Chapter 2

Vanessa's POV

"I should be asking you that dumb question, Vanessa." He slammed his hand down on the table, "Since when have you been sleeping with my uncle?!"

"What?" I couldn't believe my own ears. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Are you blind? Or you suddenly can't recognise your own self anymore? Which one is it?"

In my hands were pictures of me tangled in bed with Levi Alford, George's uncle.

I don't understand. How? But this never happened.

"I can clearly see it here but I don't know how these pictures originated." At this point, I was panicking and scared, "This never happened, George. You have to believe me." I pleaded with him.

"Maybe if I was blind I would have believed you." He laughed ironically, "But I'm not. And those pictures!" He raised his voice, "Those images of you in bed with my own uncle having sex with him will always haunt me. I can't look at you without seeing them." He slowly said.

I knelt to the ground immediately and grabbed his leg, "Please, George. You have to believe me. These pictures were doctored. Someone is trying to tear us apart. They're trying to sabotage our marriage. Don't let them do this to us."

"No one is trying to sabotage us, Vanessa. You got sloppy or over confident and then you got caught." He spat viciously, "Just accept it and sign the damn papers."

"No please, George, don't do this to me." Tears fell from my eyes. Where do I go from here? I don't even have any memories of my earlier life because of the accident, "You know I have nobody else but you."

"You have uncle Levi now." He said nonchalantly before scoffing, "You know something else that pisses me off the most?" He tore his leg away from my hold and eyed me in disgust.

"What is it?"

"It's the fact that these pictures were taken on the afternoon of the 18th which is also the day I returned from the trip and the last night we made love." He seemed visibly disgusted by me, "I received the photos the next day being the 19th. You know what that means?"

"George, no." I shook my head, "That's not true. You have to believe me. I never slept with your uncle and I'll never do that."

"Shut up! That means you had sex with my uncle and also had sex with me on the same day. You should be real fucking proud of yourself, you whore."

Who is doing this to me? Someone is trying to sabotage me for no reason. I haven't wronged anyone to the point of that person retaliating and running my image and marriage like this.

"Please don't call me that, George. You're hurting me." I cried, "I never left the house on the 18th. I was at home all day and I wasn't feeling too well." I tried to explain.

"So he came over to my house and you both fucked in our bed?" He folded his arms across his chest. "Is that what it is?"

"No, uncle Levi never came here on the 18th. It's been over two weeks since uncle Levi last came here.

On that day, I was home alone, baking a cake for your return and also preparing a welcome dinner for you since mom and the rest of the family were coming over to celebrate with us on your return." I explained.

"In the afternoon, I felt dizzy and light headed after removing the cake from the oven. I can't remember anything else that happened but I figured that I might have gone upstairs to sleep a little bit because I remember waking up in the bedroom."

Please believe me, George.

"Are you done? So you're trying to say that you have another amnesia that you can't accurately remember what happened seven days ago?" He had a bored expression, "I should never have wasted my time with you. What did I even see in you? Just sign the divorce papers, Vanessa." He threw them to the ground in front of me.

"No! I'm not signing anything!" I grabbed the paper and tore it into pieces. "I never cheated on you and I never will! Someone is doing this on purpose."

"Tearing it does not stop me from getting a new one. I'm getting this marriage annulled whether you like it or not. I've dealt with your nonsense for way too long. My mother was right after all. It would have been better if you died in the car crash."

The earth stopped spinning for a minute after he said that, "George." I said in disbelief and shock, "I can't believe you said that."

"Well, you better believe it or you can go over it again and again in your head elsewhere and not inside my house." He pulled me up from the floor and began to drag me out of his office and towards the main door while I struggled with him.

"What are you doing, George? Let go of me!"

"I'm simply taking the trash out." He answered and dragged me out of the property as Linda waved at me with a smile, "Bye, Mrs Alford."

"George, no no no. Please don't do this to me! I have nowhere else to go. I don't know anybody here!" I cried.

He opened the gates and threw me to the ground before throwing my bag at me, "The streets will welcome you with open arms because that's where you belong. My lawyer will reach you tomorrow and if you know what is best for you, sign the fucking papers or I might just decide to kill you!" And with that he closed the gates to the mansion I had grown to call home and walked inside leaving me on the floor of the estate.

What do I do now? Who do I call? I don't even know my family even though I was told that they were dead. They died in the car crash and I was the only survivor.

The car crash three years ago took away everything that mattered in my life leaving only one, George.

He was the only one I had. I woke up from the coma with no recollection of my past life and no memory of who I was.

I could only know my own name because there was a necklace around my neck that read, Vanessa Mae.

I fished out my phone from my purse and proceeded to dial George's number but he wasn't picking.

He never took any of my calls nor responded to any of my messages and it was beginning to get dark.

I spun around when a shadow loomed behind me and I heard footsteps approaching.
