Chapter 8 Calyx
“What are you talking about?” Mark asked as he looked between me and our father.
“Something that we will talk about after we go for Amalie,” I ordered. I was beyond pissed at my father. He took our mate from us before we were able to actually be with her
“No, you are not going for her,” Mathew ordered, his alpha order rooting us all in place.
‘He knew mate was hurt,’ Zviad growled. Zviad was almost there in breaking the alpha command of our father.
‘Can we take him?’ I asked as I started to calculate the odds and the outcomes. If we did this, it would appear that we overthrew our father for the position of alpha. But if we could prove that he knew Amalie was being kept against her will, we would prove we were in the right.
‘Samson has long been going dormant,’ Zviad confirmed.
Mark and I would have to unpack that later. But for now, we could beat him.
‘Challenge,’ I stated simply to Mark.
‘I’m right there with you,’ he growled. Aziz growling his consent for the challenge.
“We challenge you for leadership of the Moonstone Pack,” Markus and I challenged at the same time.
“You dare?” Mathew sputtered. His rage turning to disbelief and surprise.
“I don’t know when you changed or why, but our father would never have done this. He never would have agreed to have our mate locked up and kept from us,” Markus growled.
“Take the title, take you whore of a luna, run this pack into the ground,” Mathew shouted.
“Restrain him here until we get back. We’re going for Amalie. When we get back, we’ll do the alpha ceremony,” I growled.
Sam nodded his head in understanding.
“Let’s go,” I ordered.
‘James and Nick, get to our office and restrain the former alpha. He is to remain there until we can preform the ceremony,’ I ordered.
Markus and I took off running towards Amalie’s home. She had to still be there. If not, we would force her parents to tell us. To hell with curtesy, we would use our alpha command if need be to find her. We were bringing her home today.
‘What did he mean?’ Mark asked me. Brokenness was lacing his tone, he wanted answers to the hurt he was feeling.
‘I don’t know, but we will figure it out later,’ I said darkly. We would figure out why our father kept our mate from us. We would figure out what his plan was.
It took a few minutes to make our way to Amalie’s parents' house. They had relocated out of the inner community to the outer reaches of the pack community shortly before Amalie disappeared. In our anger, we got there faster than normal.
I reached the front door first. No longer caring about curtesy, I kicked in the door. Or at least I tried to. The door didn’t budge.
“Dude, open the door!” Mark hissed at me as he waited beside me.
I shot him a glare and kicked again. Again, it did not move.
“Weak,” Mark muttered as he pushed me out of the way. He delivered his own kick to the front door. When it barely budged, he and Aziz growled at the door.
“Together,” I ordered as lined myself back in front of the door. Mark nodded his head and the two of us kicked the door. This time, the door and the frame moved. “Once more,” I ordered. We kicked again and the door flung open.
“What the hell are you doing in my house!” Thomas shouted as he came into the foyer. He was surprisingly sober looking.
“Where is she?” I growled. I could smell her scent on him. It was then when I saw splatters of blood on his shoes and his hands. “What did you do to her?” I demanded. I moved and pinned him to the wall. The force caused a crater to bloom into the drywalling.
“Mellissa went to college over an hour ago,” he gritted out through the grip I had on his neck.
“She is not who I mean, and you know it!” I growled, letting Zviad come to the surface to show Mstislav that I meant business.
Both Thomas and his wolf, Mstislav, submitted and were about to respond when Marie came into the room.
“What are you doing to my husband?” she shrieked.
“Amalie, where is she?” Mark growled, his alpha command sinking into his tone.
“She’s… she’s not here,” she tried to fight.
“Try again and don’t lie!” I shouted as I tightened my grip on her husband's neck.
“Basement,” she gasped.
Mark rushed past the woman to find the basement door.
“If she is hurt, you three will pay with your lives,” Zviad growled out to the couple. I fully agreed with him.
“We were only doing what we were told,” Marie tried to protest. Tears sprung to her eyes, she tried to appear as the loving mother who was forced to turn on her child due to her alpha.
“Is that true?” I demanded from Thomas, knowing full well that she was lying to me.
“Not entirely, the bitch was useless,” he growled out.
“Call her another name and you will feel my full wrath and Zvaid’s,” I growled.
