you to wake up. Something about a bonfire and marshmallows,” Markus’s wolf continued to smirk.

‘Goddess, let me forward,’ Beren begged. I knew her tail was wagging.

‘Down!’ I scolded. I was not going to let her forward. If I did, we would end up marked, with Rose leaving with James so we could all mate right here in the hospital.

‘That is an amazing idea! Also, don’t treat me like a house dog!’ Beren shouted at me.

‘Then don’t act like a dog going into heat!’ I shouted back.

“Sorry about them,” Markus apologized as he was finally able to push his wolf back from the surface.

“It’s fine, Beren was trying to push forward as well,” I smiled sheepishly. To distract myself, I asked for clarification. “What did your wolf mean about a bonfire?”

“We’re burning your parents house to the ground,” Calyx stated simply.

“Rose mentioned that you had a treasure box kept somewhere safe in the house. We wanted you to be able to retrieve it first. I then thought that you might want to light the house on fire,” Markus grinned.

“Goddess do I ever. We’re leaving all of their belongings in the house, right?” I asked. Well, it wasn’t murdering my parents but setting the house on fire was plan number 4, 7, and 12. Each one was slightly different. Four was an electrical fire, seven was to make it look like hunters had done it, and twelve was me standing out front, gas can in hand as the house burnt to the ground. What can I say, Beren and I had time to come up with a lot of revenge plans while we were in our coma.

“Whatever you want in the house will be there in the house when we burn it,” Calyx smirked.

“I’m thinking we put your parents and sister in the house and burn them in it,” Markus muttered darkly.

“Please refrain from contemplating and talking about murder in front of my daughter,” I hissed as I looked down at Rose. I was afraid of how much she understood.

“Right,” Mark agreed sheepishly. “But we definitely will burn the house down and roast marshmallows over the charred remains of it. Three-year-olds can have marshmallows, right? Because this has been on my mind since we rescued you and I have been worried that my plans for a family bonding experience is, quiet literally, going up in smoke.”

I forgot how much I missed Mark when he rambled. He always did that when he became excited or nervous. I couldn’t help but laugh. Markus, 6’4, and all muscle, big and imposing looking, but was nervous about giving my three-year-old marshmallows. The idea of a marshmallow defeating him made me laugh.

Both the twins stiffened at my laughs. I could feel Rose smiling in my arms. I knew she didn’t understand what was going on or why I was laughing. She was just happy that I was happy.

“Yes, Rose can eat marshmallows. Although, I don’t want them roasted. They might burn her,” I told him.

“Okay, good. I, we can work with that,” Mark smiled as he relaxed.

“You need to rest,” Cal ordered. “You almost set off the machine. Uncle Will was serious about kicking us out if he has to come back because of the machine.”

“Alright,” I agreed. I was starting to feel tired. Waking up, the information overload, and then the emotional rollercoaster had left me feeling exhausted.

“Sleep, one of us will be here when you wake up,” Cal said.

My eye lids were already drooping. I briefly wondered how I could go from laughing to falling asleep in a few seconds.

“Sleep little one,” Cal’s wolf stated lowly.
