A New Day

Monday dawns bright and early, I'm up at 6:30 as usual.

I get out of bed and go to the bathroom to handle my business. When I'm finished, I come out and walk over to my closet to get my clothes for the day.

After I'm dressed and ready, I head downstairs to make breakfast. Something fast and simple today, as I'm not much in the mood to cook. I start my coffee, then I take out two packets of instant oatmeal, put them in a bowl, add some milk and microwave it.

I grab a glass of orange juice and sit it at the table before grabbing my coffee and oatmeal and sitting down to eat. After I'm finished, I'm right out the door on my way to the train station.

I get to work at 8:45, swipe in and head to the elevator.

Once I reach my floor, I stop at the receptionist desk "Hope you enjoyed the rest of your weekend." I say to Linda.

She blushes, and smiles "Yea I just went home, soaked, and went to sleep. So it was very restful."

I chuckle, "Glad to hear it."

I knock on the table before walking off to put my stuff at my desk.

I go to the lounge, where I see breakfast sandwiches stacked in the heated display case. I make Mr. Baldoni's coffee before setting up a sandwich on a tray. When the coffee is done, I add the cup to the tray before walking to Mr. Baldoni's office.

I knock, and hear "Enter." before opening the door and walking inside.

I set the tray on the coffee table "Good morning sir. Here's your breakfast. Would you like me to go over your schedule for today?"

Mr. Baldoni walks over to the couch to take a seat before saying "No need, I think I know every thing I need to for today already. However, I saw I have a late lunch meeting at 2 pm with Mr. Shi. Do you know what it's about?"

I nod my head "Yes, Mr. Shi said he wanted to thank you for handling his issue personally, so he just wanted to treat you to a nice meal. Also he said he's been hearing about a lucrative project, and wanted to run it by you to see if you were interested."

Mr. Baldoni nods while eating his sandwich. After he swallows, he says "I see. There was no need for him to treat me to lunch because I was just doing my job. I'll listen to the project he's talking about though."

I smile slightly before saying "That's good sir, did you need anything else before I go?"

He replies with a "No, thank you."

I nod before walking out of his office and going to my desk. I pull up my work email to check emails to make sure I haven't missed anything important. I see I have an email from Mr. Logan with the subject line 'Work'. I open the email to read the short email that simply says: I believe we can work together well. You may not be interested at the moment, but I think that this will work out well for both of us in the long run. Please get in touch with me so we can discuss things further. I shake my head, I'm not sure why he sent this to my email and not directly to Mr. Baldoni's. I forward the email to Mr. Baldoni with a note letting him know that Mr. Logan sent that to me, but I'm not sure why. After I send that off I check the rest of my emails, but see nothing else of note.

I take the papers for the meeting scheduled at 10 to the meeting room, and lay them on the table at 3 seats. Then I grab the water pitcher, take it to the lounge, clean and fill it. I plate up some donuts from the display case and take those and the water to the meeting room to set on the table. Mr. Baldoni walks in, looks at me weirdly, before asking "Everything good?"

I nod "Yes sir, you're all set up for the meeting."

He nods before telling me I can go.

I walk back to my desk, where I hear my phone chime with my email notification. I open the drawer and grab my phone. After I unlock it I swipe down to see an email from Logan Enterprise. I squeal loudly before remembering where I am and looking around.

My hand is shaking as I press on the email to open it. I see the subject line reads 'Interview Request'.

The email reads simply "Good Morning Mr. Payne. After reviewing your resume, we are interested in bringing you in for the next step. The next step is a face to face interview, so if you could be so kind as to reply to this email with your availability, we will gladly schedule you to come in for an interview. Best Regards, John.

I squeal quietly, before sending off a reply that I'm available whenever they want to schedule it for(because I for sure will be taking off to go to this interview!)

The day drags on, Mr. Baldoni doesn't need my help during most of his meetings today, as they are routine department meetings. So I've just been setting up the meeting room and sitting at my desk most of the day. It's about 4 o'clock when my phone dings again with the email notification.

I open the email to see that they have scheduled the interview for tomorrow at 1 pm. I send a reply saying that I'll be there, and I'm looking forward to meeting with them.

I text the group chat that I have with Melissa, Jack, and Lily telling them that I have an interview tomorrow with Logan Enterprise.

Jack's response comes in first: I knew you could do it! No need for luck, cause you got this in the bag!

Lily's response comes in soon after: EEEEEE! I so knew you had it in the bag, no greater candidate than you! Boss that interview Bitch!

I laugh before reading Melissa's message that just came in: I'm happy for you baby, I know you got this. I'm so rooting for your big dream to come true. It's all yours, take it!

I smile, I so love my friends. They are an awesome support system for me. I open up my sibling group chat and text them that I have an interview tomorrow with Logan Enterprise.

Levi quickly responds with: Yes bro! I knew you could do it! There was never a doubt!

Tim replies: Awesome bro! I know how excited you must be. Keep calm, you've got this!

I finish out the rest of my work day when no more texts come through. I make my way home, and as I'm walking through the door to my house a text message from Roxanne pops up in our group chat "What did I miss?"

I laugh out loud cause I had completely forgotten to tell her about this opportunity.
