Chapter 15
Laurel sniffed. This man had no pity. 'I take it that you are confirming my suspicions right?"
He chuckled. 'What suspicions?"
'Can you please put something on?!" She could stand his family jewels dangling with every little movement.
Lucas couldn't care less. 'I don't know what is going on in that crazy head of yours. But you must know one thing," he paused, scanning her figure from head to toe.
Laurel suddenly felt conscious of herself. She was wearing the bunny love pajamas from yesterday. It felt like he was removing every piece of the clothing from her body with his eyes.
'I don't follow orders. You are in my house and you will play by my rules. If you see something you don't like, you don't have the right to say anything about it. Your opinion is useless here." He finished with a smirk.
Laurel frowned as what he said sank into her head slowly. 'So, I don't have the right to say anything even though I am held here against my will? Great!"
'Now, if you would excuse me, I have important matters to attend to." With that, he shut the door in her face.
To say Laurel was embarrassed was an understatement. She felt humiliated and what's worse? She couldn't do anything about it. She didn't want to confront him about last night. It would be too awkward and his being naked didn't exactly give her the courage she needed.
Did she feel attracted to Boss Lucas? Yes. Who wouldn't be? She had managed to hide her blush the time he opened the door. Sculpted muscles and abs, hard chest, hairy trails leading to the very place that made Laurel's ears red. She had caught a glimpse into his room for just a second. He was neat and Laurel was certain his morning breath would scent well.
'What in God's name are you thinking about?" Laurel asked herself after a moment. The house was empty again. She slowly eyed the room. It was looking spotless and she almost gagged comparing it to her apartment which was an eye sore.
Her eyes lit in excitement as an idea popped into her head. She would open the can of worms later with Boss Lucas but right now, this would be a way to escape from this fancy prison.
She carefully avoided a step in a bid to get to Lucas' door. Then she knocked and the door opened almost immediately. There he was with a clean shirt over his blessed frame. His silk black hair was already combed to the back and water dropped from its tips. He had an eyebrow raised in what looked like confusion to Laurel. Slowly, a pink tongue slipped out to lick his plump pale lips. Reluctantly, Laurel raised her gaze to find him already looking at her with those cold eyes of his.
Blushing, Laurel cleared her throat. 'I have a c-cat at my-my apartment."
Lucas frowned. 'What does that have to do with me?"
Laurel lifted her lips in a shaky smile. 'I want my cat here with me. To keep me company at least."
'I can send Cecil to get the cat for you or get you one myself." Lucas shrugged as he went further into the room to dress up. Just like the moment at the study room, Laurel didn't know if she was allowed to enter in or not. This room also screamed back off and with the many rules Boss Lucas laid down for her, she wasn't sure if she should cross that line.
She watched as he picked up the three piece red suit lying on the bed. Everything he needed was arranged neatly in his open closet. Laurel forgot herself for a moment while staring at the magnificent room. The only thing that made Laurel unwelcomed was its colors, grey and white. It looked like a mental room for neat freaks.
'And why would you get a cat for me? My cat follows me. I wouldn't send Cecil if I were you." Laurel shrugged, squinting at the mirror in the room. She looked terrible compared to the grand master of the room.
Boss Lucas obviously had some where to go or rather had a score to settle with Silas. He had done what he hated which was setting him up with a slut. Silas knew his weak point and did what he did. Lucas couldn't hold his liquor well and Silas knew that. The sneaky bastard.
'The fact I offered to the cat for you should make you happy and not annoying. Secondly, I would send Cecil to get a cat if I were me. I don't trust you."
Laurel was getting fed up. 'You know what? Let me tag along. Besides how would you know where I live? Cecil can take me to my apartment and that's it. I am in and out in no time."
He paused; mid way wearing his wrist watch. 'You are asking me to trust you. A woman who has refused to trust me." It wasn't a question. It was a statement and Laurel knew she was losing the argument fast.
'I promise you that I won't try anything funny." That was the only thing left for Laurel to say. So far, Boss Lucas didn't care about promises but if there was one thing he respected was rules and Laurel wasn't one to bend to the rules. It would be a tough fight she knew.
Lucas chuckled as soon as those words left Laurels lips. He almost considered the idea but decided against it when he saw a glint of mischief in her eyes. Luis told him to look out for that and somehow, he was right. He placed his hands on his hips as he stared intently at her. She may look nervous but Lucas knew it was all a façade. She used it to disarm her opponent, whether in an argument or anything at all.
A trick.
