ALEXANDER

I was standing in front of Althea's home while the guards were fixing everything. While she was in the hospital, Beta Calvin raided the house more than once. When Alpha Damon came to know, he was furious. Alpha Damon ordered Beta Calvin to fix everything up by the time Althea would be discharged from the hospital. But that bastard dumped it on my head and went away.

I turned around only to find Althea standing behind me. Her eyes were filled with tears When she gazed up on her home. Callista, who followed her behind, gasped in surprise when she saw what the neighborhood did to Althea's home. I growled under my chest and turned my gaze away from her. Althea looked pale and thin. Her existence had annoyed me since the very beginning for some reason.

She was standing afar, staring at the exterior of her home. She walked towards me after a while. There was a confused frown on Callista's face. "What happened here? Who would do something so horrible to someone's home?" Callista asked me in a confused tone. Althea was sobbing quietly and Callista hugged her to console her.

My gaze went toward the bandage on Althea's forearm. I remembered the sight where the rogues were killed by the newly shifted wolves a day after. I got to see it the very next day since that night was also the first night when I shifted for the first time.

It was surprising for everyone how smartly Althea played the rogues as well as her parents. The thought made my blood boil. It was just way too perfect for a teenage girl to pull a stunt like that against the rogues. Sure, she got hurt badly. But without her wolf, she was supposed to lose her life.

"Yeah! This house belongs to traitors. And the Beta turned this place upside down to find evidence against the traitor that is left inside the pack." I growled at angrily at the guard who decided to pour shit hour if his mouth. He just shrugged his shouldes carelessly. I heard someone's knuckles cracking. I turned my head to look and found that it was not Althea, but Callista, growling in anger. Her face turned red and she looked like she was about to lose it.

"If you morons are already done, leave already. I can't stand here all day babysit you fuckers for something Beta Calvin was ordered to do. I don't have time to clean up his fucking messes." I growled at all the men who were fixing everything.

Everyone was leaving when Callista stopped the guard who decided to mock Althea. “You will be hearing from Alpha Damon, Mr Cole.” Callista's eyes were murderous. It even made me gulp in fear. Along with the guards and the omegas, I turned around and walked away. I didn't want to look at Althea's face anymore. There was a storm within me when I watched her cry, I didn't even know why. Maybe because she was my cousin, and the only family I had left after her parents betrayed the pack and ran away.

A few hours later, I was sitting on the hammock chair in front of my cabin while reading a book. "What are you doing, Bo?" Callie asked me as she walked towards my cabin. A wide smile appeared on my face as I looked at my baby girl. I opened my arms and she quickly jumped on top of my lap. I placed the book aside and hugged her tightly.

"Nothing at all. What brought you here, baby girl?" I asked Callista in a gentle tone while I was gently caressing her head. I heard her giggle shyly in my arms.

Because she was young, we didn't try to be funky. But I loved her more than anything in this entire world. She was my lifeline and I couldn't wait for her to turn 18. We had decided to mark each other the very day she would turn 18. It didn't matter if I was her mate or not.

"Oh yeah! I forgot why I came here. Dad wants to see you. He sent me here to call you." Callista whispered as she buried her face in my chest. Ruffling her hair, I pulled away from her. I stood up, grabbed her hand and we started walking toward the alpha's mansion.

As soon as I entered the mansion, I saw Beta Calvin walking out. As always, he gave me a dirty look. He had been a jerk towards me ever since he was named as beta. No! He was named as the substitute Beta. Until the day I would find my mate and mark her, he was supposed to take care of the beta's responsibilities.

Maybe that's why he was irritated. My father was the last beta. And after he died fighting like a true warrior in a war against the rogues, Alpha had no other choice but to select a substitute Beta for a while. Though, he didn't want to. He wanted me to take the place that was my birthright. My family, my forefathers had been the betas of this pack since it was created. But I was just a child back then. I was only eight when I lost my parents in a war.

Ignoring the arrogant bastard, I pulled Callista into the mansion. "You go to your room. I am going to talk to Alpha." I spoke as I noticed Callista wanting to come with me. An angry pout appeared on her face as she turned around and walked away. I couldn't help but smile. She was just so adorable.

I was sitting in front of Alpha Damon, playing with my fingers nervously. "I want you to train Althea. She is probably the future Luna of this pack. Since she is brave and smart, I want you to give her some extra skills. Train her like you have been trained." Alpha Damon spoke after a while.

I couldn't help myself but narrow my head. I was not expecting Alpha Damon would ever ask me something that I hated the most. "Alpha, with all due respect, but can't you ask someone else to do it? You know, Althea and I never really got along." I tried to argue. I was afraid of being disrespectful toward Alpha. That's why, I didn't dare look him in the eye. But I had to tell him that I couldn't do it.

It wasn't true though. She and I were cousins. And I adored her as my little sister ever since I could remember. But then the puberty hit and as much as I lived Callista, I hated Althea's existence. But I couldn't tell that to anyone. "I knew you would say something like that. It's not like I want to push you or anything." Alpha Damon replied in a low tone. Right after hearing my response, he started rummaging through all the drawers on his desk.

"I hope you are well aware of the fact when you shifted for the first time in your life. It was the same night when Callista was attacked. You remember that, right?" Alpha Damon added in a questioning tone. I couldn't help but frown in confusion.

"Yes, alpha! I am well aware. But what does it have to do with the conversation we were having?" I asked Alpha Damon out of confusion. Instead of replying to me, Alpha Damon placed a snap in front of me. Frowning in confusion, I picked it up. As soon as I looked at the snap, I felt my soul leaving my body. Someone was able to take a photo of the incident. The specific incident of the wolves attacking Althea. Or rather, I should say, a specific wolf attacking her.
