Chapter 2

Hazel's POV

"Lady?" I jerked, feeling a pair of cold hands on my shoulder.

I turned to the man sitting beside me with a scowl on his face. My eyes fell on the scary scar on his brow, and I couldn't help but shift a bit, but I was already close to the door.

Seeing how blank he looked at me, I felt naked and bowed my head while covering myself as I wanted his gaze to shift away from me.

"There are rules you must obey if you want to survive with my boss," the man explained, and I frowned.

Wasn't he my new owner?

I sank into the chair as my breathing became heavier, why was my life like this?

"And rule number 15, no matter what happens, do not ever make contact with the boss without him initiating it," The man read, and I could feel a headache building up.

When did we get to rule 15? I could feel a sense of panic crippling in.

I sat upright and dug my fingers into my palm trying to remain alert.

"My name is Damien" he introduced himself.

I turned to him, wanting to also introduce myself, but he raised his hand as a signal for me to stop.

"You have no business with me but my boss, so you have to wait for his instructions. Do not forget who to belong to," he reminded cautiously and turned his face away.

My eyes were still fixed on his side profile; his well-sculptured face looked familiar, but I couldn't place my finger on where I had seen him before.

He turned to me sharply, and our eyes met; feeling embarrassed, I looked away as fast as I could, but I could feel his gaze on me.

Holy mother of Neptune!

I sank into the chair and closed my eyes trying to process and control my feelings as I thought about the future.

Where were we headed? Who was my new master? How was my life going to be?

After what felt like an eternity, the car came to a stop and I felt a soft tap on my shoulders.

"We are here," Damien announced, opening the door and stretching forth his hand.

I stared at him, confused; why was he treating me with such a gesture?

"Miss?" He called out and I snapped out of my hand and received his hand.

As soon as I came out, I noticed the big dark-looking mansion in front of us.

"Follow me" Damien ordered and walked away.

I followed him, not wanting to get lost in what looked like a haunted mansion, but due to his long legs, it seemed like he was running.

He stopped and pointed towards a seat and without even turning or glancing at me, he mumbled coldly, "Seat"

I wanted to ask some questions, but the quietness of the mansion made me sick, and I couldn't help but sit down, my legs crossed as I rubbed my thighs, trying to feel some warmth.

I thought Damien would sit down, but he just stood beside me with an expressionless face, his hands behind him and eyes fixed on the door in expectation.

I brushed my hands through my hair and let out a subtle sigh, the quietness was killing me.

I couldn't hear any sound apart from my heartbeat.

My head turned, my eyes looking around trying to find a distraction but everything was blad and looked lifeless.

All the furniture was of two colors, white and black with silver highlights.

Staying here for too long, one was sure to become color-blinded; my eyes raised to look at Damien, who had a stoic expression, and I nodded.

Maybe seeing this every day of his life had made him this way.

My stomach nudged at the thought of me becoming like him.

I was still thinking through my facts when I heard quickened but quiet footsteps drawing closer, and soon, people began rushing into the room and forming a line of two.

Males on one end and females on the other end with their heads bowed.

What was happening?

I raised my head to Damien, my brows arched, when I also noticed that he had stepped two places forward from his previous position and his head seemed raised than usual.

I tried to stand up, but he looked at me with a glare, and I immediately fell back to the seat, feeling glued as I looked away and returned my gaze to the door.

I waited for a few seconds and was slowly becoming impatient when I noticed the appearance of a man sitting in a wheelchair.

A lady came from behind and tried to push him, but he raised his hands, and she stepped back still with her head bowed.

He looked around coldly as if looking for something and then he began pushing himself through the middle of the group.

I didn't know how long I had been starting, but I could feel my inside grow hot, my heartbeat increasing, and my cheeks burning.

How could anyone be this handsome?

From his perfect flawless skin, which had beads of sweat, to his high bridged nose and perfectly sculpted nose, even the mole under his eyes looked like they were sculpted from the darkest jade.

I felt myself drawn to this man; I wanted myself wrapped in his arms immediately.

Hazel!

I bowed my head instantly as I realized what I was thinking.

Taking a deep breath and reciting a mantra, I looked up again, but this time, I noticed that he had stopped and was trying to stand up from the chair by himself.

I felt my heart ached and I wanted to help him but the next minute, he fell from the chair.

My heart broke hearing the sound of his body hitting the floor.

Before I could think, I had run to him trying to help him.

"Are you okay?" No matter how hard I was trying to sound unbothered, I could feel my voice breaking as I placed him back into his chair.

I looked around, scanning everyone around to see that they were looking at me with an unexplainable expression.

I turned back to Damien to see him with the most complex expression.

I didn't mind and squatted before the man and placed my hand on his, "Are you okay?" I asked, staring into his beautiful sky-like eyes.

"Damien, who is she?" The handsome man asked, his voice laced with coldness as he removed his hands from mine but his gaze never left mine.

He looked at me as if he could see my soul; this made my stomach tighten.

"Boss, she is Josie's sister" Damien announced.

I noticed the light in his eyes dim immediately and he raised his head.

"Take care of her and remind her of the rules." He ordered and rolled his chair.

Damien rushed to him, "Boss are you sure?" He asked a sense of worry building in his voice.

I stood up rubbing my neck as I felt confusion and sadness hit me.

"Yes, boss". Damien bowed his head after not getting an answer.

"Men, take her. Damien announced and walked away.

I tried to chase after him for proper explanation, but I felt strong grip ground my hands, pulling me away.
