Chapter 7 Calyx

Zviad was going nuts in my head. He kept howling and growling at me to do something. Unfortunately, I didn’t know what I was supposed to do. He was very unhelpful in this regard. It had started an hour ago, him growling at everything. ‘Will you stop! I have reports to finish!’ I shouted at him. I needed to get some work done before we went to look for Amalie.

‘She’s hurt!’ Zviad finally spoke up to me. He tried to force me to shift. Zviad wanted to go find Amalie now.

We couldn’t, not now. We had a plan. I was not going to deviate from the plan now.

I pushed back and refused him. I was not going to let him shift in the state he was in. I had no idea what he would do. Zviad could be unpredictable at times. He got worse when he was angry. I think that was why the elders were pushing for Mark and I to choose a mate. A luna would calm our anger.

‘She’s hurt!’ he roared again. Zviad tried to force a shift. The force caused me to tumble to the ground in pain.

“Dude! You need to go calm Markus down!” James shouted as he stormed into my office.

“A little busy,” I growled as I tried to keep Zviad from shifting. “Pull Nick from school. Have him and Sam guard me. Go guard Mark,” I ordered as I fought my wolf.

“Dude, I think you need to let the shift happen. Mark was shouting something about her being hurt,” James tried to advise.

I knew that James ment well. He was probably thinking that if we shifted, he could contain Zviad easier in the office. He was very capable of handling one of. But if something was happening and it impaired us, we could hurt pack members in our anger. One problem, if we shifted, Zviad would be able to force the others to let us out.

That thinking on my part, seemed to be the wrong thing as Zviad forced the shift. “Pull Delta Nicholas from school. We’re going for the luna now,” Zviad growled out as shook out his coat. He stood to his full height and growled.

“Alpha Zviad, is this wise?” James asked us. His own wolf, Sandu, started to push closer to the service. His goal, to protect the rest of the pack as needed.

“Now! Or I find a new Beta!” he ordered. Zviad was willing to hurt James in order to go find Ama.

James was forced to submit and take off towards the pack school.

‘Don’t do this,’ I ordered as I tried to fight for control.

‘I told you she was hurt!’ Zviad growled. ‘I gave you years to find her. We are finding her my way, now!’

“Alpha?” Sam asked as he walked into the office, forcing himself to appear calm. He was a good Gamma. He placed himself between us and the door.

“Where is Aziz?” Zviad demanded. He stood to our full height, intimidating Sam to back down. Zviad was pissed.

“Mark ordered us to lock him in his room before he was able to shift,” Sam said as he met Zviad in the eye.

Zviad may not being challenged, but he respected Sam courage and determination. “Unlock him,” Zviad ordered. His tone, the alpha command in effect, left no room for debate.

I watched Sam struggle for a minute before he finally submitted and went for my brother. He came bounding down the steps from our room, not even thirty seconds later.

“We’re going for her,” Aziz stated. He was leaving no room for arguments.

I could feel Markus reaching out for me through the mind link. But Zviad kept it shut and us cut off from the rest of the pack.

“We go now, we tell no one that we are coming,” Zviad ordered both out-loud and through the mind link with Nick, James, Sam, Markus and I.

‘I never said that we would not go for her!’ I shouted in frustration. My anger finally peaking and I lost control of my emotions. ‘If we go now, you might hurt someone.’

‘We go now, and I promise to not hurt anyone as long as they have not hurt our mate,’ he stated as he started towards the door.

“What is the meaning of this?” my father demanded as he stormed into the office.

“We’re going for our Luna,” Zviad growled as he went to walk past him.

“You can’t,” he said as he grabbed Zviad by the scruff of our neck. He hauled us back into the office as if we were a disrespectful pup.

This caused both Zviad and I to growl. How dare my father treat us like a pup in need of discipline.

“Do not growl at me! Shift back!” Mathew ordered, forcing Mark and I to shift. “Now, explain why you are storming out of here in your wolves?”

“Someone is hurting our mate,” Markus stated, his voice shaky as he pulled on a pair of shorts that we had in our office.

“You don’t have a mate,” Mathew growled as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

“We do,” I stated once I had a pair of shorts on.

“No, you don’t,” he growled back.

“We found her when we started high school,” Markus defended.

I could that Aziz was fighting the order to stay unshifted. Zviad was also fighting the command, and we were starting to win.

“No, you don’t because she was locked up before you could realize she was your mate!” Mathew shouted at us in anger.

“What?” I asked, my brain short circuiting.

“She did not deserve to be your mate, so she can not be your mate,” Mathew growled.

“You knew, you knew Amalie was our mate. And you took her from us?” Markus asked, his voice breaking.

“No alpha is able to find their mate before sixteen,” Mathew dismissed.

“No, your line is able to find their mate early,” Markus argued. “We talked about this when we were in junior high with mom. She stated the alpha line was strong. Strong enough to find their mate early. We are strong enough to find our mate when we first shift, not when we turn eighteen. We shifted when we were fourteen. We found her years ago!”

“It’s not your line,” I say in realization. “It’s mom’s line that holds the power. You were her fated mate, brought into the Alpha line.”
