Chapter 25 Amalie

I wasn’t sure what to make of the present that Rose had pushed towards me. She was so excited. Her mouth would not have been able to form a bigger smile even if she tried. I smiled hesitantly as I brought the present closer to me. It was heavier than I thought it would be.

“We made,” Rose laughed. She was getting impatient with me. I was not opening the present fast enough.

“You made it?” I asked as I started to, carefully, remove the wrapping paper. Seven years ago, was the last time I received a gift. It had also been from the twins.

“Don’t tip it sideways,” Mark advised with a smile.

I nodded my head as I continued to unwrap the gift. I was even more intrigued now. I was able to take off the wrapping paper on the top and open the box. I was taken aback by the bouquet of flowers that I saw. “Oh,” I gasped, a smile over taking my lips.

“Let me get it out for you,” Mark smiled. He took back the box and set it on the bedside table. Mark was able to pull out the potted bouquet. He then set it in front of me.

“Oh,” I said again as I studied the flowers. They were a beautiful mixture of blues, purples, and white. I wasn’t sure what all the types are, but I did know that some flowers meant certain things.

“Before you ask, I have a list of what each flower means. Vickie was very adamant about what she picked as per the colors that Rose said you liked,” he smiled sheepishly. He pulled the list out of his pocket and handed it to me.

I looked over the list and smiled.

Flowers

·      White Roses – Purity and eternal love

·      Purpl Chrysanthemums – Care and understanding

·      Blue Peonies – Love, honor, and happiness

·      Light Blue Roses – Peace

·      White Lilies – Rebirth

·      Lilacs – Joy of new beginnings

Greenery

·      Tree fern – Happiness

·      Dusty Miller – Hope

I loved them. The whole bouquet was perfect.

“We help! Flower lady let me put them in!” Rose told me excitedly. “She went snip, handed me flower, and I put in green foam!” Rose made her fingers look like scissors and made cutting motions.

“Wow, you did such a wonderful job of putting them in the green foam,” I told her. She was so excited about being able to help. “Will you?” I asked Mark, indicating to the bouquet. He smiled and took the flowers from me. When the flowers were moved, I scooped up Rose. She wrapped her arms around my neck and buried her face into my hair. “Thank you so much Rosebud. I love them so much! It was the perfect bouquet.”

“Love you mommy,” she whispered into my neck.

“I love you too, Rosebud,” I said as I tried not to cry. I was painfully aware of how close I was to losing her. If I had died, she would have been alone in this world. She would have had no one to love and take care of her properly.

“What did Uncle Will say?” Mark asked as he sat in the chair beside the bed.

“Beren did a really good job of healing Ama,” Cal said as he still had his arms wrapped around me.

‘Course I did,’ Beren scoffed tiredly. ‘If you need me, call. But for now, I’m going to sleep.’

‘Okay, I love you,’ I told her.

‘Love you too,’ she whispered as she fell asleep.

“Ama?” Mark asked me.

“Sorry, Beren was talking to me,” I said as she tuned back into their conversation.

“She okay?” Cal asked from behind me.

“Beren is fine. She is just tired,” I told them.

“Zviad is proud of her and is impatiently waiting to meet her,” Cal chuckled.

“Aziz said the same thing,” Mark smiled.

“I can’t wait to officially meet them,” I said with a smile.

“We have been waiting to meet you as well, little one,” Zviad purred from behind me.

“We are also excited to meet Beren,” Aziz stated.

“When she wakes up, I know she will be more excited to meet you,” I said. It was a good feeling to be wanted. I knew that Rose loved and wanted me, but to have other people want me made me smile.

“So, Uncle Will said that you will be able to get out in a few days?” Mark asked me.

“I think so, there was a lot of crying,” I told him.

“You sad?” Rose asked as she looked up at me.

“I was baby, but not anymore. I am very happy now,” I told her.

She just gave me a nod as my answer satisfied her. Rose snugged back down into my arms. “You both protect,” Rose said to the twins.

“Of course, princess,” Cal smirked.

She gave them a firm nodded from my arms.

“I guess you have both been designated as my protectors,” I told the twins.

“Darling, we were supposed to be your protectors from the time we became fifteen,” Mark stated.

I could tell he wanted to smirk playfully, but the statement brought him pain.

“He’s not wrong. We were planning on telling you that you were our mate when Beren showed up. You were robbed of experiencing your mate for the first time,” Cal said. “That is something that we will never be able to give you back.”

“But we are hoping that you will let us court you and you will one day become our Luna. We have waited for you for years,” Mark told me as he took a hold of one of my hands.

“There has been no one else. We knew you were out there, and we only wanted you,” Cal stated as he tightened his arms around me.

“Okay,” I told them. “But promise me that you two will also love Rose. She may not be mine by blood, but she is my pup. I will leave you both if you hurt her.”

“Love, we love her already,” Cal stated.

“She is the perfect little Rosebud in the whole world. Aziz claimed her when we went to rescue you,” Mark told me.

That, I could live with.
