Chapter 2
Eva's POV
'My name is Luna,
I'm your wolf forever. And...'
And?
'Young Alpha Damien is our mate.' She said, My eyebrows crushed into themselves. I wasn't able to move just yet.
All of the luck in the world turned away from me. The Goddess was ignoring my pleas all this while, wasn't she?
A rogue would've been a better-fated pair for me than that monster. He'd just keep using me for everything - entertainment, resentment, and worst of all…breeding. That's why he strategically reduced me to an omega.
"No...' I moaned in pain and denial.
"Look at her," Suddenly, the little audience of his turned to stare at me. Damien gulped my soul with his eyes. They stared at me with something I couldn't have guessed - since I never experienced it. But other women would've called it...lust. I noticed how my gear was stolen and my breasts lay numb on my sides.
"Ugh..." I closed my eyes, the sun was glaring into my eyes. How long was I left on the ground? I pulled the fabric around my waist to cover myself up. Why did everything hurt so much?
Turning my head around, I caught how their pants were tighter around the pelvis. A wave of disgust washed over me as a tear escaped involuntarily.
"Don't worry lads. I'll let you boys play with her once I'm done enjoying her myself. She's so fit, so beautiful…
Youth never escapes the eyes of an Alpha~"
The boys cackled. My eyes widened. The sun didn't seem that bright anymore, because my world had just gotten shades darker than ever.
The feeling of disgust and rage mixed in my veins. My body forced itself up to stand against the man. My back was infected, open wounds filled with dust and soil.
With every ounce of energy I got, I seethed at Damien while holding my dignity in my hands.
"I will NEVER be your mate."
My body shook with anger as the words left my mouth like venom.
A smile as close to mischief faded from his face in an instant. I loved watching it fade.
But a scowl replaced it quickly.
"What did you just say?" He took a menacing step forward. His body was glowing with...embarrassment.
"I reject you, Young Alpha Damien."
Loud gasps erupted behind him. The audience was bigger than I thought. It was half of the pack, listening to his lore of how well he would torture me.
"ARGH!" A backhanded slap landed on my cheek!
"HOW DARE YOU HUMILIATE ME IN FRONT OF MY OWN PEOPLE!?" Damien kicked me, square in the chest. That hurt a lot without the gear!!
"No one would want someone as filthy as you! You rogue!" He screamed, kicking me with each word. I cried relentlessly, begging for mercy which never came.
"Stop it, Young Alpha! She...she lost her mother. Have some mercy. Others are watching." The beta of our pack warned. Damien's rage came down significantly, but his ego was bruised all too well.
"I'll see you in hell, you bitch." Cursing at me, Damien stomped away, almost stepping on my extended palm on the ground.
I refused to pass out this time. My body was in so much pain. It shot through all over. But who was there to listen to me?
"Ma..." I cried, holding my chest and stomach. I lay under the scorching sun in a fetal position, imagining myself on my mother's lap. Ironic...because my mother had become one with the soil not long ago.
The clouds grew dark and cold as if to comfort me from the glaring sun. It started pouring, clearing out the dirt and grime from my body, and cooling me down.
The earth was bathing me.
My mother was still with me...
How long did I have to endure this torment?
Just what did I ever do to these people...?
"She's right there." Damien's voice from the distance made me stir awake from my brink of slumber.
Alpha and Luna of the pack were with him, walking towards me with their royal clothing. They must've just reached the pack after the royal meeting.
"She's the cause of Beta Elizabeth's death. Her own daughter. You have to do what I say before we get struck with eternal doom, Father." Damien coerced his father who stared at me with bloodshot eyes.
"You stole my Beta away from us..." He seethed.
"I lost my mother..." I said, standing up.
"And you dared reject my son in front of everyone." He added. I stayed quiet, glaring at Damien and the Alpha himself.
"We thought you'd be of some use - any use - when you get older in this pack, Eva. You're an Unawakened, yet we fed you and took care of you, only for you to repay us with...arrogance." He said, his voice filled with disappointment. My heart was thudding against my chest. Luna, my wolf was helping the drum of my soul through my heart. My courage was fumbling, but it was building.
"With your arrogance, you've lost purpose in this pack.
Get her out of here. She doesn't belong to the Howling Sky any longer." My eyes popped out of my skull.
'He's banishing us from the pack!' Luna exclaimed in my head. Her panic was defined - she was a wolf whose livelihood depended on where she BELONGED.
Now that was gone, our identity had been reduced to,
"Throw her into the woods. She was and forever will be a rogue."
The crowd burst into howls. The horrifying sounds of everyone rejecting me and my wolf were deafening. The warrior ranks held me up and threw me out of the territory.
"D-Damien." I turned to him. Luna was screaming, clawing at my skull to do something.
"You've lost your chance, Eva. But before parting, I have something for you." Saying, Damien crouched down and held a vial of potion to my head.
The warrior ranks were staring at me intently. The glowing cyan liquid in the vial was making me feel nauseous already.
"No...no!" I screamed and protested.
Damien held the back of my head tightly, the other wolf held my hands and legs to the ground. I cried to be freed, I watched the clouds turn away from me.
"Drink it!" Damien pushed the vial far deep into my throat, I had no choice but to gulp.
My body lunged forward as I spit the vial out. My body had absorbed the potion already.
I stood up, breathing raggedly.
"Now get the fuck away from here, and never come back." Damien pushed me away by my head. I felt utterly disrespected - I wasn't new to that.
I walked in a beeline, straight into the murderous dark woods. My head hurt. My heart hurt. Everything hurt. The sirens were calling for me, I could hear them sing.
I reached the epicenter of the dark woods. If my memory was intact, this part of the woods was notorious for a...presence.
The shadow of darkness lingered and haunted even the wordless animals to death. It was eerie and foggy around there, even the canopies were invisible to the naked eye above.
A sole, far cry made me whip my head towards it. I felt dizzy like I was going to faint at any moment.
My eyes widened.
It was the shadow...of a man.
He was the carrier of my death, my ultimate freedom.
