Chapter 08

“Ma'am, I'll go get breakfast for you, please go get changed!” Anna wiped the tears from her face before speaking, and was excited to accompany Lilian to her appointment with the obstetrician.

After changing her clothes, Lilian discovered that Anna had not yet returned, so she grabbed her cell phone and dialed Daniel's number. However, Daniel's phone remained inactive after several attempts.

Lilian remembered that Daniel had told her that if he was on a military mission, his phone would definitely be turned off or he would be unable to be contacted.

“Is he on duty now?” she muttered as she stared at her phone screen, and after thinking for a moment, she decided to send him a message.

[Lilian:] Thank you, Daniel, for your help.

[Lilian:] I tried to call you, but it seemed like you were on duty. Please call me if you have time.

After sending a message to Daniel, Lilian checked for missed calls and only found one from Ana, and she felt relieved that her family did not yet know about her divorce.

She hadn't planned on telling them, as she wanted to avoid their judgment. She plans to leave the country discreetly.

With limited time, Lilian contacted several people to take care of the necessary documents to live in another country, and when she finished, the door opened, surprising Lilian to see Ana carrying shopping bags in her hands.

“Anna, why did you buy so much?”

“I only bought healthy food!” Anna replied as she unpacked the items on the dining room table.

Lilian approached, impressed by how quickly Anna had bought everything.

After breakfast, Lilian shared her plan to temporarily return to her old apartment.

“I never imagined we'd go back there!” Anna said.

For the past five years, every weekend, she had cleaned Lilian's old apartment, who never wanted to rent it out or get rid of her property.

“That place is special because I bought it with my own money.”

“You're right. Not even your family knew about that place. How many days are we going to stay there?”

“Until all the necessary documents are ready.”

“And where are we going?” Anna was silent before asking again.

“We're going to France for a while. I like it there.”

It was almost night when Lilian arrived at Ethan's house. In fact, Lilian didn't want to go back to that house anymore, but she needed to get all her belongings out and, most importantly, erase all traces of herself from the house.

She didn't want to leave anything for Ethan to remember her by. She wanted that man to forget her, because she would do the same.

When Lilian finished parking the rental car in the front yard, she saw Anna appear at the front door, looking worried enough for Lilian to realize that something was going on inside.

“What's wrong? Why are you upset?” Lilian asked as soon as she got out of the car.

“Ma'am, there's someone in the living room who wants to talk to you!” Anna said with a worried tone.

“Let me guess, it's the Witch of 71?” Lilian asked casually as she walked toward the door and prepared to face her mother-in-law for the last time before moving out. Anna said nothing, just nodded.

“Anna, have you finished packing everything I asked you to?”

“Yes. I've packed all your belongings and taken all your pictures out of the house. But...” Anna paused as she stopped walking, and Lilian also stopped and turned to look at Anna. “I didn't go into the maid's room, because his maid always keeps that room locked and never lets anyone else in.” “She said quietly, afraid that someone would hear what they were saying.

”Anna, don't worry, Ethan would never keep a photo of me in his bedroom or his office! "Her lips revealed an almost imperceptible smile as she remembered how cold Ethan had been to her during their five years of marriage.

Few people knew that they didn't share the same bedroom; in fact, they each had their own, and Ethan only visited her room when he wanted to make love.

All this time, she had been deluding herself into thinking that Ethan had some feelings for her, even if only a little; that was why she was fine with this arrangement.

Anna was speechless and felt sorry for her boss.

She knows how miserable Lilian's life is in this house, but she can't make her change her mind about leaving, because she knows that Lilian truly loves Ethan. She could only protect Lilian if someone tried to hurt her physically.

“Can you bring all my things to the car, please?” Lilian handed Anna her car keys. “Let's leave tonight, after I take care of my problem here.”

After watching Anna leave, her smile gradually faded, and her lovely expression slowly turned cold, ready to face the witch in the

“Mother-in-law, how are you?” Lilian greeted her first, and although she hated Suelen, as a woman, she was impressed by how Suelen maintained her beauty and figure.

She still looks young, even though she's almost sixty.

Lilian had never seen Suelen wear casual clothes at home, and she always appeared in her beautiful, expensive dresses from some famous store.

“I didn't know you were coming, if I had, I would have come back earlier!” Lilian said with a fake apologetic expression.

Seeing how calm Suelen is now, she didn't start verbally abusing her, and Lilian could imagine that Suelen still doesn't know about her divorce from Ethan. Because if this woman knew, she would have kicked her out of the house.

“How can I help?” Lilian asked again, remembering Anna's words that Suelen had been waiting for her since that afternoon.

Suelen's cold expression slowly changed as she smiled, although her smile didn't reach her eyes, and Lilian wasn't surprised to see Suelen's cold smile.

“Don't call me mother-in-law!” After a few seconds of silence, Suelen finally said. “Why are you still here?” Suelen's eyes were so piercing, as if she wanted to slap Lilian.
