Chapter 7

Evelyn’s POV

“What do you want?” I asked him fiercely, but when I saw the look in his eyes, I coward. He was angry, maybe a lot more than that. I knew that from what I saw in his eyes, and for some strange reasons, it made me suck in a breath from fear. His eyes had taken a darker shade of gold, something I have noticed it does a lot whenever he is pissed up at something. But I still can’t tell what he is angry at, or who?

“Eve, come here.” He suddenly called out, after regarding Lucien’s greeting with silence.

I felt Lucien’s eyes on me, as though he was asking questions, but I wasn’t sure I wanted to explain to him the circumstances between myself and the Alpha who everyone was afraid of, especially not when it involved saying I was his mate.

Lucien seemed to notice my unwillingness to explain, and then he spoke up instead.

“Alpha, I heard you saved Eve yesterday. I was out taking care of some pack’s duty; she is safe because of you. Thank you.”  Lucien said calmly.

I gave him a grateful smile, which was only forced. Deep down, my heart was thudding with so much restlessness that I found myself noticing every small movement Alpha Damon made.

I watched him work his jaw, his hands balling into fists, but he still managed to smirk, but it only made him look more terrifying.

He seemed to be holding back his rage as he continued to stare at our entwined hands. It was then that I noticed that Lucien was still holding my wrist. I tried to shake him lightly, but he held onto me as though he was reminding me to stay calm. Now, I am confused. Staying calm when Alpha Damon that Angry could only be trouble, he looked as though his wolf was going to come out soon.

His eyes were now as dark as the midnight sky, and he looked like he was going to snap any minute.

“Eve.” He said simply, his eyes finally meeting mine.

His gaze was enough to knock out all the air in my lungs, and I found myself drawn to him in the strangest way possible.

He stared at me longer than necessary, and I knew then I had to make a decision. I looked at Lucien who looked a little suspicious, and I shot him a small smile.

“Am alright, I will talk to you later.” I told him and gently tugged at his hand holding mine. He looked indecisive as he stared at me.

I knew what was probably going through his mind. ‘How am I going to leave you to that murder? What if he turns around and kill you like he killed his dad and many others?’

He obviously didn’t say that out loud, he wouldn’t dare. But I could see the questions in his eyes, one that made me want to reconsider.

I flashed him another reassuring smile, and I felt his hand tighten gently around mine, but then he slowly let go.

“I will see you around. Call me.” Lucien said, taking a step back. But I could see the unwillingness in his eyes. And now, he was almost glaring at Alpha Damon, but in a more discreet way.

Alpha Damon’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t make any comment on that. He simply stretched his hand out for me to take it.

I could touch his hand, not when I am sure I will spend the rest of the night, remembering the feel of our hands together.

“Alpha Damon, you wanted to see me?” My tone was courteous. I was trying to draw a clear line between us. It seemed he understood because his eyes darkened.

He took a step closer to me, his eyes holding mine with an intensity that made my heart beat, and I quickly looked away, for fear I will falter under his gaze. His hand slowly reached up, and his hand cupped my chin, forcing me to look up at him, and he brought his face closer to mine and whispered into my ear.

“It’s Damon to you, little wolf. Don’t forget that.” His tone was low as he said this, sending a vibration through my whole body, and I suck in a breath at that.

“Who is he, a boyfriend?” He asked as he brought his face closer to mine. “I don’t like anyone touching what’s mine.” He grumbled in a seductive low voice.

I pulled my thighs together, trying to suppress the sensation that was suddenly burning my lower region. Gosh, what was happening to me?
