Chapter 4

Margareth Pov

Honestly, I was not confident if Xavier intended to cast me out of the pack. Moreover, in this kind of situation, I had to defend my dignity as a woman. I might lose his love and prominent status here without being ashamed. Nonetheless, I could never forgive myself if this man underestimated my position as if I deserved it. He must know who I truly was.

During the time that I stared at him deeply, his face was stern as he scoffed, “I bet that your life will be worse than today, once you are not here! Didn’t you remember that you were just a poor omega before meeting me?!”

His harsh words were followed with his right hand gripping my face firmly. Without any other utterances, my disappointed gaze was drawn to him. I could also feel that tears were peeking right into my sight, getting ready to fall and run down my skin. “Why are you silent, huh?? Are you realizing your true value without me, Margie?” He sneered with a devilish smile while he released his grip towards my jaw.

Then, I decided to storm off, attempting to cool down myself after the tension of arguments. When I reached the second floor, I walked to the right hall where the balcony was attached. While my heels were tapping, I could hear a few comments from some guests noticing my presence. For sure, it lowered my self-esteem, but I had to endure the continuous pains no matter how hurt it was.

A few seconds later, I stood behind the balcony and stared at the sky. Tonight, the full moon appeared as if it calmed me down. Along with its beauty, the stars joined around it, twinkling in turns. Again, while I locked my eyes on them, tears came out, caressing my cheeks. At that point, a bass voice was heard, “Margie, are you okay? It’s me, Bastian.”

I tilted my head as I wiped my tears. At that moment, he stared at me as he approached. “Do you need a hand for your problem?” He asked directly as his eyes were still attached to me. Through his gaze, it was obvious that he might have seen the quarrels I had recently.

“For now, I don’t think I need it, Bastian. It’s just a simple personal matter with my husband,” I inhaled while I responded to his question.

Acknowledging the real situation, he shook his head a bit and insisted, “But, you need a hand, and I can do it. You can’t face the music by yourself, Margie.”

“How can you help me? You are just a guest at this yearly party.” I stared at him deeply, demanding his assurance regarding his help.

Surprisingly, instead of discussing his help, he immediately grabbed my hand and said, “Let’s fix the deal together! I know how to make him deflect his mind.”

Then, along with his confident steps, I joined as my feet stepped next to his. In a few seconds, Bastian and I were back at the party and caught Xavier joking with Selena. “Excuse me, Alpha Xavier. Can we talk privately, along with Luna Margareth?” Bastian’s voice interrupted their sweet moment instantly. Xavier with his cold stare certainly looked at him in an unfriendly way.

“All right. We can go upstairs, to my working room.” Xavier agreed as he united his fingers with Selena’s.

“Firstly, I’m here to dare you, Alpha,” stated Bastian straightforwardly. While he sat on the sofa, across Xavier, he threw a stern gaze, indicating that he was eager to give the man an important lesson on how to treat a woman properly.

Grinning pompously, Xavier muttered, “Excuse me? What date would you like me to do? Please state your reason why I should fulfill it.”

After clearing his throat, Bastian claimed, “Well, it’s pretty simple.”

“Enough with hemming and hawing. Just say it directly,” Xavier ordered as he stared sternly at Bastian.

“If your mistress is pregnant next month, you have to give in your Luna to me. In contrast, when your mistress is not carrying your pup, leave her and return to your Luna instead. How is it? Any excuse for not doing the dares?” Bastian stated the dares confidently. At the same time, he wondered if Xavier would reject to do the dares for several unreasonable excuses.

Nevertheless, Xavier thought of the dares carefully for a while. Subsequently, he responded, “It seems that you want to snatch my wife indirectly, but I’ll prove that you will never get her. I accept your dares.”

At that point, Margareth locked her eyes on Xavier deeply. Through her glance, it was obvious that she felt disappointed because her chosen mate made her an object to play with. She also noticed that the help offered by Bastian didn’t make her fear reduced. In consequence, she said in her mind, “What a doomed fate for me! Xavier as my Alpha and husband seriously never respects my existence despite the love I give to him. I guess I may set an alternative strategy if the dares make me feel worse and uncomfortable to live here.”

Moreover, after Xavier agreed with the dares, Bastian nodded and requested, “Can I have your email address here? I’ll send you the agreement letter through it. Once you have done signing, don’t forget to return it to me.”

Along with the request, Bastian gave a tiny piece of paper he got from his suit pocket. With his calm expression, the pen in Xavier’s fingers was dancing on the white smooth surface for a few seconds. “Here it is. Share me the copy of the document, will you?” Xavier handed in the paper piece to Bastian as he asked for the copy of the letter.

“Of course. Thank you for your cooperation.” Bastian replied as he received the paper piece.

After that, he flashed a tiny smile at Margareth and Xavier. In less than two minutes, he left the room with much optimism in his mind and heart. He surely believed that what he had resolved was the best way to save Margareth from Xavier’s bad attitude as an Alpha. “I’ll never let you mess up with my fated mate!” He muttered as he walked out of the castle immediately.
