Chapter 7

Aurora's POV.

"I'm sorry I returned late. It was not my intention at all, I was just a bit carried away and... I'm sorry!" Michelle said in a rush, "I told Jeremiah that I needed to leave immediately but he told me that we still had a few more minutes together, I don't even know what is wrong with me." She continued as she unbuttoned her coat and hung it behind the door.

"You must be already pissed off and I assure you that this would never happen again. He took me to this really nice place and I just forgot everything that I said I was going to do. Please forgive me." She stared at me with a puppy dog expression, I didn't know how to get mad at someone who was obviously apologetic.

She was in a state where she was running on high dopamine and I just had to understand what she was going through. This was normal phone girls in this age.

"I understand how you feel, I have also felt the same way." I reassured her so that she didn't die from worrying and excessive fear. I knew that I was revered in the Pack so her actions were understandable. As a proponent of keeping to time, she knew that she could lose her job just because of this and the alpha might probably deal with her fair and square.

"I think that you should take a deep breath, the meeting has been postponed till 9:00 p.m. so you are safe." I reassured her.

She heaved a sigh of relief and her forehead practically relaxed as she looked at me in shock, helping that I wasn't pranking her. Well, I didn't have the time to engage in such stunts, I would rather just be on my own and watch her try to do her thing instead of going all the way on her.

"Thank you so much." She replied but I waved a hand at her dismissively. I wasn't interested in seeing her fidgety just to make myself feel good. I prided myself in acting right. That was the only way to go about this.

"So... Is there anything you want to inform me about? Do I need to give kids anything at night or...?" She trailed off, not knowing how to ask me for more information, trying to escape my anger.

I had built a wall around myself, which made me unpredictable and caused people to be afraid of me. That was my only power. The minutes people could penetrate into your life, it is over.

"The kids are fine, I hope you will be able to watch over them because you are obviously tired. I might be back before midnight or later tonight, I've fed them and bathed them. You practically do not have any job to do tonight." I informed her.

A small smile appeared on her face which she quickly tried to mask with a concerned look. "I will try my best to watch over them. Lewis is outside."she informed me.

Lewis was the guard assigned to watch over my apartment whenever I wasn't around. With the subtle opposition in the pack, it wasn't safe to leave my children unattended to, helping that they would automatically be protected by pack members who were obviously jealous of the position I had assumed in a little period.

"That's fine, do have a nice night." I told her before walking away.

She hummed softly as she walked me back to the door. I knew she was happy from the date and was expecting her to come tell me how it went after my return. She took me as a big sister and that was the only reason I allowed her to get away with a lot of things.

"Oh, and don't forget how to do the things I taught you." I warned her.

"Great."

I arrived at the pack house in a few minutes. I have decided to move out of the pack house when I realized that a lot of people weren't happy at my position. It would be bad for me to know this yet allow my kids to be somewhere they could be harmed.

"Beta Aurora, the alpha has been looking for you. He almost sent me to come fetch you." Todd told me as soon as I stepped on the porch.

I stopped myself from rolling my eyes at his words. Alpha Simeon always loved me to be around him but I tried to distance myself. I knew that with Killian in the building, he would definitely want me to show the best part of the pack.

I dreaded meeting Killian, hoping that he didn't recognize me as the lady who came to disrupt his pack a few years ago. Even if he did, I was going to deny that fact to the last. He wouldn't have anything against me unless I wanted him to.

"Why do I feel like there is a problem?" I inquired from him so that I had an idea of what was going on in the Pack House.

Todd shook his head, "oh no, he wanted me to run something by you and it was quite unusual for you not to be here yet." He explained.

Well, I was here already so we could go right into business and not stress each other about something probably irrelevant.

"All right, thanks for informing me anyway. I'm already here." I replied and pushed the door open.

Suddenly I got hit by a lovely scent, this was none other than my arch nemesis. Killian.

He was pressing his phone so didn't notice me immediately, which I appreciated. I wanted to dive somewhere else to avoid him seeing me but on second thought, I realized that it was probably stupid and cowardly of me.

We were going to meet either way.

I rooted my feet on the floor as I waited for him to spot me.

I felt weird sensations run through my spine the minute he lifted his head.
