NARRATOR
Alpha Damon was sitting in front of the council of the Emerald Academy for shifters. He was tapping his right heel on the ground as he was nervous to know the results. After everything that happened, he came to the kingdom by himself for the sake of the future of his pack. "Alpha Damon, have you lost your fucking mind? For the love of the Moon Goddess, you want a traitor to be part of this pure academy?" The chief of the council, Mr. Harrison, asked Alpha Damon in an angry tone.
Alpha Damon sighed as he heard Mr. Harrison repeating the same words as his Beta. Other councilmen and the alphas of the difference packs started chattering almost immediately.
"Gentlemen, please! I give you my word that the girl is not a traitor. She risked her life for the sake of my daughter and the pack." Alpha Damon spoke in a low tone, trying to convince the council. The guilt of not trusting Althea was eating him from inside. And Alpha Damon wanted to do the right thing. He wanted to try and save one of the dreams she had.
Mr. Harrison started laughing as soon as he heard Alpha Damon trying to defend a girl he shared no blood relation. "Alpha Damon, you might have lost your mind but we are sane enough to never trust a traitor. What if her parents left her behind for some reason?" Mr. Harrison growled at Alpha Damon angrily.
"Perhaps, you should just kill that little piece of garbage. You should end her before she will become the end of you." Alpha Jigan, the Alpha of the Silver Land Pack, spoke in a low tone. All the other alphas agreed with him immediately.
"No! Never! I will never let anyone get anywhere near her. She proved herself to me. I trust her." Alpha Damon defended Althea in front of the council and the alphas.
"Nonsense! Her parents betrayed you. Maybe they left her so they could infiltrate the shifter Kingdom with her help. I can never allow that to happen." Mr. Harrison growled at Alpha Damon angrily. After everything, Alpha Damon was losing the argument. He wanted to make his dream of Althea come true.
The promise he made to that innocent girl who sacrificed her future for the sake of the pack and to prove her loyalty to the alpha. "But you can't do it. In centuries, there is just one child who is ever able to break the records of our beloved late king. It's her right to be in the academy." Alpha Damon defended her yet again, trying to use the last thing he had against the council.
Mr Harrison had this annoyed look on his face. As if he really didn't want to have that conversation. It was true. The board left him all alone to deal with Alpha Damon. At first, it was an easy task for anyone to deal with some alphas arguing over the last few seats of the academy. So they could get their children in.
The academy at the capital was known to train the best of the alphas and Lunas. Every alpha wanted their sons and the future mates of their sons to be in that academy.
Everything was fine for Mr Harrison. Until it was not. And Mr Harrison realized later why the whole board didn't want to deal with the alphas that day. “Just because she scored the highest in the academy, more than our late Alpha king, doesn't mean it becomes her birthright to be part of the academy.” Mr MacCalt growled at Alpha Damon. To him, Alpha Damon was being unrealistic.
“It was set as a law that if anyone in the shifter's kingdom ever broke the records of our late King, would automatically get a seat in the academy. No questions asked. No fees to pay as well.” Alpha Damon was actually reading through the guide book of the academy that was published a few days after the late alpha king took over the throne. It was to encourage the students to do better and even try to defeat the genius king.
Everyone was glaring at Alpha Damon. But he was not ready to back down. Not just yet. He had things he wanted to say to Mr Harrison and the others who were raising questions about Althea and her loyalty toward Alpha Damon and his bloodline.
Mr Harrison sighed. It was one of the clauses that were written in the guide book. Something people literally ignore saying too much information could be too boring. They had no idea that a little bit of encouragement could literally change lives and the future of the kingdom where the future of the kingdom would be determined to fight and win against their past.
The genius king was wise. He wanted the future to do better with the kingdom. Better than the people in the past. “I just don't understand why it is so important for you. She is just an Omega. A weak omega. Why are you so obsessed with all that? If I were you, I wouldn't even consider her as my son's mate.” Alpha jigan spoke again.
“You shut your mouth. I know your kind. Always making the lower ranks suffer because you can. Because you have the power. What you don't know, you also have this complex and constant fear.” Alpha Damon was now pissed. He believed no one had the right to say anything to Althea.
“He is not wrong, Alpha Damon. Why are you fighting for her so hard? You cam reward her at your pack for her loyalty and sacrifice. Why are you begging us to get her a place in the academy?” Mr Harrison asked out of curiosity.
Aloha Damon was quiet. He couldn't answer the question Mr Harrison asked. “I just want to make her dream come true.” Alpha Damon spoke in a low voice. His voice was barely audible. But everyone heard it.
Mr. Harrison stood up from his chair, glaring at Alpha Damon. "This question is beyond me. This matter is no longer mine to resolve. I must consult with the teachers and the principal. Give me some time to discuss this matter with everyone again. The meeting is dismissed." Mr. Harrison spoke in an annoyed tone as he walked away.
