Monday
After Juniper and Jeremy helped me bring all of my boxes upstairs, I quickly unpacked and put everything away.
We had a normal night afterwards, getting food from the dining hall and bringing it back to the dorm. Juniper showed me photos of her and Jeremy and explained how they met. Cute story by the way, apparantly it was love at first sight at a house party. Typical I guess.
The weekend went by quickly after that. Sunday I called Janet and informed her of the level of Jeremy's hottness and told her all about Juniper. Honestly Juniper reminded me of Janet. They were both big balls of energy and were down for anything. Although I could never see Janet putting on a cheerleading uniform.
Monday came and my alarm went off at 6:30am. Wonderful.
I quickly got up and brushed my teeth and put on an outfit that probably screamed don't approach me and I don't care. I wasn't one for flashy outfits, the most anyone was getting out of me was jeans and a simple baseball mini tee and converse.
I headed over to the recreation building and easily found my first class. "How to Surive: The Basics". I had already taken this course before but because of my abrupt departure I didn't get the chance to finish it.
I chose a seat next to a girl with black glasses and short black hair. She looked nice enough and hopefully wouldn't say anything to me if I sat here.
She said nothing the entire class, which I silently thanked her for. Juniper was enough social interaction for a whole week honestly.
The rest of my day went by quickly. The class I was feeling the most nervous about was the last in my day. Archery.
Archery intrigued me but I didn't exactly like the last interaction I had with Dr. Richards. Maybe I was judging too soon and he was just being polite. Maybe he was like that with all of his students.
I pushed open the doors and 13 pairs of eyes found mine. Okay, awkward.
"Ms. May! Thank you for finally joining us."
Was I late? I looked at my phone and I still had five minutes. What was this guy on?
"Uh, I'm sorry, am I late? I thought this class started at 4:30?"
"Oh well yes Ms. May, but I always urge my students to arrive ten minutes early for proper uniform inspection and you young lady are most definitely not in the correct uniform, making you late."
"There's a uniform?"
A couple of people had to muffle their laughs at my question, and looking around I finally noticed everyone in matching green uniforms.
"Yes Ms. May. Will someone please take Ms. May to gather her uniform?"
Dr. Richards looked around until a certain hand shot up into the air.
A tall, broad man stepped forward. If I thought Jeremy was hot, this guy was next level. His muscles rippled under his green shirt, and his hair was pulled back into a messy curly man bun. His gray eyes burned into mine. He was hot, hot hot. Hotter than hot.
"Ah Finley! So nice of you to volunteer yourself for once. Guide Ms. May to the lounge with the uniforms. Do so with haste please."
"Sure Richards, whatever you say."
Finley smirked and started walking, no, more like stalking, towards me. He towered above me, in what felt like an unnatural way.
Dr. Richards scoffed at Finley and turned back towards the other students. He started barking orders and everyone began to move. Except Finely and I.
"Well are you going to get moving or are we going to stand here all day?"
I rolled my eyes and turned around. How the hell did he expect me to "get moving" if I didn't know where to get moving to!
"Wrong way short stack. To your left."
Right, there was a door with a plaque labeled as the lounge. Whatever, he didn't tell me anything anyways, no shame in this game.
I quickened my step towards the door and almost barreled through it. By the wall on the far side were totes labeled with different sizes. I found my size and turned around. Finley was staring at me, straight into my soul it felt like.
"Are you going to stand there or go get changed? We don't have all day May."
Was he serious? I didn't even know the guy and he was talking to me like I was some idiot. Janet would have his head by now if she heard him talking to me like this.
"Are you always such a brooding asshole?" I blurted out.
His face contorted into something indiscernible. I couldn't tell if he was mad or intrigued by someone talking back to him. Oh god, he was a major freak if that was the case!
Turning on my heel I darted into the bathrooms and quickly changed. The outfit fit like a glove, almost. The top had long green sleeves with holes for thumbs. The bodice was black, with the Maybury crest on the left side. A brown belt with a hook sat on my hips, I'm assuming for the bow, or the arrows? The pants were almost skin tight, but thick, also black with a thick dark green stripe on the side. Honestly the outfit wasn't too shabby.
After ten minutes of being in the bathroom, part of me hoped that Finley had gone back into the training room and left me in here. First Dr. Richards and now this weirdo? No way. Maybe they would change my schedule if I begged.
"We don't have all day May, come out or I'll come in there and get you."
Was he seriously still out there? What was this guy's problem? This was not the fresh start I signed up for.
Who was this guy?
