Chapter 3

Aurora’s pov

(Three years later)

“Alpha Simeon? You called for me?” A shaky breath escapes my lips as I walk into the Alpha’s office, taking note of the man sitting at the high table.

He was leaning against it, his arms crossed as he flashed me a defiant smirk. His dark brown hair tousled down his forehead, giving his blue chilly eyes a menacing gaze that could take you melting to the ground. But I was not one of his women, neither was any one of them craving to have him. At the least, I was unfazed even.

“Beta Aurora.” He motioned me to sit down and I was grateful for the plain gown I was dotting on this time around, else I wouldn’t know how I’d feel with his eyes burrowing into my skin every time we were together. He really wasn’t a man to hide when he wanted you.

Simon pushed himself off the table before he took slow, but heavy steps towards me, that snarky smirk ardorning his lips.

Simon seemed to be the perfect man. Aside from being the Alpha of Dark Stone’s pack, he has an obscene strength, and a passion to rule, he was kind and temperamental, and most of all, he had saved my life.

Years ago, when I had come searching for shelter in his pack, he had not only taken me into his pack house to be well-treated, but he also made living here comfortable. All the doubts I felt about having to bear the children of his rival Alpha in his own pack seemed to wash over the passing years as I got to know him better.

It was ironic how he was the only one I had to turn to at that moment, fast forward to when I had my babies, I decided I wasn’t going to remain idle in the pack any longer. In some way, I felt indebted to him and decided to help around the pack.

It started with helping him clean his office. I would make it my sole duty to also ensure he had breakfast and dinner after he came back from his meetings. Soon, I was present for those meetings, meetings where they strategized and planned the upgrade of the pack, including during wars and other catastrophe. Due to my experience in things like that, as I was an Alpha daughter and had gone to many meetings with him, I was able to easily chip in some information and useful tactics they could use.

In so doing, my importance in the meetings became very vital to the point that my presence was always needed in the meeting sessions. Tasha, his Beta then had not been a fan of me then. As I had done my very best to hide my identity for the sake of my unborn children then, I had managed to get everyone to stray in their suspicion of me.

But not Tasha, she had hated me from the onset. Her hate seemed to even grow beyond comprehension when she had been demoted and I had been made the Beta two years after I had my babies.

I was reluctant about accepting the position but Simon had assured me I deserved it. I was deserving of it as I had put in the hard work and sacrifice over the years despite everything.

The history with Samuel still left a lingering pain in my chest whenever I recounted what had happened so many years ago, remembering how he had chosen that pathetic Omega over me. An alpha’s daughter! But none seemed to make my heart bleed than when I looked at my kids. Jasmine and Jake, my beautiful twins. I had almost thought I would lose them.

It had just been me and them for a few months before I ran into Alpha Simon Due to the stress and malnutrition I had undergone, the pack doctors doubted they would survive, but I was proud they didn’t break my heart.

It was surprising how much hate I had for their father, but I wanted to keep them. Holding them in my arms that day was a sole reminder of how much I loved them and wanted to keep them with me. They were all I had then, and during my tough days, days where I wanted to give up and end it all, they always kept me going even before they were born.

However, seeing Jake every day was a sole reminder of why I was here in the first place. He bore a very striking image to him.

The devil.

I hope I never had to see his face again. And I had made the right decision by coming to stay in the one pack I knew he’d never come by and we wouldn’t have to see him. His rival pack.

I knew how much Kilian hated Simon and anything about him so it was safe to say we could remain in the pack without the worry that Killian would come. After all, he had never accepted the children as his own, seeing them now, he might want to separate us or harm them and I couldn’t let that happen.

“Are you okay?” My eyes widen when I meet Simon’s dark blue orbs close to mine, and I realize he is kneeling before me, his eyes searching mine worriedly.

I clear my throat and move back uncomfortably. “I’m fine.”

I had spaced out in front of him again.

Simon noticed how uncomfortable I looked so he got up, taking his place in front of his table where he leaned towards the edge, arms folded, and the fabric of his clothes straining against his muscles.

Simon was handsome, even straight men knew Simon was hot. And as much as I was fully aware of his interest in me, I just had to always subtly let him know that I wasn’t interested. After almost being ruined by two men, Alphas specifically, I had built a resolve not to ever let a man come in between me and my children. I was looking to create a name for myself and a home for my kids, and I didn’t plan on inviting a man.

Never.

Not now.

Not ever.

“I called you here to inform you we’re receiving visitors today. He would be spending a few days here while we finalize the agreement document between us.” His eyes briefly searched mine before they narrowed. “I want you to ensure there is tight security around every corner of the pack, all armed. Although it’s an agreement deal, I can’t trust him. Considering the fact he’ll also be staying for a few days, we have to be careful.”

I frown. “A rival Alpha? Why agree to sign the deal with him if that much trust hasn’t been established between you both.”

“That’s a good question,” He looks impressed, but his smile falls immediately, his cold aura sweeping across the room, I could feel the imminent chill of the aura of his wolf upon mine. “But that’s only something between us both. It’s complicated, Aurora. But I want you to assure me you have this handled.”

“You have nothing to worry about, Alpha.” I get up, a small smile on my lips. “How many guests are we expecting?”

“Alpha Killian is not one to just open up about something like that easily, but just to be safe, five rooms in the guest’s room can be arranged in case. He will be with his Beta, but just to be sure.”

The small smile on my face seemed to fall almost instantly. At that moment, I felt fear from the past weaken my knees, and without realizing I almost fell, Simon was at my side in second.

His eyes bore worry into me as I tried to stand straight, keeping my jaw up to hide the expression in my eyes. He mustn’t know I acted this way beca

use he had mentioned Killian. I wouldn’t even want to know what he would do if he learned he had been providing shelter to his Rival’s children and the mother of his cubs.

I would die in Simon’s hands before Killian’s.
